  1. Need to make sure car is fully warmed up or options will not appear
  2. Great service again chaps, thanks for replies. I now understand what it does, but struggling with why it’s necessary. Smudger
  3. I have this button called REST but can't seem to get it to do anything - car stopped, car moving - Nothing. What does it do ? Smudger
  4. Me too - never had an issue - strange ? I do have my A/C on all the time - wonder if that makes a difference.
  5. Look on web for Screen frost protector - if you get a large enough one it will cover the side windows/mirrors as well. BUT Not sure it saves time buy the time you have fitted it in the evening to stop dew but worth it for frost. If your boot is clear just chuck it in there and of you go. Have also seen some where a small fan heater that can run on a time clock of batteries. So this comes on an hour or so before car is needed and gets internal temp up so windows clear. Cant see it helping with mirrors though - what about sandwich bags ??
  6. I had a MKII with same pano roof aswell - so its all very frustrating.
  7. Interesting subject that has been in my mind for some time. So at the Goodwood festival of speed this year I decided that I would test as many cars as I could to see resistance needed to stop a closing tailgate. Best Audi Q series - featherlight touch and it stoped All the rest (Ford, Bentley, Vauxhall, Rolls Royce, Masserati, Range Rover etc) needed a similar amount of force to my car. So I'm happy to report that Skodas operate the same as cars costing many times more On the down side I think that the force required to stop operation is excessive. And I still don't understand why I can't close my sunroof when locking the car. People / pets are far more likely to get hit by a closing tailgate than stuck in a unroof closing from tilt position (unless your pet is a Stick insect !!) Surley someone must make a torque sensor for the motor thats configerable.
  8. Agree with JR RS my MY17 works exactly as described. Found out the other day you can even pause and resume boot operation by nija swip before tailgate has reached extent of travel. Having said that I have had to have the Nija sensor replaced (under warrentee) as I had no operation initially.
  9. You can get an audio "ping" when near speed cams or any other pois - Its up to user when creating file on VW site whether they enable it or not for that individual POI group.
  10. Robdan, not sure how much you know already so forgive me if i'm telling you what you already know. Its a bit of a performance to get the POI into Columbus but to my mind its worth it. Firstly you need to download a POI set - Pocket GPS world is a good place to subscribe to as it has a large collection of POI including speed cams. Then go here http://webspecial.volkswagen.de/infotainment/de/de/manuals/nav-companion.html?d1=discoverpro&type=poiNavigation This is the VW website that builds the POIs into files that Columbus can recognise. For full details go here https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/385044-poi/?page=8&tab=comments#comment-4928114 its a long thread but its worth the read and you will have a working set at the end of it. Good luck
  11. Agree, you would need a car that has DSG gearbox and the optional Smart light assist. You can tell if the car has smart light assist as the headlights have "lashes" in addition to the standard day time running light. Is only available with the Bi Xenon headlights which are standard on L&K. See attacehd file from Skoda configurator that list spec of L&K. its for a petrol but that should not make a difference. Just be aware that this list is for a current spec car yours may have a few differences, I added smart light assist as an option - its still not std, CarCard_110844619.pdf
  12. Dont think it can be done in either the MFD (Data screen between Speedo and Rev counter) or Columbus screen As a suggestion - use Waze to obtain speed via Android Auto to Columbus and set MFD to show the MPG Some where on here I have seen a mod that can be done that gives an extra display to the Columbus that the Kodiaq has but not the Superb - not sure if this would give you what you want. Someone may be able to answer this.
  13. Try this Android Auto (AA) open on phone Tap the 3 horizontal bars top left corner Tap About Then on the top of the AA screen (below phones staus bar) you should see Left pointing arrow, About Android Auto Text, and cog Tap the text About Android Auto TEN TIMES, you should then see a popup stating Dev mode enabled AND now to the right of the cog you should have three vertical dots - this is where the magic is Good luck
  14. Just been and checked In individual mode the following happens : ECO mode - will start in ECO with E1 etc shown SPORT mode - will start in standard Drive with D1 etc shown The only way I can rationalise this is that it may be considerd a safety issue if car is alway in Sport mode at start up - what with quicker throttle responce etc - just a hunch ?
  15. How new ? - my S3 MY17 Columbus (with the real buttons) takes speed cams fine with option for audio warning or not. Cant comment on the latest (touch screen button) version of Columbus.
  16. My 17 plate retains the mode used during previous journey. I always drive in Individual mode. I drive as Bud above, just pull the stick back for that extra bit of ooommph when needed.
  17. Oh, thats looking like a down grade from the S2 - sure mine used to gradually come on after ignition off. A mate of mine has my old S2 - I'll check
  18. Can someone confirm if the interior lights come on before you open the door when its dark ? I'm sure they used to in in my S3. If so can you tell me where you switch this on. At present the lights only come on when a door is opened NOT when ignition is switched off.
  19. Barry, Try Pocket GPS World web site - look at their POI section. I have a subscription as I use their speed cams as well - not sure if you will need a sub to download other POI. To my mind they have the best UK POIs for speed cams and its well worth paying for.
  20. Agree with Mr Grump, Columbus comes with many POI groups its just that they are not "enabled" by default - I guess so at the display remains relativly un clutterd. If you go into NAV setup you should be able to selct which groups you want to work with. Columbus will also allow third party POI groups to be imported from SD cards. Quite a lot on this forum about this - mainly for speed cam POIs but the princibles still apply for others. Personally I import POIs for Speed cams, Shell & Tescos fuel (Due to those being the only suppliers of 99RON petrol), English Heritage and National Trust sites. Come back with any queries I'm sure someone on here will be able to help.
  21. I had exactly the same squeak/judder changed to Bosch as above posts and now silent for 3 months so far.
