Hi all my daughter has just bought a 2019 fabia that has the useless foam in the boot but no spare, I want to find her a 15" spare wheel or space saver without spending loads so just wondering has the 5 stud pattern changed recently or am I OK in getting an earlier 5 stud wheel????, thanks

Drivers door window regulator replacement
tyreman1 replied to tyreman1's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Bought a replacement regulator from euro car parts complete with panel for about £45 but what a horrible job, who ever thought up the idea to rivet the panel on and the the stupid plastic fittings that go through the glass are something else. One tip I would give though is don't use the genuine rivets or the ones that come with the panel unless you've got arm like the hulk, I used slightly smaller rivets put a small washer under them. -
Thanks all for taking the time to answer.

Currently own 2 skoda's and love the brand but looking to change my Octavia estate and have been thinking about a roomster,I'd love a yeti but funds won't stretch, looking at a 2010/2011 in the year and hopefully a 1.9 pd again ( my Octavia is on 215k and has been fabulous ), a bit concerned about the panoramic roof that I've seen on a lot of roomsters....has anyone any roof leaking or any other common problems. thanks for looking

Cracked Cylinder engine write-off
tyreman1 replied to rawcas's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
My thinking would be if you had a knackered piston before it went in you would have noticed very rough running and burning oil,if they got the timing drastically wrong has the piston been damaged by valve contact ???...any half competent mechanic would surely have turned the engine over by hand to check there was no contact before starting but maybe they didn't. -
Hi all, wife's 1.2 2007 Mk2 Fabia only 70 k has intermittent management light on and off, code read came up with camshaft sensor, tested sensor and all ok ,have been told it could be due to chain stretch instead, the engine isn't a rattler,is this normal at this mileage and should I be concerned about it ??? thanks edit.......just found previous posts about chains, bugger.

sticking front calipers is a regular occurrence on my Octavia, probably twice a year I'll take the pads out of the fronts and lubricate and pump the pistons in and out a few times ,doesn't take long. On the brake hose idea I've know plenty of collapsed hoses in my time holding pressure on, at the garage where I work we always factor in the price of a new flexi hose when changing calipers, for what they cost it's not worth taking a chance.

Hi all, 2005 Octavia 4x4 estate running fine but have occasional fault with fuel gauge dropping right down and warning light coming on. Always seems to be after doing a few miles and pulling over ,first time I noticed it was when pulled over to reset my satnav but was on a bit of a hill so thought nothing of it but this has now happened four or five times, never when driving, always when stationary.....any ideas???

can it even be fixed ????, garage says ??
tyreman1 replied to cornishprincess's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
If its a mechanical fault a code reader is no good,if there's no fault codes then its back to basics like fuel, first and cheapest thing i would do is change the fuel filter as already suggested, could be fuel pump fault but i think that might throw up a code, cant understand a garage giving up on it that quickly. -
Rear diff failure following Haldex oil change

Easy to mix up the 2 drain and refil plugs...........keep us informed of the outcome -
Replaced mine from a local motor factors called southern exhaust supplies,I know you may not have one of these close to you but they supply suspension parts from a company called 'moog' and these came with a 2 year guarantee....3 years on an my drop links are still lovely and quiet.

Fitting a DAB radio to my octavia 2
tyreman1 replied to nimchimpsky's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I have a pioneer 3500 dab unit using just an internal glass mount aerial and reception is fab, just make sure when fitting it its earthed properly to the 'a' post -
I changed my 15" wheels to 16" soon after buying Octavia 4x4 estate and must admit they look a lot better and tyres are more reasonable in a common 205/55x16 size

Thaks for the reply Scott, the splined bolts on mine are badly corroded as well but easier to get to with the hub off i bet,i put mine back together when i saw how bad they were hence taking the whole hub off,i'm lucky in the fact that i can use a ramp in work to do it but didnt want it being there too long waiting for bolts and bushes..i'll give it another go after the christmas break.

Hi all, merry xmas....looking to change a rear bearing on my 4x4 Octavia estate to try and put the abs light out again ( seems like the bugger has been on more than its been off ),took the caliper and disc off a couple of days ago to have a go but looks like i'm going to have to take the complete hub off which i wasnt banking on,so whats the chances of the nuts and bolts going through the bushes coming undone or should i just cut through the bolts and change the bushes at the same time ???
