  1. @Stuart-h the absolute kings of VAG diesel tuning are Darkside Developments in Barnsley, they have a really good on-site dyno of their own.
  2. Yeah 301.8bhp & 364ft/lbs or nearly 500Nm Ali dog bone mount should suit your requirements for the axle tramp
  3. Yeah DSG but, i've remapped that too & use the paddles for spirited driving, dunno about the standard torque & power, tuningbox was 287.5bhp & 335ft/lbs, remap was 301.8bhp & 364 ft/lbs so, nicer but not amazing
  4. Mine is still under warranty until the end of August but, I've had my 3rd service so I thought WTF. TBH day to day driving wise the remap is slightly nicer to drive but, not amazingly quicker, doesn't seem to be any better on fuel either. Also like, @Ads230 I've now brought mine outright & TBH the Mk4 leaves me cold, its not urging me to replace mine at all
  5. Only fitted as it came as a part of the system from the previous owner, love the raspy wabble in the lower mid range it creates, kinda prelude to whats coming. Elbow is a must with its large/smoother airflow.
  6. Obviously you old crumblies @shyVRS245& @old newbie2 haven't been trying hard enough 🤣🤣🤣 Yeah, be over enthusiastic on a damp surface & you'll get it in 2nd too, it will depend on how good the tyres you buy are also. @JackReacher what are you trying to achieve? & if that's Fleet in Hampshire your welcome to try mine out. Its got the 034 motorsport Ali dog bone mount with a stage 1 tune on Michelin PS4S. Might wanna wait till after the 16th as I'm waiting for new front tyres, mine are fooked see photo attached
  7. TBH I don't, I kinda assumed the manual gearbox done it as well, have you got a manual ? your profile doesn't show I've had a DSG for about 7 years now
  8. Right all you guys that have or are thinking of NOT having TSA I've gotta tell you 2 things. 1. TSA makes towing at & beyond the car's limits far far safer, having used a Mk3 1.4 TSI Elegance to tow a Mk2 Astra on a twin axle 22ft car trailer, I KNOW 2. When you finally sell your car, are you gonna be honest & tell the new owner whom may want to take his family on holiday with their caravan, "no this car doesn't have TSA" In addition, TSA ain't all the OEM electrics provide, you do know it disables the coasting function in Eco mode, which is pretty damned handy going downhill with 1,500kg hooked up. Seriously guys, I love to save a few quid but, this ain't the place to be doing it.
  9. The 230 engine setup tunes better than the 245 TBH, less sprayers per injector on the 245. However, i'd really search around for some personal recommendations before choosing a tuner & whilst it'd be nice to custom tune the car on a dyno, you can really push the safety back in pursuit of performance. In that situation, I'd really like to know from personal recommendations i can trust the tuner as engine/turbo replacements can be reach 5 figures
  10. Below are the JKM Portsmouth dyno printouts for both the DTUK tuningbox & the Revo Stage 1 map. Both produced smooth power delivery with the air fuel ratio being the only noticeable difference between the 2 approaches to tuning, the tuningbox runs the engine a lot leaner & therefore, the engine will run hotter. Long term, this could create issues but, for a shorter period of time it shouldn't be a problem, my tuningbox was on the car for 2 year & about 22k miles. Kinda depends how safe you wanna be with warranty compared to how quick you wanna be, its a balance & only you can make that decision
  11. March 2018 production date makes your car a Manufacture Year (MY) 18 & just prior to the stricter emissions testing so, I doubt you would have a GPF. A call to any of the tuners with your engine number should confirm this though, those tuners don't like surprises. Ben Wardle (IIRC) at raceline now have remaps for GPF vRS's though
  12. Tuningbox may well be your answer, my 245 ran just under 290bhp with a DTUK one, it now runs 302bhp with a revo remap. Wouldn't advise buying a 2nd hand one though as they are everso slightly different for each type of engine/gearbox combination
  13. It affects the remap fortunately, my 245 is an early one without the GPF
  14. No difference at all My 245 has the complete R600 ait intake system which is expensive unless like me you find a 2nd hand 1. Whichever you go for get the elbow & turbo muffler delete as the OEM setup is quite restrictive
  15. OK I've stayed outta this one as I can be a bit blunt for most but, @FOX1429 you seem to handle differing opinions ok. Having pee'd about with many cars for many years I can easily say, the Pedalbox makes the most impact to a car for the money of ANY & EVERY mod I've ever made, get 1. Other than 'off the line' a remapped 245 can race Golf R's ect, being 200kg lighter from 50mph upwards its accelerating faster, its also a lot more fun trying to get all the power through those fronts wheels. Far more engaging than a 4X4 which whilst no doubt fast, are pretty boring. Regards comfort, yours & the families, get the electric seats & the DCC. The electric seats are heated so, that another tick & the very small adjustments possible to the lumbar support will help your back. The DCC can change the car from handling well (for its size) in Sport to being limo comfort for when you've gotta be dad. I don't think the vRS can tick all the boxes for you but, i think it'll tick more boxes than anything else thats available.
  16. Wow, my 14 plate was 50 quid Inflation is obviously running outta control in Skodaland Mind you, twas 300 quid on Mrs TMWNA's 20 plate hyundai
  17. Motorsport 034 Ali dog bone mount in my TSI but, that maybe the issue here, if yours is the more aggrecultural engine you'll struggle. IIRC the yellow polybush dogbone mount was the one prefered by diesel owners
  18. TBH, balancing the torque steer through both throttle & steering input in a 300bhp front wheel drive car is great fun, when it runs out at about 40-50mph is when you start reeling in the heavier 4x4 cars that are carrying another 200-250Kg of Haldex system
  19. There look fine, mechanic needed, are you a essential worker ?
  20. Seriously, always put new tyres on rear of front wheel drive cars, counterintuitive as it sounds.
  21. @Brooksy2020 kinda feel for you a bit, getting things done right now is frustratingly slow but, I can't see many/any willing to physically help during distancing. @PetrolDave you need to cut new members a little more slack mate, even if you're not in the best of moods yourself. FFS guys we've got months of this come yet, find a way of dealing with it
  22. Yeah but, thats only on the way to work however, I get twice the mpg coming home at lunchtime, still can't understand why🤔🤔🤔
