Winter Wheel Pictures & Recommendations
It was the "special" offer from the dealer while I was ordering the new car. But you are right, In Switzerland the main VW reseller AMAG sell their own acessory wheels through the brand "Gamaparts". For the Octavia one of the gamaparts wheels they offered was the a rebadged Dezent TD, which I paid ~200chf a rim+Conti wintersport from MyTyres instead of 450chf through the garage. I will ask them for a price for the official Skoda rims to compare...

For the moment I am keeping the Octavia, so I will need the winter wheels but it was my first idea because they look in much better condition that the original vRS wheels (probably due to the smaller profile so less easy to ping on the curbs.) But on closer inspection the ET doesnt work for the Superb (I have ET48 & Superb needs ET41 for snow chains or ET40 for 17"). I was looking at buying another set but I dont see them mentioned on the Dezent website any longer.

I cant see the images you posted but I already looked at the Skoda "official" wheels & they are very expensive. Even with the "discount" the dealer offered on winter wheels when I ordered the car it was still >2400CHF for a set. Where would you buy them? The reason I chose the Dezent TD wheels for the Octavia was they were "identical" to the official Golf wheels but €100 each instead of €450 for the "official" ones. As I understant Dezent was the manufacurer for the Golf wheels & they were just "resold" by VW at a big markup.

Winter Wheel Pictures & Recommendations
After ordering a Superb Sportline TDI last week, I'm now in that 3 month limbo waiting for news of when it will arrive (that I'm sure you are all too aware..!) I've started looking at winter wheels (assuming it will arrive sometime close when I'll need to change over.) I didn't find a "Winter Wheels Photos" thread like there was on the Octavia forum. I have the homologated tyres sizes for the Superb (from the thread here & the dealer) & will almost definitely go from 19" to 17" for winter. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations for winter wheels for the superb? I've ordered the DragonSkin yellow so I'm assuming something grey/black will look good & be easy to keep clean. I have the 17" Dezent TD Anthracites on my Octavia which I'm really pleased with. No issues at all after 9 years & in much better condition that the Skoda wheels which were 4x the price.

Superb Mk4
Thanks, that's good info.. I just checked the German website again & they are now showing a special "final edition" version of the Superb

Superb Mk4
I'm sure the dealers know the new mk4 is on the way & for sure they must have more information than we can find on the internet. However, I spoke to 3 different garages here & all of them swore blind there was no new Superb until I showed them the details on the Skoda storyboard website & car websites. Its in their interest to keep quite so not to put off a potential customer who is interested in a mk3 so they don't delay a sale for 6 months. In Switzerland the official stock is already very low & mainly only the demo cars at the garages. I was trying to negotiate a special price on a top spec L&K but they wouldn't budge on the official price despite the car staying 10 months in a showroom. I guess the new one is probably not available in the metal until the beginning of next year until the earliest so too early for good discounts.

Superb Mk4
I read the same in an article about the new golf, the guy said that the new touchscreen system had "heavily damaged the brand" but in some spyshots from the Nurburgring of the new superb, the pop up screen was clearly visible. The familiarity of the mk3 Superb with my original Octavia was the reason I wanted the old model (plus 5 years of knowledge on reliability). For me, the old interface with the Colombus & the driver controls was great perfect as a driver.

Superb Mk4
I'm not interested in the new one either. If rumours are true it will use the same infotainment UI as the new golf based on the ID platform. The reason I started to look at the superb over a new Octavia was the touch sensitive volume slider on the Octavia which is a disaster. I was hoping new of the new one would drive down the prices of the current model to make way for the new stock. However, it seems with the chip shortage, stock models are already in short supply. When I checked last week, Superb was not even available on the German configurator. Here in Switzerland they are giving large discounts on the high spec models which almost come fully loaded with options. Only the 200/280ps 4x4 engines are available. Anyway, last Friday I got bored of waiting & bit the bullet. I ordered a sportline TDi in Dragonskin. Hoping for delivery in around 3 months

Superb Mk4
I think it is probably a facelift mk3 rather than a new model but I've read that the Center console is updated more like the new VW ID concept with floating tablet style interface. Do you think that they'll be heavily discounting the current one when they announce its replacement?

Superb Mk4
For example I found this link but without mention of release date: https://www.skoda-media.de/model/103/3015? https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/press-releases/new-generations-of-kodiaq-and-superb-successfully-complete-super-cold-testing-in-the-arctic-circle/fz=103&skoda=Superb

Superb Mk4
Im currently looking at jumping from My Mk3 Octavia 2014 to a new Mk3 Superb. However, I've seen in several of the automotive press that the "New" Superb will be released this year. Does anyone have any idea of the release date (when will the pricelist/options/orderbook etc be available). I'm assuming there will be a big drive to get rid of the old stock close to the release date of the new one, so if I can wait a few months I might be able to find a good deal as the dealers look to free space for the new model. Is the battery dead?
Quick status update: I've done around 1500km since changing the battery. I've not seen one warning on the dash when starting, and starting has been strong and fast even when left around -5 to -10 during the recent cold days. Stop start also works robustly & I've even seen "stop start available" in the vehicle status view which I don't think I even saw very often when the vehicle was new.! No signs of problems from not coding a new battery or not clearing the errors. Should have changed it much sooner..! Gabbo

Is the battery dead?
Battery replaced this afternoon. No problems just a bit fiddly getting the cover & the battery clamp back in place. At the first start after changing the battery, engine started fine (battery must be mostly charged) but there were 3 warning messages on the display & flashing in the cluster: - ACC Error - ESP Error - Tyre Pressure Monitoring Error After driving 500m the last 2 errors disappeared on their own leaving only the ACC error. I drove about 3km & stopped to collect the kids. At the next start, there were no errors & the engine started without any warnings on the display. Just before reaching home (when the cabin temperature had reached the setpoint) StopStart was enabled & the engine stopped while waiting at traffic lights... Previously there was always a message in the StopStart overview saying "High Power Consumption" which I guess must have been the alternator trying to charge the old battery. So everything seems to be working fine without any "learning/programming" at the moment. I will report back if I see any differences/problems over the next few days. I've got a 120km round trip tonight. @Giff If you didnt already order your battery I can recommend Galaxus or SwissBatt.ch (ordered at Galaxus & delivery by SwissBatt 2 days later).

Occasional starting problems!
I think this is a common problem on VAG diesel engines, I have seen several threads with the same. In-fact my car has experienced the same thing for a few years. Dealer cannot find any problem & tells me long cranking of a diesel is normal (which is of course not true). In summer I have no problems but around 10 to 0°C ambient temperatures my car can take up to 10s to crank (not always but often). It is dead-cranking without any combustion, i believe no fuel is being injected during this time. When its very cold, it will start almost instantly after the 3-4s automatic delay for the glowplugs. I am 100% convinced this issue comes from the software/calibration & not from a fault on the engine/glowplugs etc. I found an easy way to prevent this happening is to "abort" the first start by raising the clutch pedal (which cuts out the starter) if it didn't start in 2 revolutions. Then press depress the clutch & press start again. My car will start immediately 100% of the time afterwards, it could be that 1 or 2s longer gives the glowplugs more time but I believe that the fuelling of the 2nd start behaves differently & allows the engine to start. My guess is this comes from injector or fuel pump/rail pressure learning algorithms which are not well adapted to ageing injectors (I have driven ~200k km currently). However, I could not convince the dealer to reset these functions for me & I would have to pay myself for it. I believe VAG could easily fix these problems, but I guess updates on a >10 year old engine will not come. It would be interesting if the more recently diesel engines experience the same thing.

Columbus MIB2 - White Noise/interference
@PetrolDave, You are right, it is an MIB1, is the factory fit that came with the car. I'll try to change the title.

Is the battery dead?
I've got a Bosch C3 charger which has an AGM regeneration mode. It seems to work pretty well as a few hours charging gives good starting performance the next day. Unfortunately as you state, the damage was already done letting the battery get to zero & leaving it too long. However, the charger has kept me going without any problems for 18 months & with regular driving everything is fine. I just put it on charge occaisonally if I've not used it for a week. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-intelligent-automatic-motorcycles-commercial/dp/B09C925GNQ My StopStart has not really worked for 18months with the current battery even during summer when I have no problems starting & no need for charging. I am driving around 130km (80miles) per day, 4 days a week, so when I using the car, it is warm & has plenty of time to recharge so seems clear the battery is past its best. In the winter when I start the car, the dashboard has many warnings during the first few seconds after starting (ACC Not Available, ABS Error (sometimes), Instrument Cluster resets) so Id expect there were be several DTCs stored for low battery voltage conditions. However, the car has been to the dealer for service twice in this time (they've checked the battery & told me everything is fine) so either they are not checking or they just assume every car has these & clear them. Its due another service in January 2023, so I will replace the battery tomorrow, leave it to see how long it takes for StopStart to work again & see if they mention it when its serviced. Gabbo

Columbus MIB2 - White Noise/interference
I've got an old 2014 Octavia with Columbus MIB2. Recently, I've noticed an intermittent sort of white/noise interference when playing music from a digital source MP3 or Bluetooth (kind of like you used to get when listening to analog radio with a weak signal) It doesn't happen all the time & initially I thought it was perhaps some badly ripped mp3s but it also does this sometimes when the music is muted. It only seems to appear for a short time & then will disappear (so I'm assuming its hardware related, dry solder or warming up kind of problem with the Columbus). It doesn't seem to be getting any worse (its been like this for the last 6 months or so). Anyone had something similar & any possible root causes I could look into?

Is the battery dead?
I know the damage was done to my car during the summer of 2021, working from home & within walking distance to the schools meant long periods of time without use & proper driving to keep the battery charged. 6-9 months of short & infrequent journeys. (also pretty bad on the brake discs as well) When the winter hit, the battery performance had quite obviously deteriorated & I eventually bought a Bosch AGM charger to top up the battery the weeks I wasnt using it. Basically I've got to the point that in the winter (~0° overnight here currently) it needs charging (or keeping warmer in the garage) if its left for more than 3 or 4 days without proper driving otherwise it wont start (or will just start). Im back to driving ~80miles a day but even this is not enough with the current battery to enable StopStart anymore... After getting stuck at a filling station yesterday as the battery couldnt even start a warm engine I eventually decided to bite the bullet & buy a new battery.

Is the battery dead?
As a completely unscientific test, I will change my battery next week when it arrives & I'll keep an eye on how long it takes StopStart to work again. After charging my current battery with an AGM charger it took quite a long time even during the summer before StopStart was active again but this is perhaps because of the state of the old battery. Sitting on the driveway for months on end during the last 2 years weren't kind on it....

Is the battery dead?
There are ~10CHf cheaper directly from Swissbatt.ch if you have a creditcard or postfinance card. Varta N60 Blue Dynamic EFB 560 500 064 Autobatterie 60Ah | swissbatt24.ch I used Galaxus as I already have an account & can pay by invoice/twint. They sell almost everything, they are the Swiss equivelant of Amazon (with much better website) & have expanded recently to Germany & Austria.

Is the battery dead?
I found this thread look for a replacement battery for my Octavia VRS 2L diesel as the winter draws in as its not very good at holding charge if left for a few days. @Giff I am also in Switzerland but my car is fitted with 68Ah AGM battery. Seems like 68Ah is replaced by 70Ah as a standard now. I recommend Galaxus.ch to buy from. Very fast delivery & amazon quality customer service (available in English, German, French & Italian). Payment by invoice, twint, creditcard, postfinance etc. They have an AGM battery for 153CHF (from 3rd party swissbatt24) Varta Silver Dynamic AGM E39 (12 V, 70 Ah, 760 A) - kaufen bei Galaxus There is a filter on their website for Car Batteries where you can choose EFB type batteries: Fahrzeugbatterie · Autobatterie - kaufen bei Galaxus 60Ah Varta N60 Blue Dynamic (12 V, 60 Ah, 640 A) - kaufen bei Galaxus 110CHF 70Ah Varta N70 Blue Dynamic (12 V, 70 Ah, 760 A) - kaufen bei Galaxus 140CHF I have just ordered the Silver Dynamic for mine (AGM->AGM replacement). The garage wanted ~400CHF to change the battery & Im sure it would be a lesser brand than you can buy yourself..!!! Gabbo

The Mk3 Octavia TDI water pump thread
I would just run the car as it is until your new one turns up. When mine failed it occurred once or twice & then started more frequently but every time it was a temporary overheating warning & within 30s of cruising the thermostat would pop open & then temperature would go back down for the rest of the journey. They diagnosed the known component fault but I had to wait around 2-3 weeks for the part to arrive so I drove like this for 3-4 months in total. If you get a goodwill payment from the dealer (not sure if Skoda are still offering this) they'll pay around half but its still more than a few hundred quid in repairs. The temperature is just below the red line, as coolant can still flow past the thermostat when its closed, so as long as it doesnt go into the red section it should be fine until your new car arrives.
