  1. I temporarily fixed the trim myself by taking it off and repositioning it. I'll get it replaced as it got bent slightly when it first caught. Odd it took over a year to develop the fault? I'll see if I can video the glove box rattle to see if that will help the dealer and will also pull out the ash tray but I don't think it is that. Simon, I think you may be right with the pipe work as it only does it with the engine cold.
  2. I've just booked my S3 Estate in at my local Skoda dealer to get it looked at under warranty. The car has decided to shed a piece of it's chrome door trim at the top of the rear o/s door. It also has the annoying glove box rattle and that dash resonance at around 1850-2000 rpm when cold. I know I'm not alone in these issues. The glove box doesn't seem to rattle with a front passenger in the car. The dash only seems to vibrate when cold. Has anyone had any of these issues successfully resolved or am I hoping for too much?
  3. Hi Legacy, The Octavia MFSW with paddles will require Superb S3 button modules (part no. 3V0 919 719B) to work. The standard, non paddle shift Superb MFSW button modules don't have the port for the paddle ribbon cables and the Octavia button modules aren't compatible. Hope that helps. DD.
  4. Cornering fog lights can be coded via VCDS to operate at higher speed. Think it's about 40mph? Worth doing in my mind. Have to agree about the Xenons. Not sure mine work properly and very poor range. Will have to annoy my dealer with a visit.
  5. Hopefully the DSG paddle shift wheel will be available soon.
  6. As Gizmo correctly states, the Octavia 3 buttons work perfectly well on the Superb but will not shift gears on the paddles. You will need the Superb 3 buttons (part no. 3V0 919 719B) which include the ports for the paddle ribbon cables.
  7. Marshalls at Kidlington are my nearest dealer. I'll book it in to have it looked at. As Coops says, beam range is dismal at 10-15m. I may invest in new bulbs if they get it sorted. I need more light.
  8. Neither. The headlights do track when turning but absolutely no change in beam pattern at any speed. Either it is very subtle, or they don't work as they should.
  9. I watched my Xenons this morning in the mist. They swivel left and right but don't change pattern. The right hand beam is fixed firmly to the left and the beam pattern remains close to the car.
  10. I always knew it would depreciate but not how much and how quick. That has come as a bit of an unpalatable surprise but then I didn't contemplate on down sizing so quick when I bought it. A few calculations based on what I was offered against what I paid, plus an approximation on fuel costs and insurance divided by the miles covered, the Superb has cost me in the region of £1.15 per mile. So I guess the choices are these. Either suck it up, swap the car and get on with it, keep the car and get my money's worth out of it or sell it and buy a run around.
  11. Many thanks for all the feed back. Popped in to my local Skoda dealer today who was really helpful. They have a Race Blue Estate Black Design Plus 220 petrol available. Sweet looking car. Have booked a test drive in their demonstrator on Monday. I have to say I was floored at how much I'll have lost on the Superb. Feeling pretty gutted about that tbh. I'd basically be coming out of the car with nothing in it and starting again on a PCP. I'd be paying about a fiver a month less than I am on the Superb. Then I hear that you can't order a new build Vrs as they've stopped taking orders on them due to the FL coming in 2017. I'm now wondering if I should wait till the new car appears. From what I've seen on the net, it's a great looking car. Decisions decisions.
  12. Guys this is all really helpful stuff. Many thanks for taking the time to reply with your thoughts. I'm going to see if I can test drive both fuel types. I took a Golf GTD and GTi out last weekend and was impressed by both. The GTi was a 230 and that was very quick and a lot of fun but my wife has a Mk7 Golf GT TDi and I know how much more you get on the Skodas compared to VW. The larger boot would be really welcome. Are the Vrs Octavias good in the twisty bits???
  13. Had my Bolero in my old Superb II pack up in that fashion. Thought it had died and was in the process of finding a Columbus when the car failed to start on a short trip to the shops. I bought a new battery in the end having read posts on the forum. On fitting it, hey presto, the head unit was alive and kicking. Never did it again either. Maybe not related, but we know how under powered Skoda batteries can be.
  14. I'm very tempted to down size the Superb to an Octy Vrs. I've been a diesel driver for best part of twenty years but am now considering a change back to petrol. The diesel would be be more frugal and give good performance but I don't do starship miles per annum anymore so economy isn't as important as it once was. If you drive a Vrs, what fuel derivative did you go for, and would you buy differently if you had the chance to change again? Thanks in advance.
  15. I love a lot about my Superb, but I'm finding the fidgety handling unbearable. I overtook a slow moving van the other night and it just didn't feel safe. The DSG box never seems to know what gear it needs to be in. The engine, as noted by quite a few In this thread, is underwhelming. If I could get it feeling more settled and sort the DSG out, I think I'd be a lot happier with it.
  16. I got to drive a GTD DSG Golf Estate today. 184PS/181BHP? I found it knocked my Superb 190 DSG in to a cocked hat in every way except equipment level. Skoda, what have you done to our cars?
  17. I went to the portal to download the latest data for mine and it said no updates available for this VIN. My car was reg'd last September and hasn't been updated since I bought it in February this year so I'm a little surprised there are no updates if July was the last release.
  18. Were your dealers sympathetic regarding that rattly glovebox? Mine has started rattling. I think it's catch related.
  19. Is there a known issue with the AFS system? I don't seem to be alone in thinking mine don't appear to do anything other than the little sequence on start up.
  20. I can't see any difference at any speed. Mine seem to be heavily biased to the left and range seems static. Can they be tested for function at the dealers? I've always suspected mine don't work!
  21. Should I be considering 245's? Just seen prices on them. Ouch.
  22. You've got the idea. At around 1850kg kerb weight, most single axle vans should be fine. Just don't exceed the user payload on the van or the car's axle weights. The car has the grunt, it just needs the weight to be safe.
