Engine
I have the 2.0 TSI. Never left thinking that I could do with a few more BHP. However if it's mpg you are chasing don't buy one. Local trips about 35mpg. Long steady motorway, A roads etc I get 45+mpg. As I only do about 7k miles per year I'm not too bothered about mpg. Of the 7k miles probably about 2.5k is towing a caravan when I get 30 - 32 mpg which is pretty good.

Buy
I had a 2012 Octavia vRS CR DSG for 13 years and changed to a 2.0 Sportline in March of this year. No regrets. Octavia was better on fuel and handling. For everything else the Karoq wins hands down. Saying that the Octavia was better on handling needs a bit of clarification - having lower and stiffer suspension there was less body roll. The Karoq has more roll but I've never felt unsafe in it. I don't have DCC so that might make a difference. In the Karoq I've never thought - I wish I was in my old Octavia for a bit more performance.

The Petrol vs Diesel Dilemma
I went from a 2012 Octavia vRS CR to a 2.0 tsi sport line 4x4. The Karoq on a steady run will do mid to high 40s, the Octavia would do mid to high 50s. I tow a caravan. The Karoq is a much better tow car and the towing mpg is very similar to the Octavia. I used to do about 15k a year when working. Now do about 7k. The diesel just didn't make any sense for the mileage I do now. With the price of unleaded Vs diesel I'm not that much worse off.

Mib3 Map Updates 2025.02-06
Trying to download maps from https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en-US/Updates to update the Amudsen on my 2023 Karoq. Download keeps failing. I've tried downloading to a desktop with a ethernet connection, downloading to a laptop via wifi, tried different download folders. Gets to anywhere between 4GB and 16GB and then just stops. I'm keeping the PC awake by moving the mouse every so often. Any suggestions?

Towing with a Karoq
I made a similar move from a 2012 Octavia vRS CR DSG to a 2023 Karoq 2.0 TSI. I tow a caravan - 1300kg I really happy with the Karoq. Travelled from Andover to Leicestershire yesterday - 47mpg. Octavia would have probably done 57mpg. Towing mpg for the Karoq is about the same as the Octavia - low 30's. Usually about 32mpg. When towing on level DSG sits quite happy in 7th so revs are kept low. Above mpg figures for both vehicles are from the display so may not be accurate but are comparable. Karoq is a much better tow car. You almost forgot you have the caravan there - until you look in the rear view.

Potential Karoq Buyer
Didn't move from a Superb but from a 2012 Octavia vRS CR DSG to a 2.0 TSI Sportline a couple of months ago. My views may help you decide. The Karoq is much more comfortable on a longer journey. Seats are very supportive. Tech in the Karoq is in a different league to the Octavia. The higher driving position gives a better view of the road ahead. There's more body roll compared to the Octavia so have to be a little bit more careful if having fun. Obviously the MPG is quite a bit lower. Octavia would do mid 50s on a run, Karoq does mid 40s. However I only now do around 7000 miles per year compared to 15000 so it's something I can live with. The really big plus is that I tow a caravan and the Karoq is so much better when towing. MPG when towing is about the same as the Octavia, somewhere between 30 & 32. Overall, really impressed and no regrets about moving from the Octavia to the Karoq.

Octavia vRS CR to Karoq 2.0 tsi Sportline
Had my 2012 Octy vRS from new. Fantastic car and 124k miles of trouble free motoring. The only thing that failed was the driver window regulator last year. Not bad in 13 years of ownership. Will be picking up a 2023 Sportline in early March. Looking forward to it and will no doubt have lots of questions. Mark

Offside dipped beam not working
Hi 2006 vRS standard headlights Offside dipped headlight not working. Bulb is OK Earth to bulb holder is OK No 12v getting to bulb Unplugged main connector and the yellow wires have 12v I'm thinking that either the connector on the headlamp unit has a bad connection or there is a break in the wiring within the headlamp unit Anyone else had this problem with the offside dipped beam? Cheers Mark

Don't think this one would be any good https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Fabia-Mk1-Rear-Near-Side-Door-Window-Mechanism-Manual-Regulator-/133954069682?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5336836713&toolid=10001&customid=38947X1001323X402dca82d1770dc9d220d8edb06291a3 The window winder looks to be in the wrong place - mine is in the stamped out circle next to the one on the above part. Maybe this one is for rear electric windows?
