  1. Any ideas where to get factory rims for non rs models from? Ordered a car with 18" alaris rims and want a full sized spare. Dealer quoted ~660 aud (£350!!!!!) Just for the rim! At this stage waiting for a secondhand set to pop up on ebay. Sent from my GT-N8010 using Tapatalk
  2. Is there anywhere to buy a single alaris rim from? Want to put a full sized spare in the car. Dealer quotes almost $700 AUD (~£350) have to order as a spare part. I figured surely someone else has bought one....im in oz so expect hefty shipping but $700 is crazy money for one wheel and tire Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
  3. Yeah its funny how many people ive spoken to who if manual wagons were readily available, they would have bought it on the spot. Unfortunately for us aussies, VW Australia controls skoda, and they purposfully nueter it to make sure it doesnt take any VW sales. Which is stupid, as VW dont offer a manual wagon in anything but pov spec. I figure if we have to order the car, why cant they allow us to choose any combination we want, any options? Oh well, i'm happy with what I ordered, just the long, painful wait now. (then some mucking around with tint, vinyl wrap and accessories from superskoda when the car gets here)
  4. But in oz, cant get the 1.8TSI in manual.......no manual = instant fail for me. DSG just doesnt do it for me.
  5. Signed for my car today Octavia Wagon (ne: estate) (Ambition plus is the model in oz, not sure what it relates to in UK) Candy White 1.4TSI 6sp Manual The Tech Pack (Ambition Plus) includes the following equipment: Driving Mode Selection Bi-Xenon headlights with function AFS – Adaptive Frontlight System including integrated headlight washers, LED daytime running lights Front fog lights with cornering function, black-frosted glass design Rear LED lights Light assistant (coming home, leaving home, tunnel light, day light), rain sensor Inside rear view mirror with humidity sensor Adaptive Cruise Control including Front Assist with city emergency brake Automatic Parking Assistant and acoustic front and rear parking sensors Advanced keyless entry including smart start (KESSY) Premium German sound system 'Canton' (10 loudspeakers, digital equalizer) Colour Maxidot Comfort Bluetooth Alaris 18" Wheels Pretty chuffed. Brother in law is a signwriter, so will get him to wrap the roof in 3M carbon fibre vinyl, along with the wing mirrors. Will order the VW chrome key bottoms (x2), door sill scuff plates from superskoda, LED interior light kit (boot and map lights) - long term will do the amient lighting once someone figures it out. Would like the DTM front spoiler from superskoda also, but will wait till the car gets here before any major purchases. Should look pretty good as a run-about for the wife and kids. Now, the awful 3-4 month wait!
  6. In australia, they are quoting 105000 k's :( typical, we get screwed for pretty much everything here. It's ok though, I have an excellent independant that is very familiar with all VAG cars (inc porsche and audi) and charges less than the dealer! Still, I dont trust belts - had one let go years ago on a car inside its service interval and bent a few valves. Never had a chain go on any vehicle i've owned, and ive owned a few that had a lot of k's on them! Price you pay I guess - just cant afford the rs, otherwise i'd get another rs tsi manual wagon.
  7. Damn! I frikken HATE belts with a passion.....chains are vastly more reliable (abeit with worse NVH), dont have any uber expensive service intervals and are generally just better. What interval is the change for the belt? Everywhere seems to have conflicting info - some say belt, others chain......I was under the impression it was effectively the 90tsi engine (which is chain) with some minor mods?
  8. Does the new 1.4TSI have timing chain or belt? I was under the impression it was chain (and based on scheduled service costs in australia, i'd say it would have to be. There's no $1K+ service (indicating a timing belt/water pump change)
  9. Hi all, about to order a new octavia wagon (combi) with a 103tsi engine and was wondering if the 103TSI has the same oil filter as the 90TSI and where everyone gets their genuine filters from? Will take it to the dealer for scheduled services, but will do oil/filter myself every 7.5K as the car does a few short trips (<8k's) a week. We are planning on keeping this car till it falls apart, so happy to do a bit extra myself to ensure a long service life. Will service 100% myself when warranty runs out. I'm in Brisbane Australia if that helps, but i've found most things in the UK are cheaper to ship than buying it here in oz......happy to buy 4 or more at a time to save shipping.
