  1. I didn't want to remove the bag in situ, just in case it split, so I just made sure that the engine was cold, sucked out the fluid with a turkey baster and put it into another container, released the expansion tank, disconnected the connector, released the upper hose and then released the lower hose with a pair of pliers. Removed the silicon bag with a pair of long nose pliers and then refitted in reverse order, using the fluid I removed during removal. It saved all the hassle of having to top up an empty system.
  2. I can confirm the wheel bearing has to be removed to allow the guard to be fitted, there are three screws behind the disc that need removed. I replaced mine a month ago, while replacing the discs.
  3. I have used the Motorola MA1 dongle for the past year, all in all a very good unit, occasionally has a blip, but 97% of the time it is fine. I leave mine plugged in constantly, and have had no battery drain issues at all. Hope this helps.
  4. Very nice. I like the look of that, not to extreme. Definitely tempted myself. Possibly on my Christmas list.
  5. Hi , Obviously you mentioned how much the parts cost , could I ask how much you paid for fitting or did you do it yourself? I like the sound of this myself, the fact you have kept the Bilstein B4's as an OEM part, and used the Eibach springs to lower it, sounds like a really good idea. Love the way it passed the wife test🤣 Any chance of a picture?
  6. Visibility was awful when I got my VRS a few years back. I purchased my wide angle wing mirror glasses from here L/H R/H .Really happy with these. Just check compatibility first. I did have a heater fail on me once, I just bought another. Hope this helps.
  7. Hi Alan, I haven't done the job myself, although I have come across a useful video, albeit for a Mk7 Golf, it may give you some useful hints, personally for me, I think I would take it to an independent. Hope this helps. Paul
  8. Take a look at this discussion here, it should answer your question. I had the same issue. The fix is an additional switch assembly fitted to the DSG selector which can be seen here. Apologies its in Russian. I believe that some people had their DSG selector box replaced under warranty, only for the fault to return some months later. I replaced the switch over 18 months ago and have not had the fault return.
  9. The modern day version is called Ghost. See it here
  10. Agree with everyone, during the summer the cars water temp heats up very quickly, but personally, and I feel more importantly is the oil temperature, it always tends to take a few more minutes for the oil temp to start reading 50 degrees centigrade after the water temp has got up to normal, and then another 5 mins (depending on what speed you are travelling) to get up to proper oil working temperature which for me is approximately 95 degrees centigrade. Obviously during the winter, with the cold air hitting the engine, it will take a much longer time for the two temperatures to reach working temperature.
  11. Although, using the Brembo catalogue here, and selecting what I believe to be your vehicle, and looking for the PR Code, it appears that they probably are 253mm. Hope this helps, would be worth a measure though.
  12. 1KD = Disc brakes rear But the PR code is not specific over size. The only way will be to measure them I'm afraid.
  13. Wheel bearing drone on mine....convinced it was nearside, even diagnosed as nearside, changed the bearing still droned....changed the off side....issue sorted.
  14. Is this the answer to your problem, relatively cheap, and can't imagine it would be a hard thing to change.
  15. I have checked my info / pdf's (taken from erWin) and again its shows the same images as you. Obviously a very elusive image. Sorry about that.
  16. Just for information the micro switch harness assy consists of 4 parts, 1 - a connector that connects to the dsg selector mechanism. 2 - a connector that connects to the car harness. 3 - a small black box that you Velcro to the dsg mechanism (I believe this has a circuit board in it which disables the switch within the dsg mechanism itself that is causing the problem). 4 - a micro switch assy that is fitted to the top of the selector mechanism, which is firstly secured with a screw and then with two metal clips, once the switch has been setup using the method shown in the procedure ANOTHER two clips are fitted. Once this has been done there is no way the switch assy can ever move, they would have to be forced off because they dig/cut into the plastic. I have been really happy with the fix on my Octavia and it has saved me a great deal of money.
  17. But mine is a 6 speed DSG petrol, so I don't know where you are getting your info from, and my oil and filter were changed @38000. Again, the petrol 2.0L tsi engine (2016 / chhb engine / mqb platform) has a cam chain and as such, there is no requirement to change it.
  18. Unfortunately James if there are no paper invoices with the car, you will not be able to tell if it has been done or what has been done over the past 6 years, short of accepting the skoda online history. The main things changed during a minor / major service on a petrol car would be the engine oil and filter, air filter (although even they are long life now), pollen filter and spark plugs at 40,000 the rest would just be visual inspections and lubes and general top ups. Brake fluid change at 3 years and every 2 years after I believe as well. Worth checking the air conditioning, for proper function, that is an item people forget, and should really be looked at / inspected, and topped up. My Mk2 vRS ended up needing a compressor, another expensive job. So ultimately, with no receipts, you would just have to take your chances. My petrol Vrs (CHHB engine) has a timing chain and not a belt and as such shouldn't require replacing. Is the vehicle coming with a warranty?
  19. Hi James, 1. Pretty normal nowadays, when I purchased mine, all I got was a printout of the Skoda (Complete Record) of when the vehicle had been serviced, although it was backed up with the service invoices. 2. As long as the service interval clock has been reset on the vehicle, it will notify you on the MFD (multi function display) or in car display when it requires a service, depending on how the vehicle has been set up. Depending on driving style an oil changed may be requested before a minor / major service is required. You can go through the in car menu and look at the information. Take a look here to see what forms part of a service. Worth mentioning the DSG gearbox requires an oil and filter change every 40,000 miles, Make sure its done, you don't want to have issue with that. Suggest finding a good/reliable Skoda/VW independent specialist 3. Having owned mine for over a year, my only issues have been bulging front tires, make sure they are at the correct pressure and check, noticed after i drove away from the forecourt (after purchasing) and checked the pressures. I have had a wheel bearing fail, when driving at approx 70 mph I was getting a "wooh wooh wooh" noise from the front of the car. I have had an issue with DSG selector bringing up a message on the MFD while driving, in the past it meant a new mechanism although now there is a modification that has come out that bypasses the switch that causes the problem and replaces it with a new switch that is fitted onto the selector mechanism. It has been discussed in this forum quite a lot here . The mechanism is approx £1000 inc fitting, so I was happy when the modification kit came out. Can't think of anything else, hope this helps. Maybe other people can add to this post. Think the car itself is great, lots of fun and I can fit the family in it as well. Enjoy! Paul
