I have had this issue. Unfortunately it will very likely require the Mechatronics unit replacing. Mine had to be replaced at 49000 miles, luckily under warranty.

I had this on my Octavia scout tdi fitted with the dq381. Needed a new MCU thankfully under warranty. The car was 4 years old and had covered 49,000 miles

Well known issue with the Mechatronics unit on the dsg Q381. Had the same issue on my Octavia scout. Unfortunately he will probably need the mechatronic unit swapping.

I believe that they are the same.

I have used rearguards for my 2019 scout. Just google “rearguards “

Mine was still under warranty so a no brainer for me.

Hi mine went to the dealership on the 27/12 with the fault above. I got it back on the 30/01

Re costs, if it is the mechatronics then probably about £2000, that’s what the dealer said mine would have cost!

Sorry 2019 scout. I also have a friend with a karoq dsg awd that has just started to have the same issue. Obviously a generic fault with the dq381 gear box.

I have a 209 scout. Just before Xmas I had the same message, and the car would only select the even gears after a journey of over 50 miles. Once left to cool down all was ok on short distances, but kept happening on long distances. Eventually had to have the mechatronics unit swapped. Luckily the car was still under warranty. The mileage was just under 50k. The dealer had the car for 30 days due to a shortage of replacement units!

Hi ,it was the me mechatronics unit that was replaced.

Whilst I don’t have a Superb, I do have an Octavia Scout 2019 fitted with the Dq381 dog. There is a known issue with this Dsg where the Mechatronics unit fails and the dsg will only select even gears. This is an intermittent problem that in my case only occurred on longer journeys above 50 miles. You get an error message “gearbox in emergency mode, safe to drive “. My car has only been driven normally, no heavy acceleration etc and had just don 50 thousand miles.c. thankfully I took out the 5 year warranty from new. My car went in on the 27th of December and due to component shortages, I only got it back on Friday 26/01. So make sure you get a warranty .

Update, just been informed by the dealer that the car needs a new mechatronics unit. Thankfully I paid for the 5 year full warranty when the car was registered.

Hi, I have a 2019 Octavia scout with the dq381 dsg gearbox. I have started having the dreaded “gearbox in emergency mode, safe to drive on “. This started 2 weeks ago when the mileage reached 49900 miles. The car is booked into the dealership on Wednesday the 27th. I have not driven it hard from new, so yes I would say that there is an issue with these dsg vehicles.

George, unfortunately I can’t help you with the switches , but I would be very interested in how you added the extra sound deadening, and what products you used. Thanks for sharing your experience.
