Automatic transmission going into 'emergency mode'

Featured Replies

I have a friend with '19 Kodiaq with automatic transmission.

He has this issue that when he drives on the highway and gears down from 7th to 6th gear, the transmission system reports that it's going into this emergency mode because of an error. Then he can only drive very slowly - or he can change to manual transmission - but even on manual transmission, he can only use the even gears (2nd, 4th and 6th).

When he stops, turns off and starts again - there are no issues - but when he goes up to 7th and down again to 6th - then the same thing happens again.

Skoda has analyzed with a testing device but there are no saved fault codes to read on the system.

I hope someone knows this quite particular issue and what to do.

Well known issue with the Mechatronics unit on the dsg Q381. Had the same issue on my Octavia scout. Unfortunately he will probably need the mechatronic unit swapping.

just had this in my skoda kodiaq '18 (dsg q500 gearbox). The mechatronics unit was the issue, quite expensive to sort out - described my story here:
