  1. The sensor is not removable but the header tanks can be bought for around £15 on eBay and I think dealers are cheap too.
  2. Quite possibly mate, I've seen quite a few tow bar electrics installed using the blue scotch connectors so it would really depend on how good a job they did on removing them, they may not have properly reinsulated the wires. Of course I could be barking up the wrong tree and it could be something else entirely different from this but it's certainly worth investigating.
  3. have a look at the wiring around the rear lights incase it has or had towbar electrics. It sounds like there is a short somewhere which is supplying power to the fogs when the tail lights are on. If you can't find any wiring issues try changing the bulb holder if you can get a spare.
  4. I've got a race chip tuning box and it's surprisingly good, has an actual digital chip inside it. I'd think my car is running somwere in the region of 230bhp going by my "performance tests"
  5. Take note of the gunson saying to use low pressure and not full tyre pressure, I've seen master cylinders ruined due to using 30psi.
  6. Rear disc guards are notorious for contacting the discs. Try looking for shiny material around the gaurd where the lip of the disc is. Mine rusted around the bolts (they all do this eventually) and I ended up removing them completely as they are about £25+vat a side iirc.
  7. The price may well be to do with the plugs now using iridium, seems to me that iridium wasn't used when I first started working on cars.
  8. My MIL came on today and I had a few fault codes listed. To me they seem to point to needing a new flap motor but I'm wanting a second opinion. A couple of thousand miles ago I had the manifold off and cleaned the inlet valves, I cannot remeber if the flaps were cleaned though as two of us did the job. this is the fault codes from the car today, the evap one is an existing code that was there before the rest of them. 9. Yes, s3 hoses will fit. On the back of my calipers there was a metal bracket that needed the hole enlarged to fit the banjo for the brake hose to fit through, otherwise it was a direct fit.
  10. Mk5 golf back box sits across the back of the car so won't fit. I bought a "custom" 3" downpipe for a mk5 off eBay that allegedly fitted the standard exhaust but it didn't fit the octavia, I only found out after I cut my mid section and ended up having to buy a milltek cat back to replace the standard one I cut, I think the downpipe will fit the milltek with a bit of work but haven't tried yet. I'd assume from this hat the downpipes are also different. Before I got the milltek I was looking for a second hand one and struggled like you say, I bought a used blueflame and the guy never sent it so beware of this seller as he reposted it twice and never sent items to other buyers. It was a black 07 plate tdi, oval tailpipe and the seller was called something like dazzamk3.
  11. Do some VRS's come with two button keys? If not I can't really see the reason for a release button. My boot is unlocked with two presses of either the unlock button on the key or center console. I can also unlatch it with the 3rd button on the key. Some Fords have them on the dash but they don't have a release on the actual boot lid.
  12. For specific bolts like these just go to the dealer, they won't be too dear. It's also know they are the correct tensile strength and you won't eject a shock on a bend some morning when you are late for work.
  13. I've been offered a cheap eBay twincooler set up by a guy local to me. Are these direct fit for the octavia or are they different? If they are different does anyone know what's involved in making them fit? Cheers
  14. it comes apart pretty easy and I'm sure there are guides on here, from memory you'll need a 6mm socket, flat blade and a t30 torx
  15. Is the AliExpress one a direct fit? Only asking as it comes with wiring.
  16. Yeah it was surprisingly loud for a standard car, the exhaust was all one piece too so it's not as if it had been altered. When I say loud it was still a good bit quieter than my non resonated milltek but it had a nice growl to it. The exhaust on mine was very similar to the mk4 golf set up with the rear box and then the circular resonator just before the right angle bend at the end of the tunnel.
  17. My mk2 pre FL VRS did not have the box closest to the axel, it had a circular resonator in the tunnel and the rear box only.
  18. I take it those number plate lights won't fit a pre-FL? Mine are festoon LEDs but not as bright/white as I'd have hoped.
  19. I've got vredstein ultrac vorti on my 18's and they are phenomenal in the dry but I had a Wee slide on the way home from work on Friday so I'll be changing to rainsport 3's next week. Don't think I'll go as far as winter tyres though.
  20. I've got the -30 or whatever the other H&R springs are and I'm really happy with the ride quality, hardly feels any different from standard as far as comfort goes. I'm not really happy with the ride height tho and will be looking to change to -40/50 ones. I will be interested to hear what you think of the ride quality on the ones you have.
  21. Sounds like a sticking caliper, easy to rebuild but I do have experience doing so, might be fairly daunting for someone less experienced. There are plenty of videos on YouTube of how to rebuild them, alternatively you can just replace the caliper with a reconditioned unit. Both jobs require bleeding of the brakes.
  22. Cheers Willy, I must have found the ones that fitted the diesels as I was sure darkside wanted over £500 but I see now it's £300.
  23. Cheers mate, that's pretty much what I thought but seems strange that the cupra will map to over 300bhp with no intercooler upgrade and our cars won't. Think I'll give it a miss and just get an s3 one then. Does anyone know if you can still buy the metal end tanked s3 one from the dealers?
  24. I'm looking at upgrading my intercooler and I've been pricing the s3 cooler however I've found a few mk2 leon cupra ones for cheap, are they the same? They seem to map to the same power as an s3 with no cooler upgrade and obviously they use a k04 so going by that id say they are however they are mega cheap compared to the s3 ones so I'm a bit skeptical. Cheers.
