  1. I have the Swing head unit but I think that this will be the same for all stereos: Just put whatever music files you have into one single folder on the USB stick, press the MEDIA button to select the USB input, press the MIX button and it will play the files randomly. I have a few folders on the stick with different music in each depending on what I fancy listening to at the time I have a Sandisk Cruzer Fit USB stick as it's tiny and doesn't stick out as much as the other types.

  7. Decided to take some updated shots when we were up at the caravan today. Since my original pictures in this thread I have added Monte Carlo front fog and rear tail lights, Monte Carlo decals that I found on a website that let you choose the year (I chose the year I bought the car) and new on yesterday, a set of 15" Dezent TD graphite alloys with Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance 185/60 R15 88H XL tyres. I still have a few more things to do like change the mirror caps if I can actually work out how to remove the glass without breaking it and possibly a black vinyl roof and maybe some more goodies at the next Superskoda 20% off weekend.
  8. I'm having a set of Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance 185/60 R15 XL tyres fitted tomorrow morning and they were only £1.50 more per tyre than the standard ones - They were about £61 each. The reason that I have bought extra load ones is that I do carry a lot of weight in the car from time to time, I enjoy driving and cornering quickly (but safely) and I hate the saggy look the fronts especially get after a while. Although they're not entirely necessary for a car as light as this, the relatively low cost over the standard ones made it well worthwhile to get them, even for the tiniest gains in cornering etc They are still rated B for fuel economy, A for wet grip and are 67dB which is the same as the standard ones Time will tell how they compare to the factory fitted Conti Ecocontact tyres which I managed to get 19500 miles out of on the fronts without rotating them before they got near the minimum legal wear marker
  9. I came from 2 Honda Civics that had buttons and lights everywhere - auto lights that would come on themselves, ditto with the auto wipers. I like that my car has manual a/c so I can control it as I want, I like that it doesn't have loads of gadgets. If I needed them I wouldn't have bought the car. I specified 4 things when I bought it: rear discs (tiny thought they are), 6 speed gearbox as I was used to it the Hondas, a/c just because and cruise control as like to use it on long journeys. It's just a fun car to drive and I've decided after much temptation that I am keeping it for the long term
  10. The heated windscreen is offered on some Octavias and Superbs. I was sure that Ford had a patent on the design of theirs so I'm not sure how the Skoda version works Since I am here, I have the notchback but for me the positive points are that it is pretty pokey for what it is and not much short of acceleration compared to my previous Honda Civic 1.8. It also pulls better on up hill sections of road than the Honda. The boot is huge, partly due to not having any cubby holes or pockets which means that it's all yours to do with as you wish. I have found that there is a big blind spot from the A pillar, the rumbling noise can be fixed by adjusting the bump stops for the tailgate, the condensation is dreadful in the winter and the suspension seems to wallow when taking tight, slow corners overall thought I love it and plan on keeping it. I have been tempted by a few cars over the past few months (new Fabia, new Octavia, new Honda Civic)but none of those has made me seriously want to change the car. Some people complain about the handling. It's not a sports car and never will be but if you drive it properly it's a lot of fun. I'm a driver and enjoy proper driving on twisty roads and if it handled like a bed, like my Vauxhall Vectra did, it would have been traded for something else long ago. The fact that I still have it means that I enjoy driving it. I'm not a boy racer but I have surprised a lot of other motorists with much sportier cars by how good it handles.
  11. Cool I managed to work it out - the manual tells you to insert the tool into the hole at the top but that doesn't seem to do anything. Inserting it in the middle hole and then pulling it releases it and lets you unclip the other clips easily
  12. I've bought myself Monte Carlo tail lights and front fog lights and was going to fit them today. The instructions in the manual to change the fog light bulb state that you use the little round tool in the spare wheel thingy. I tried inserting it where the diagram stated but it doesn't seem to do anything. I can't find a clip or anything that this will unhook to remove the surround to get to the fog light screws themselves. Has anyone changed their fog light bulbs and is there something that you need to do that the manual doesn't specify?
  13. One of the first things I did was get the windows tinted. It cost me £180 which is about average around my way and they did a fantastic job. Can't see much at night but it does look good. Regarding blindspot mirrors - if you adjust your mirrors correctly then you won't need them. For years I had mine adjusted so that I could see along the side of my car then I read something online about setting them wider. I can now see everything from the mirrors and if I lean forward slightly I can still see the side of my car for whatever reason I needed to originally. I still always look over my shoulder before pulling out though
  14. There's no coding involved. The wiring connects into the tail lights then makes it's way up the offside to the fuse box. I had the Skoda 13 pin electrics fitted to my car earlier this year with a Brink towbar. Connect to the trailer and away I go. It would be a pain to remove as there is a lot of trim to remove to get to the wiring plus you have to rewire the tail lights using a tool that costs £230 from Skoda but realistically should be a could of pounds - they just don't want you doing it yourself. As mentioned before, just tuck the connector up behind the bumper wrapped in a plastic bag to protect the connections in case you or a future owner wants to use it
  15. It was one brochure containing all of the models but no Rapid hatch and no mention of the Rapid name at all, only Spaceback that I found odd
  16. I received a couple of brochures through the door over the weekend from the dealer that I bought my car from. Inside they showed all of the latest offers but while flicking the pages saw the latest offers on the "Skoda Spaceback". no mention of the word Rapid anywhere and no sign of the bigger version. Are they trying to forget about it or are they discontinuing it? Seems a bit odd after making modifications to this year's models that they would just bin it. Both the Rapid & Toledo are still available on the configurator pages of their respective websites and they're still both popular with taxi drivers. Anyone have any info?
  17. Thanks for the info Estate Man. I'm 2 years into a 3.5 year PCP deal and fancy a change. The car is booked in for it's second service with only 16k on the clock on Saturday so I'm going to see if they can do me a deal
  18. I've got a 105 TSI in my Rapid and am thinking about going for the 110 TSI Fabia - does it still do the same thing where if you're in second and want to accelerate there's nothing for a couple of seconds until the turbo kicks in then away it goes?
  19. I still have the original battery in mine since I took delivery at the end of November 2014
  20. It sounds like the rubber bump stops either side of the tailgate need to be adjusted. If you can get a set of hex keys it's a fairly simple job to adjust them - too much and you'll get the famous Rapid rumbling so just lower bit at a time. Mine, like most, were too low causing a rumbling noise. as for the washer, other than checking the washer fluid level I'm not sure about that one
  21. It's just a terrible car for misting up. Not that it's a terrible car, just incredibly awful for getting steamy windows I used to have the heat at half way and the blowers to full but if you put the heat to full it clears a lot quicker, even when the engine is cold. Although not as quick as giving the screen a wipe which is what I've resorted to with a microfibre cloth. My absorbent baggy dehumidifier thing is on the radiator now and will be going into the car tomorrow. I've had to scrape ice off the inside of the windscreen in the past:
  22. Sorry, I meant the round Skoda emblems front and rear. One of the first things I did was remove the badges either side of the tailgate and the dealer sticker from the rear window. Just thinking that it's going to be more difficult due to being recessed.
  23. Hpw did you go about removing the Skoda emblems? I've been toying with the idea of doing this before but had been told incorrectly that the indentations that are used for lining up the badge went right through the bodywork and the badge attached on the inside.
  24. If it's any consolation I find the seats very comfortable but I don't have the sports ones. I've found sports seats in general to be fine if you're a boy racer and want that "held in" feel but for comfort you can't beat regular seats. I got rid of my last Civic partly because of the uncomfortable seats and hard side bolsters mentioned above. There sure is a lot of moaning going on in the forum about things that should really have been checked prior to parting with such a large amount of money.
