  1. . We would have been saying this about Skoda 20 years ago...
  2. Out of interest andyvee, how do you find out your code has changed. Keep calling the dealer?
  3. Like any good football transfer rumour, until the player is pictured in his new colours/ the Skoda keys are in your hand, don't believe a thing the Dealer/ lease company tell you. I've decided to forget i've ordered my first new car. It arrives when it arrives.
  4. I don't feel sorry for you. I yearn for a big Aussie V8. How much is a 3 year old Falcon v6 turbo/ V8 Wagon/ Holden Commodore HSV Wagon? (pardon my ignorance, I don't know the specs of these cars) One of these has to be worth a punt and to hell with the fuel/ tire bills . You only live once
  5. Derv, I'm in a very similar boat to you family-wise/ patience wise, I'm also tall, and have ordered the estate. Our first/new dog is a german sheppard puppy (big dog) and we got him a cage to protect him/ the interior when he is full size. The cage will consume most of the boot area. Without the cage/ a smaller breed of dog, there would be no need for the estate IMO, the boot floor is the same footprint for both hatch and estate. Chances are that your SE order will arrive before January latest. There are lots of stories of SUK issuing courtesy cars, surely they would do this for you given your genuine need for a bigger car temporarily. IF you don't ask, you don't get. Good luck with the pregnancy BTW
  6. Don't forget, I'm in Prague, not UK, so Dock delays/ shipping are less of an issue this close to the Mlada Boleslav plant
  7. An isolated incident, which got a suitable resolution. Not cancelling my order just yet
  8. Ordered my VRS beginning of September. Arriving mid November, 11 weeks delivery est, your stealer is talking :moon:
  9. For those of us out of reach of a newsagent, is there a link. ON what grounds was the car rejected? Orange peel paint would be my guess, given some eamples i've witnessed up close in Prague
  10. I'm not sure it matters. Fast talented disciplined drivers ready to turn it up to 11, How many drivers have failed to progress up the grid through lack of options. The churn of driver turn over needs to be higher, when you think a team like Lotus have circa 700 employee's all focused on prepping two cars and then Maldonado repeatedly throws it in the barriers?
  11. Arguably, Gutierrez has matched the more experienced Sutil this year. Unfortunately, I cant see Sauber being around for much longer/ climbing off the foot of the table, so this problem should remove itself. I know its contentious, but without budget caps, a 3rd chassis for 7 teams would be a more competitive grid than the back three teams at present. I remember Ford's dominant 3 car team in the supertouring era of the BTCC #properracing
  12. Perhaps Rosberg was harsh, although he needs a step change right now to challenge for the series on merit, which IMO won't happen. I was over the moon Massa returned to F1, but a contract for next year, based on this years performance? Really? And Jenson/ Vergne might be out of a drive at the same time? Scandalous.
  13. For instance, if I were Ferrari, and were offered 2005/ late 2007/ 2012 Raikkonen, i'd rip your hand off, but he has been dire this year. Surely there are non performance ties in his contract?
  14. In a world without sponsor backing/ nationality influencing driver choice, and ignoring distant past performances as justification for current contracts, who would you eliminate from the current F1 grid as "dead wood"? I could happily cull the following without blinking: Raikkonen Massa Sutil Rosberg Maldonado and Chilton. I can't think of one occasion any of them have impressed or even surprised me this year. I think Grosjean, Vergne or Hulkenberg would be alot closer to Hamilton on pace than Rosberg is at present. Thoughts?
  15. Wow that's poor CS. You need to engage the exec CS team at SUK. I would park and lock it in their foyer if they keep this up.
  16. Insurance schemes vary within dealerships. A 5000 excess is excessive, I wouldn't take the chance myself, I've paid for an insurance waiver on a courtesy car before, although that was for a service, not a recall.
  17. Do you have access to your bank account online? I've sold and bought cars privately using an online bank account. In most cases, the online transaction is instant, free, and risk free. I wouldn't want to travel around with that sort of wedge on me either. You can test how long it takes by sending a test amount to check how long it takes. Then you can turn up, sign the papers, the seller can witness you make the transfer/ check for receipt of monies, and then you drive away. Don't try doing this on a Sunday mind, as the payment will be processed first thing Monday morning. do it during bank working hours and you;ll be ok.
  18. Thanks, I'm asking questions I could answer myself if my car was here already, I really appreciate you taking the time to input into my request. If your seat is non ISOFIX, does that mean it is held in place just with seat belt, no tether or foot? Could i pry and ask what your childs height/age/weight is? The trouble we have is that the group 1 RF seat we currently use is now a squash, its difficult for him to climb into/ out of, and (perhaps selfishly) i want to avoid muddy shoes on the leather of the back seats (I want to turn him round to get mud on the back of the front seats instead :peek: ) Do you have any links to substantiate the "1% percent safer" you mention, I'm interested. Thanks
  19. themanwithnoaim - Thanks for your insight. Could you elaborate a little on your point, in the event of an accident, the seat/ isofix points/ car belts are designed to absorb the energy of the crashing a predictable & safe way, are you arguing the ISOFIX works against this? I searched on youtube for "ISOFIX rationale/ ISOFIX EURO NCAP performance" and drew a blank. I'd be interested to view the videos you make reference to if you can find the link. I have read conflicting evidence of ISOFIX Increasing/ decreasing risk of injury is both frontal and side impacts. http://www.which.co.uk/baby-and-child/baby-transport/guides/isofix-child-car-seats/are-isofix-car-seats-safer http://www.britax.co.uk/customer-service/faq HuSkoda - Thanks for your input. I've done some searching on the 18kg limit. Is your interpretation of this rating limit simply that above 18kgs the ISOFIX points aren't guaranteed to secure the seat in place, or that it is "incorrectly/illegally fitted" to have a 18kg+ infant sat in a seat with ISOFIX points engaged? My understanding is that this weight limit is for Rear facing ISOFIX seats only? Again, do you have useful links? 1600CR - You are the people we imagined we were looking for! :-) We thought we were going to get the Guardianfix pro 2 until my son had a test fit a few weeks back and realized he was on the limit already for the impact cushion addition, meaning we wouldn't use that feature and could go for the group 2 version. My son is 2 years 4 months old, 15.6 kgs, 94 cms tall. Do you have/ use a top tether on your Kiddy? If yes, where is the third point in the Octavia? Now I’ve learnt a little about what these are/ what they prevent, I’ll be asking about them at the store at the weekend… Thanks all for your input; this is/was much more valuable than I initially thought it would be :-)
