Thank you all ! Just noticed, front left tyre has got extensive wear on outer edges. Going to get an alignment done soon.

Hi All My car hasn't had a wheel alignment since new. 30000 kms on odo now. Does it need a wheel alignment at this mileage? Also, has anyone done a 'normal' wheel alignment on a ACC equipped car without any problems? Thanks!

Hi All, My car is 1.4TSI with DSG. I was on a highway doing 110 kph. Flicked the gear stick to sports mode to overtake a truck. Car lost the power instantly and started slowing down. Lucky, I didn't ran into oncoming traffic. No fault lights came on. It sounded like a slipping clutch when I tried to accelerate. It also felt like the car was running out of fuel(the more I accelerated, the more it slowed down). Luckily there was some room to pull over. Everything was back to normal as soon as I stopped the car. That was the scariest experience I ever had in a car. I am going to take it to the dealer this week. Is this the infamous VW DSG problem?

Does it happen when the window is not fully closed?

Aussie Ocky 3 - Columbus and (lack of) DAB Radio
Sak replied to Lrwoz's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I don't have a VCDS cable. So, I paid someone else to do it for me. He barely took five minutes to do it. -
Aussie Ocky 3 - Columbus and (lack of) DAB Radio
Sak replied to Lrwoz's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I've got traffic updates working on Columbus. Not sure about DAB -
My car did this a couple of times. It happened when the car was stuck in stop and go traffic for a while in warm weather. Dealer was not able to find any problems in the transmission. I've done 10000 kms after that. The sound hasn't returned yet.

It happened once soon after I setup favourite destinations. Navigation didn't start. Had to reset navigation data to factory settings.

My car does that from day one. Covered 17000 kms.

I haven't noticed any 'vertical pitching'. Only problem I have is the ride quality over horizontal cracks (like bridge gaps). It transfers the force straight to my spine.

Treads seems good. Fronts on 5 mm and the rears on 5.5 mm

Thanks Gerrycan, I'll talk to my dealer about testing another car with same configuration. As I said above 34 Psi does seems to improve ride quality. Still it is harsh compared to the other cars I owned. May be I am spoiled by the ride of my previous Maxima

103tsi torsion beam vs 132tsi multilink
Sak replied to Reichter's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
If you do a lot of city driving then torsion beam is very uncomfortable. It is bouncy and unsettled on city speeds. Much better on highways. My car is on 18" wheels. -
Thanks All, I checked my tyre pressure at another Fuel station. Looks like the pressure gauge in my local fuel station is 3 PSI off. i.e. it was displaying 34 PSI when actual pressure is 31 PSI. Inflated the rears to 34 PSI. Ride is not bad as before. Any thing below 33 PSI makes the rear suspension very harsh. Is this normal?

Thanks Moley. Tyres have done only 13000 kms. I've rotated them last week. Can't feel any improvement in ride quality. Here in Queensland it averages 35 degrees in summer. It also reach 45 degrees some days . Lucky you

My car is 1.4 Elegance on 18" Bridgestones. Ride was not bad until 11000 kms. After that it became gradually harsh. Now I can feel every crack on the road. Ride is so crashy and jarring. Asked my dealer to check the suspension. Everything is normal. I park my car under sun during work days. Do tyres harden with age / Heat? Does anyone else feel 18" bridgestones + Torsion beam rear unbearable?

Wheel Alignment and Adaptive Cruise Control
Sak replied to Sak's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Worst thing is, they've quoted 500 AUD to perform the Alignment and the car has to be driven to the nearest AUDI dealer. That is way too much for a wheel alignment! -
I only use Columbus when I don't have access to my Tom Tom navigator. Route calculation algorithms on Columbus is not efficient.

Wheel Alignment and Adaptive Cruise Control
Sak posted a topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Happy Easter to All. I have asked my dealer to perform a wheel alignment during the first schedule service. I was told that cars with Adaptive cruise control needs special wheel alignment and they don't have the equipment to do that. Which absolutely made no sense to me. Has anyone performed normal wheel alignment on a car with ACC? -
Surprised at performance 1.4 TSi
Sak replied to ednmra's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
True. I came from a nissan V6. I find 1.4 has ample power and torque for daily driving and safe overtaking. In addition to that, my fuel bill has cut in to half -
Is that a dual zone system?

Don't stress. It will fade away after 3000 kms. My car had very bad booming. It went away completely after 4000 kms. It is a hatch.

LED s run on "Duty Cycle" i.e they go on and off rapidly. It is very hard to see with a human eye. Brightness of LED s can be increased / decreased by varying the cycle. Camera shutter speed is not always in sync with LED cycle. That is what make LED s flicker on some videos.

A rusted blade on the road went straight in to the side wall of my Bridgestone Potenza 18". It had only done 7000 kms. Tyre was not legally repairable. Fitted a new one this evening from JAX. Had to wait for a day for the tyre to arrive. They are not cheap!
