water pump and timing belt warranty issue

Yes that's correct they are charging about £50 an hour. That's menu pricing! Average labour time is 2.5 hour's. Menu pricing is to make Skoda owners go to the local dealer and not the little garages. Xxxxxx -
water pump and timing belt warranty issue
FLAPPERJACK7 replied to brotherwarren's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
£220 sounds right genuine kit Inc vat. I agree with Trundlenut The Timing Belt has been contaminated with coolant and is now consequential damage. Skoda warranty will pay for the belt and water pump and coolant but they will not pay for the tensioner or rollers unless they are faulty. -
Tricky ! Looks like external influence.

Advice - Timing Belt Gone Skoda Superb
FLAPPERJACK7 replied to Mirtho's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
I have seen this before. In my opinion it's caused by levering the fuel filter cannister top or not lubricating the fuel filter housing seal and the seal gets pinched. Then it leaks onto the alternator drive belt which ruins the belt this breaks up and gets into the timing belt and bang. Do you have a receipt for the fuel filter replacement? The fact that the alternator belt looks brand new is probably because the garage has fitted it to hide there mistake. -

Definitely dearer going to a dealership but on the other hand it will guaranteed for 2 years and not one year. -

Also as you say parking nose down if it rains hard it's more likely to run into the a pillar plugs than straight down. -

Sounds weather related. Could be water in a pillar plugs or door looms. Don't think yours has a convenience control unit they are all central electric control units from 2010. -

Can a Runaway Engine be repaired
FLAPPERJACK7 replied to nbat58's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Think mannyo has summed this one up. Looking at the cost of £550 for the turbo was that a fitted including vat price? I assume it was a reman exchange part. If there was any destruction to the blade wheel of the turbo then the entire boost system must be removed inspected cleaned and likely the intercooler replaced. What does it state on your invoice? Otherwise any old piece of metal from the old turbo will sit in the charge air side and ruin your newly fitted turbo. -

If you fit the miltek ... I think you have just waved goodbye to your warranty on your engine? -
1.6 tdi update: timing belt every 5 years
FLAPPERJACK7 replied to jaxx007's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Been told that skoda's built before August 2010 are every 4 years for timing belts. Skoda's built from September 2010 are every 5 year's. -
When you press horn inside the car with ignition on no engine running do you hear a click noise? If you do that's the relay clicking which means the fuse is also Ok. Unplug the connection on the horn put a test light down the black and yellow wire and the other side down the brown wire. Press the horn and watch the test light if it lights up then your horn is faulty.

DIY 6 Speed DSG Oil & Filter Change
FLAPPERJACK7 replied to softscoop's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
£279.53 ...wow really expensive. Manufacturer labour time is 54 minutes . Some dealers like to do a basic setting as well so will obviously charge a bit more labour for the extra spent time. -

clunk noise when applying brake in reverse
FLAPPERJACK7 replied to Entertwainer's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Seen this countless times especially on brand new cars. Get it checked out to be sure but if it is minor movement from the pads then there's nothing to worry about. Will go as rust and dust accumulate. -
Rear brake lights not working?

When you fitted it did you twist it till it clicked? -
Cooling system needs checking with a pressure tester. ..fits onto header tank you pump it up to 1 bar and look for a leak.
-
Will definitely not fit.

Dealers can code this function out so it never happens again or increase the amount of time you have to press the button for it too happen. That button only has to be pressed for 3 seconds for it to happen. .. very easy if it's trapped in your pocket or in a handbag. -
Unlikely to be the matrix but possible. I can only remember changing one mk1 octavia matrix in the past 18 years so quite rare for the matrix to leak.
