I remember a few year's ago whilst working at a vw dealership a gentleman brought his Volkswagen in. His dog had eaten a rear seat belt. He wanted it replaced under warranty. I asked him what dog he had ? He replied a labrador oh I said no it won't be covered because it's not even a german breed. .......I get my coat.

I can see a lot irony here. Poor America. The biggest emission producer of the 20th century.

Hub is a bearing. One part on these vehicles. Not like the old days.

New compressor should come complete with 100% of the oil required for the complete system. So in theory vag say 50 % of the circuit oil lives inside the compressor. So undo the drain screw on the new compressor (before you fit it). Remove oil into a measuring jug will hold around 175 ml. Spin pulley by hand to get oil out. Then put 50 % back in. Then fit compressor.

Pretty sure there's a rear lid delay lock activation of about 30 seconds function. Can be done at the dealer's. So when you shut the boot it will not lock for 30 seconds giving enough time to realise what you have done. Irrc car's 2013 onwards. I also believe this function is supposed to be told to buyer's by the salesman. I very much doubt that this advice is being told to customers. Look in owner's manual read lid lock delay.

Bent the hub which is part and parcel of the bearing. It's all one piece. Made from Swiss cheese.

Cylinder leakage test first. Most good garages will have one.

Most extended warranty companies do not cover diagnosis.

Good video. Made me miss my old 90 tdi. Would gladly buy another. My only regret was not running it on veggie oil.

Jesus. ...High pressure switch is common. Always the 2nd item I check on a leak test. 1st item I check is condenser because of its vulnerability. The high pressure switch leaks through the electrical contacts. They should of charged for the part only and fitted for free.

If its not the injector and not the wiring. ..surely it can only be the engine control unit or the software? .

Well done Plumber. You had a good result. Well done Skoda for doing right.

Think the answer is in the bulletin. The bulletin make's it hard for the dealer to even try a warranty claim. 23 year's working for Audi and Volkswagen and Skoda I can only remember one case of a customer having disc's under warranty. Always worth a try though.... just don't hold your breath.

Ok sound's like a high positive deviation reading on injector one. 2.99 is very high. So its likely that the control plunger inside the piezo injector is not closing fully. Reading should be around zero. So . ....sounds like injector no1 is faulty. He could confirm this by swapping no1 over to no2 and taking the readings . If a new injector is required it will need to be coded afterwards.

Oil seperator /breather unit on top of camcover see if it's sucking in air. It breaks up inside and allows unmetered air in causing a weak mixture. Happens a lot and gives no fault codes. Causes the misfire.

Breaking VW Emissions Scandal -Mk I
in General Automotive Chat

Vw have issued recall instructions. I have just read them. They are going to drill an 8MM hole into the downpipe. That should pass the emissions test at the tail pipe now.
