  1. Hello Can anyone help me with the following questions about the Virtual Cockpit in the Superb III: 1) Is there any way to display the car's total mileage other than when the ignition is off? Or to toggle between mileage and trip? 2) Fuel consumption only ever displays as "since start of journey" in the virtual cockpit, any way to change it to show "since last refuel"? Thanks Chris
  2. LOL - thankfully not. Good old fashioned black leather. Just a trick of the light shining through next door's hedge.
  3. And here’s the iPad holder in place in the rear armrest.
  4. Grabbed some pics of the boot this evening with the new updated interior lights in place. A massive improvement.
  5. I don't have it on the boot lip (I've just bought a black plastic one for my Superb III hatch) but I have the same plastic film on the lower bodywork edge between the rear wheels and the back doors - it's pretty much invisible and hard wearing (was a factory fit to protect from stone chips and road grime I believe). I went with the black plastic trim for the bumper lip as it seems they only do the film for the estate now.
  6. I have been doing a little upgrade shopping from Kopacek (the site formerly known as Superskoda). Not much that needs upgrading on a Superb III to be honest, but a few bits I’ve been able to improve, and one purchase that turned out to be unusable: - Lid funnel for the washer bottle (have done this upgrade on both the Fabia IIs in the family and my old Spaceback - it’s such a good idea it’s a no-brainer). - Mega LED lights for the boot - these are a complete sealed body replacement for the boot lights (left and right sides of the boot) with much more powerful LEDs. Makes a massive difference. I did the same update in my Spaceback, which also suffered from a boot light with poor light output. - Black plastic boot lip protector. Sticks onto the top of the rear bumper and takes the hit if you catch the bumper putting anything in or out of the boot - Tablet Smart Holder - so now anyone sat in the back can mount their tablet using the Smart Holder attached to the rear armrest - Superb branded chrome keyfob tips (did both keys) The one mistake Inmade was ordering enhanced reflector/puddle lights for the front doors, only to discover the ones on my car are just reflectors and there’s no wiring there. Oh well, never mind. To do: - Uprated LED puddle lights for the underside of the front mirrors (now more important given the door reflectors can’t be upgraded) - Genuine Skoda roof bars More pics to follow.
  7. Ok, facelift model. What was the head unit it came with. Was it the Mk2 Swing or an Amundsen? Your previous Rapid was a mk1, and will have different radio wiring from your current car. If you can confirm what head unit the current car had I can tell you what, if anything, you can do.
  8. Swing is the basic option. Lowest spec radio in the range.
  9. Can you confirm if your Spaceback is a Mk1 or a mk2 (facelift)? If your side indicators are on the front wings, it’s a mk1, if they are built into your wing mirrors, it’s a mk2.
  10. Back in a Škoda after a two year break with a petrol MG ZS (was a nice car, my one worked, but was increasingly feeling mine was the exception rather than the rule so moved it on while still worth something). Had one of the first Rapid Spacebacks in the UK and kept it for over 8 years before trading it in against the MG. Lured back to both Škoda and regular height cars by a 2023 Superb 1.5 TSI SE Technology. A Škoda UK management car and one of the last made before the new model took over the production line. Was 11 months old when I got it at the beginning of June. It’s a hell of a car.
  11. Sadly, not designed to be repaired, but to rip and replace.
  12. Exactly. I’m hoping that all I need is either 5E3035954 or 5E3035954E (haven’t worked out the difference in the parts yet) which appears to be the missing port, with a plug that either plugs onto the loom or into a power distribution box either behind the trim on the windscreen or behind the courtesy light. But this is why I was hoping someone had already attempted it and could share some guidance. I’m surprised I seem to be the first to want to do this.
  13. Thanks but these look even uglier than a regular dash cam. I’ll stick with trying to retrofit the usb port.
  14. The USB port up by the mirror - if factory fitted - is just power, not data. No link to infotainment unit. No need for data/infotainment connection given it’s just there to power a dashcam.
  15. If anyone has any helpful advice on doing this retrofit it would be appreciated.
  16. Hi everyone I am now the proud owner of a year-old 2023 Superb Mk3 hatchback (1.5 TSI SE Technology). It does not seem to have the USB-C port on the windscreen behind the rear view mirror (just a little plastic blank where the USB-C port should be). So, the question is - how easy is it to retrofit the port and has anyone done it? Thanks Chris
  17. So the Bosch plug you mention above, (which is no longer made) seems to have been replaced by FR7HC+. But are you saying that either of the two options will work? I don’t really get what you mean by “Trade-off between slowing the erosion rate by having multiple, and shielding the spark (fewer is better).” I don’t understand what the downside would be (if any) of using the FR78X (4 pole) plugs over the single pole ones? sorry, spark plugs have always been a point of confusion on these cars for me.
  18. Sorry for the delayed response, been dealing with a family bereavement. Engine code is CGPA. Researching based on the engine code has confused me more, as retailers suggest that both the Bosch FR78X (4 pole) and the Bosch FR7HC+ (1 pole), im now even more confused which I should be using and whether they are interchangeable? any help appreciated. thanks Chris
  19. After two years away from the Skoda fold after selling my Spaceback, I visited Willis earlier this week to test drive a Superb. Great experience. Lee and Jason looked after me very well, gave me the keys and let me go out on my own with the car - so was able to do a proper test drive. The combination of a very impressive vehicle, an excellent trade in value for my existing car, a good finance deal and good service, I was happy to shake on a deal and I am now the proud owner of a nearly new Superb.
  20. Hello Can anyone confirm what the correct spark plugs would be for a 2012 1.2 HTP (3-cylinder) engine please? Euro Car Parts are offering me a variety of different options for the car, so not sure what to go with. There are different types of regular plugs with a single prong at the end, and also versions with 4 prongs on the bottom rather. I do know the four-prong ones are wrong, but no idea which of the others are correct. Would these work? https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/bosch-spark-plug-408440090 Thanks Chris
  21. OK @Satta - so we can help you, we need you to answer any questions we ask. Again. Has the AC ever been serviced? And if so, how long ago was the last AC service (not your car service, unless they serviced and regassed the AC at the same time). Does your Rapid have manual air conditioning or climate control? Have you checked and replaced the fuse for the AC system (correct fuses for your year of Rapid is fuse 9 (AC Compressor) and fuse 39 (fan blower) the locations are listed in your manual and the fuse box is located under the steering column rather than in the supplementary fuse pack on top of the battery. If it’s not the fuses or no AC gas, then you’ve burnt out one or more relays. The parts are cheap but difficult to install. Get an auto electrician pro to do it or a main dealer.
  22. Alas, you've discovered one of the problems with the Rapid. For all its good points (of which it has many), comfort is not one of them. The seats are not good (the biggest contributor to leg pain in the car), and if you are tall you will find it hard work to get a good compromise between legroom, pedal reach and steering column position. If you have the headroom, try jacking the seat up a bit, as it will help with legroom and pedal positioning.
  23. A little update, it didn't take too long for the car to find a new home. It was bought at auction by a dealer called LDSM Cars in Sydenham, South East London. Assuming they got the sticker price, they sold it for about £2,000 more than I traded it in for, which is fair enough. But the car is taxed again and on the road. Maybe its new owner will find their way here eventually.
