  1. These two videos from YouTube are also very informative: There are English translations for the text.
  2. Please excuse the dumb questions. As above I have threaded the Video connector through my tailgate, tight fit in the rubber sleeve. According to the wiring diagram that came with the camera and the diagram on the item (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32964908529.html) there is no blue connector as shown in the photos early on in this thread. So, do you just cut off the video plug and wire in to the blue plug as per the above, and if so where do you get the required 'pins' to use with the blue connector? Or do you need this? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Rear-View-Camera-RVC-Audio-Stereo-Cable-Adapter-for-VW-Golf-VI-Jetta5-AC1331/362990388523?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Dcb27b806a49840758e1b88db43bdabea%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D362990388523%26itm%3D362990388523%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DUnbranded%2FGeneric&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Ad62867ba-cb91-11ea-be6d-74dbd1806a3a|parentrq%3A73176a091730aaa32b8c3188fff48fca|iid%3A1 and swap the pins over from the original blue connector? Or just buy these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TE-CONNECTIVITY-AMP-963715-1-CONTACT-SOCKET-20-AWG-CRIMP-Price-for-10/171641862721?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Being the right connectors for the blue plug? Edited: I now realise that I should have saved myself the struggle and just cut the Yellow Video lead off!
  3. So right, making sure it could back up first is why I went for the PRO version. Got hiccups?
  4. Spent most of this afternoon and some of this morning installing the camera, the lowline from Aliiexpress as on this thread, Got the handle in, wired up and cables up the tailgate and through the rubber sleeve (That was fun....), back into the body. Spent the next 2 hours trying to find a way via the roof lining to the front, Tried all sorts of ways in all sorts of directions, I used a stiff wire as a rat tail but reckon I need the rat to go in front and find the route! If you thread wire through the body where the the rubber sleeve is attached the wire seems to follow a groove/tube and ends up by the rear door airbag curtain, which I'd rather not disturb. I cannot seem to get a hold of it by pulling down the headlining either and even if I did there does not seem a straight run through as the wire rat tail is blocked a short way in. Had a look at the C pillar/sills route but not sure how to remove the C pillar cover, managed to ease it away by the door seal but the side by the has pulled away slightly but not released. Frustrating.
  5. Thanks guys. Now just waiting on the postman.........
  6. Still waiting for my OBD11 Pro to arrive but in the meantime have had a look around at what can be done. I noted that fog lights can be coded to act as cornering lights. I did have a Passat in 2008 that had this and found it useful on occasions so am wondering if I can get the same on my Octy. I had a look at the fogs and they seem to be separate reflectors within the housing which made me think it may be possible. My car is the Elegance version that has a lot of options already so perhaps it is possible to code them in.? Thanks for any information.
  7. There is a lot of very useful info here, check out the links and YouTube for videos. My camera has just arrived and will slowly fit it as time allows, Have a look here for some light reading: Good luck.
  8. I've been trying to get his to work since 2015, Google Contacts, Outlook 2010 Contacts, Samsung A40 Android. Amundsen not found one address. AllanWMCc, when you say ...in Windows 10, what program or database are you using? Importing to or exporting from?
  9. I did notice on their website some functions were listed as under development so maybe not fully functioning yet. I only have android so I hope I will not have a problem. Hope you get it sorted soon, must be frustrating to find it does not work.🤔
  10. Thank you Sasha. Just ordered the Next Gen Pro Pack obd11 from Voltas IT, Amazon wants £119.99 and is supplied by Voltas IT, buying direct from Voltas IT inc postage £89.72 so if you're not in a hurry direct is much cheaper and I would prefer to buy from them in case of support. And the camera from AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32964908529.html Now to see how long they take to arrive.
  11. Thank you Sasha, I will give it a good push, pray and close my eyes! I bought a set of trim tools some time ago so now I can use them instead of looking at them. I would prefer to remove the A cover and make sure the new cable does not cross the airbag. I will need to code this in, I was thinking of getting an obdeleven pro to use with my Android phone and check for any faults etc. Can you go back with this or back up the cars settings before making any changes and go back if things go wrong? Iway. Am I brave enough I wonder, nothing ventured nothing gained as they say......
  12. Before buying a rear view camera I thought I would find out what needs to be done in order to fit it. Seeing what route and how easy or hard the job would be. I started with the estate tail gate, removed the interior trim panels to see how to remove the release handle. First -and I hope last- problem, the handle is partially hidden by the interior of the tailgate inner skins and the wiper motor unit. the handle seems to be held in place with 2 metal clips on each long side and 2 metal clips on each short side, so 6 in total. 3 of which seem very difficult to get at, the 2 clips on the top side and the 1 on the right side (Looking from inside the load space). Logic indicates that the 6 clips need to be released before the handle can be removed, if so, how on earth do you get at all of them or do you need to remove the wiper assembly first? ( I hope not!) I intend to route the cable through the headlining down the A pillar to the fuse box, I have heaved, sworn at, cursed and pulled the A pillar cover but it refuses to release. Is there a knack to removing this? With the airbag within I need to be careful. My car is a 2015 1.4 TSI Elegance Estate.
  13. Thanks for the link. My Octavia is older reg' 1st March 2015, probable built end of 2014 or Jan 15. The Aliexpress web site has the following: Product description This is a high technology product for Volkswagen, Skoda and Audi system, Which is based on MQB system (new model) or PQ System (old model) from 2016. Some of 2015 model maybe ok but it needs some code jobs. It will read the command from CANBUS system of Car Computer and control the camera on/off and parking line moving. The camera works with our harness only. It can't work separately. It means that it will not work with the CANBUS command only. It supports OEM harness and OEM monitor ONLY, plug and play! If the monitor is NOT original monitor, it can't work well. It says to send photos of the parts so they can identify whether it will work or need coding. Just hope I can find the parts they want photographed!
  14. Thanks again, I will check it out and see who maybe in striking distance 😀
  15. Thanks for the reply Dave. That's a pity, I do not think spending another £225.00 on the VCSD just to view what is behind me is value for money, I have used the sensors for the last 5 years and not managed to crease the bumper yet!
  16. HI. Fitting a rear view camera has been on my list of wants for some time, I did consider PXing my 1.4 TSI Elegance Estate with ACC and park assist for something newer but I like the Elegance and spec as I have now so really cannot justify spending a large wad of cash just to upgrade a little. My car has done just over 22k since 2015. My Amundsen MIB1 has the Voice button bottom left, in the 5+ years I have owned it I do not remember ever having pushed that button! But it would seem I need that function in order to connect the rear view camera. Anyway, what puts me off doing that job are the references to VCDS and coding, I don't have VCDS and do not want to screw up my car guessing what I am doing. I was hoping there was a Plug & Play unit/option available?
