  1. I'm afraid I added to the Yeti count by a run up to Patterdale on Friday. I walked the Deepdale Horseshoe, taking in a few Wainwrights including St Sunday's Crag, Fairfield, Hart Crag etc. Some pics below:- https://picasaweb.google.com/101685397269840882963/ADeepdaleCircuit060215
  2. Should be fun if you take it over the Hardknott Pass :-) Thinking of going up this weekend myself for a hike into the mountains. Love it up there. The 4 extras I take this time of year are: Ice axe, crampons, flask of bovril and my shovel.
  3. Give me chance... I've been out all day ;-). Yes, it worked thanks. It's kind of counter intuitive as it works in the opposite way electric window buttons work:- Quick stab = fully open/close, whereas pressing for longer than half a second stops it as soon as you take your finger off. Thanks all
  4. Thanks chaps. Will give it a go.
  5. For the life of me I don't seem able to get the sun roof blind to open or close in one single movement. It seems to require me to keep my finger pressed on the button for the whole duration of it opening or closing. Admittedly, I'm still getting used to the toys as I've only had the car two weeks, so I'm probably missing a trick. I have consulted the manual to no avail. Thing is, I have seen it do it in a single motion before (without the need to keep finger on). Any clues please?
  6. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at the level of customisation you can do with Maxidot. - I've removed the annoying alarm beep when locking/unlocking. - configured single click opening of drivers and drivers side rear door as I always put my work bag on the rear seat - reduced the volume of the parking aid - enabled the mirrors to be adjusted independently
  7. The return/back button is the one on the further most right hand side on the steering wheel. Looks like two boxes with an arrow
  8. I've had my L&K for 2 weeks now and have bought:- Front skoda mudflaps from Superskoda - about £22 including shipping Skoda rubber mats to replace the supplied carpets - about £30 from a Skoda dealer on eBay Class 10 SD card (which is faster to browse your music), although not really required with Bluetooth connectivity Reversible boot mat I think they're a bit mean not to supply a warning triangle though.... Don't think I need anything else really
  9. Strange, I've never seen LEDs in mine and I have a sunroof. The only LEDs I've seen in mine are the 2 on the actual mirror itself.
  10. I can't say if the new Amundsen (which I have) is any better or worse than the previous Columbus as I've never played with the Columbus. However, I know I'd rather have a unit that does not contain a hard drive. A spinning hard drive will go wrong at some stage, it's just a matter of time, especially with the temperature extremes and vibrations found in a car. No moving parts in the new one has to be better for reliability, not to mention cost savings for Skoda.
  11. I've been playing around a bit more with the new Amundsen SatNav today. Ive found out that the buttons on the steering wheel have the same function as the buttons on the wiper stalk so that's cleared that up. As for MP3 vs CD. Yes, I agree that CD is of a higher quality to MP3, but the new Amundsen will play lossless files too, either via SD card or via Bluetooth. I've been playing lossless via Bluetooth from my iPhone and I have to say it sounds very good indeed. This is without the sound system. In my previous Audi I had Bose, and this comes very close. The only niggle with the SatNav is it doesn't appear to do postcodes. Did the previous Columbus?
  12. Certainly with Drive the Deal you do. You actually buy the car from a UK franchised dealer. No money changes hands between you and DtD. All transactions are done between you and the dealer. DtD just introduces you to the dealer. The dealer could be anywhere in the UK though. Nothing stopping you going back to the dealer armed with printed quotes from DtD etc and telling them they can have your business if they can come close. I did this and my local dealer came to within £400 of DtD so went with the local dealer and saved £3300 on an L&K which I picked up yesterday :-)
  13. Hi Urrell, From your image, I don't have buttons 1&2. I do however have buttons 3&4. Maybe they do the same? Will have to have a play when I've scraped the snow off the car.
  14. I picked up my new Yeti today. L&K 170 TDI manual in green. Very happy with it so far. For the past 8 years I've had an Audi A4 Avant TDI and my initial impressions of the Yeti is how quiet the engine is. Really surprised me, and it drives and sounds more like a petrol car. Enjoying the elevated seating position also. I'm 6'4" and I have lots of room. Also impressive is the new Amundsen SATNAV system although you no longer get a CD player. Great touch screen which is both fast and intuitive. One odd thing though: The manual mentions there should be rocker switch buttons at the end of the wiper stalk and also a button under the wiper stalk (I had these on the Audi) but not on the Yeti. I'm sure I'll find more toys to play with tomorrow...
  15. My Yeti L&K should be arriving next week too. Nearly had a heart attack seeing the news of the overturned cargo ship containing 1200 cars..... Only to realise it was actually leaving the UK rather than arriving. 1200 smashed Jags and Minis. Ouch!
  16. Thanks guys, will give this a go when I have the car in the next few weeks. Seems a bit penny pinching of them to have stopped in the first place. Cheers
  17. As I understand it, earlier Yeti's used to have carpets covering the plastic wheel arch covers in the boot. Is there anywhere that sells these for the later Yeti's without them? A quick search has brought up nothing. Thanks.
  18. I ordered my Yeti L&K in mid October and have been told to expect delivery mid January. So that's about 12 or 13 weeks. I was also considering ordering via Drive the deal, however my local dealer came to within £400 of their price so went with them.
  19. The Synology NAS is probably the best consumer NAS you can get. The software is intuitive and there's great product support from Synology, even on their old models. I work in a corporate IT environment and I think the setup time / price, which seemingly includes mail migration, is fair.
  20. The latest brochure I can see on the Skoda website is November 2014. On page 10 it lists "The latest generation of Amundsen satellite navigation system with DAB is standard on Laurin & Klement". The August 2014 version talks about 'Columbus', but I see no mention of it in November's. Where did you get a 2015 version as I can't find one?
  21. The 'Columbus' satnav is no longer available. It has been replaced with a newer unit now. The new one does not have a hard drive which can only be a good thing since they do fail especially in temperature extremes. The new one is featured in the latest Yeti brochure and has 2 x SD card slots. One of which is for the maps. Just waiting delivery on my L&K in Jan... :-)
  22. Good to hear you enjoy the car as I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago... Jungle Green, L&K, 170 manual. Extras being mudflaps, pedals and boot liner. I've currently got a 2007 A4 Avant Sline which I've had from new. It's been a great car and was intending to replace with the A4 Allroad, however a few reasons put me off - pedals horribly offset and less room for the driver. Hope I've made the right choice with the Yeti.
