  1. No moving parts in the new Amundsen II so less to go wrong. Also you get free downloadable map upgrades.
  2. Looks like all but one of the Yeti diesels had the EA189s apart from the latest 150PS according to Wikipedia:- https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Škoda_Yeti
  3. So which models of Skodas have the EA189 engine? I'm confused because I thought it affected just the new adblue ones, but this article says they're the older ones:- http://www.praguepost.com/the-big-story/49886-some-older-skoda-cars-may-have-rigged-vw-engines
  4. No idea on how to insert my photo, but here's a link to my Yeti at the start of the Walna Scar green road in the Lake District:- http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-eEsNhz_w61M/VQ6rQMk4B6I/AAAAAAAAJo4/e5He9R9b1UY/s2048-no/L1000960.JPG
  5. Jungle Green and in its natural habitat:- http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-eEsNhz_w61M/VQ6rQMk4B6I/AAAAAAAAJo4/e5He9R9b1UY/s2048-no/L1000960.JPG
  6. I bought front mudflaps for mine. Easy to fit and incredibly cheap at €13.99 from Superskoda. I understand that the rears are more difficult to fit necessitating the wheels to be removed.
  7. Yes, leave it on all the time. I had my last car (Audi A4) for 8 years and never had an aircon service. It worked perfectly all the time. I intend to do the same with the Yeti
  8. Says "Amundsen" on its rear end in one of the pics.
  9. I get this clunk also on cold mornings. Not had it since the weather has warmed up. Goes away after a mile or so. Great cars apart from the odd noises and rattles....
  10. I think a petrol engine is better suited to your sub 10k/year mileage
  11. Thanks for that. Looks like they've issued Version 0138 now where mine is on 0135. From the post there, it looks like the dealer did it via the SD card and perfectly doable by us end users. Hopefully Skoda will make it publicly available on their update portal. I don't really want the faff of taking it in.
  12. Does anyone know if an update has been released yet?
  13. Using the search and finding this has just saved me a trip to the dealers, so thanks. My drivers window has had this issue for a week or so now for some unknown reason and now it's fixed. I found that I had to also open it fully, with finger still on it, until it kind it clicked. Magic.
  14. 45mpg here in 2 month old 170 TDI. I'm filling up more often than in my old Audi A4 Avant 140 TDI. It is nicer, and more fun, to drive though....
  15. I have software version 0135 and don't. I guess it will be made available via the update portal when ready:- http://updateportal.skoda-auto.com
  16. I have just read this on another forum, so maybe a firmware update soon:- "Faulty SW of the MIB unit (SF) on vehicles manufactured since 45th CW 2014" "Introducing a new SW for MIB control unit - assumed date 10th CW 2015"
  17. Mine is the same as yours without Maxidot menu - L&K with the new Amundsen NAV
  18. There are many different routing options:- Economical, Fastest, Shortest and Dynamic. Dynamic constantly updates the routing based on TMC (traffic information). I must say though, I've not really used it in anger yet so I can't really say how well it stacks up against the tomtom. It does seem quite easy to use, but after 8 years of tomtom ownership it will enevitably take a while for me to get to grips with.
  19. Here are 3 photos of the new Amundsen Navigation. Pics of the radio, navigation and media screen (I'm currently listening to an audiobook from the SD card). Incidentally, despite everything being stored on SD card, there is no lag in navigation and everything works fast and slick. Hopefully the link works:- https://www.icloud.com/photostream/#A15oqs3qWYuPt
  20. I thought it would be cheap, but on their website it's £28,000 for the 170 bhp diesel. Gulp!
  21. I went from an 8 year old Audi A4 Avant 140 TDI to a 170 Yeti with no hike in insurance, so I can't see insurance being the deciding factor. Also, the 170 is better on tax and economy also - at least on paper.
  22. I'm only giving the experience I have of the DAB and FM radio in my Yeti. On the move, the DAB does suffer occasional break up. No doubt this is due to intermittent poor signal quality received rather than the actual unit itself. I've no issue with DAB in the home as we have a DAB Pure radio in the kitchen and that's great, but out on the road my experience has been different - in the areas I drive at least.
  23. The DAB radio reception is no better than FM reception. You just get a little additional channel information displayed. It's nice you have the choice of both FM and DAB as DAB reception / signal quality can be variable on the move.
  24. I have a new L&K. It has no Columbus nor has a CD player. I think it's called the Amundsen Plus NAV or something. Basically, it has 2 SD slots. One has the NAV maps and the other you can use for music etc. You can use the touch screen to flip through the album artwork like you do on the iPhone. However, it's not really required as you can simply use Bluetooth from your phone for music/audiobooks etc. The unit works well and sounds good too. I like the way all the radio stations have their logos displayed on screen. The satnav is fast and easy to use also. No hard drive nor moving parts should be good for reliability too.
