  1. I took the plunge and ordered the Ds-820. So far so good. Install was a doddle and took about 20 minutes, mostly routing the GPS antenna. I've got it up by the interior mirror. and the signal is pretty good. Has anyone managed to get it working with an iPhone/ipod for music on the USB link cable? I've tried but it keeps saying no iPod connected. I've got a 32gb micro SD card in too.
  2. Only 31000, but I've read about injectors failing much earlier. C'est la vive.
  3. A week on and all is well. Rear boots changed on Tuesday and even when still new, there is a noticeable improvement in ride, handling and interior noise. I'm not sure if I'm imagining it or not, but after fitting the red coil packs, it does seem to warm up a lot quicker, even on cold, wet mornings like today. Next job is to replace the Bolero with a Pioneer AVH-X8700BT to support Carplay.
  4. I've been following this for a bit and openly admit that I might being a bit slow. According to the site, the Pumpkin head supports iPhone 6. Has anyone used with an iPhone. Particularly keen on Mirror Link over a lightning USB cable. Thanks
  5. Just an update, all now fixed and back on the road. The inlet valves had some coking but nothing so bad that a basic clean hasn't resolved. Watched the test drive on my dash cam, went up to 65 on dual carriageway. Nothing untoward on my drives yet. Fitting a new set of red coil packs tomorrow (courtesy of AwesomeGTI). Will clean up the old OEM ones on and keep them in the boot, 'just in case'. Had to postpone the tyres until Tuesday but no biggie. Going to give it a couple of weeks to settle down, then give it an italian tuneup.
  6. Thanks brad. Just had a call. As expected injector 3 stuck open. Parts on order and should be done sometime Wednesday. Total cost with parts, labour and the dreaded VAT, £450. Advisory on both rear tyres due to perishing on the sidewall, both OEM so not too worried. Blackcircles booked for Thursday PM, 2x Michelin Pilot Sport 3 for £150 fitted etc. First major thing to go wrong in 6 1/2 years so can't complain too much.
  7. Hi Going to work this morning the engine management light came on, there was a loss of power and vibration followed by the EPC light coming on, Managed to limp to work and RAC called. DIagnostic showed that cylinder 3 had shutdown. The coilpack was replaced. Now it wouldn't start unless continually cranked and then very lumpy. Spark plug was checked again and found to be wet with fuel. RAC man suspected the injector has failed in the open position. Car towed to Ridgeway Skoda where it now languishes until Monday morning, Assuming it is the injector, any ideas on how much in parts/labour to replace? Also, would it have ruined the Cat? Nearly six and a half years, this is the first breakdown. Thanks
  8. Hi I'm looking at replacing my Bolero with an Apple CarPlay head unit, like the AVH-X8700BT. Is this a simple job of remove Bolero, connect new cables and fit head unit and still retain MFSW and MaxiDot functionality? I have VCDS if needed. Has anyone done if on a FL model or is it limited to MK3 only? Thanks
  9. You sir, are a scholar. The pedals make sense seeing as there are 3. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. I can't immediately feel where they have fallen from but will have a proper look when I get the seats our in the coming weeks. Go enjoy your virtual beer. Thank you.
  10. Stone caught between brake disc and (ironically) the stone guard? Had that a few times thanks to gravel drive and it sounds like a bag of bolts.
  11. Hi ya'll I'm hoping a Sherlock can help me identify these 3 little piece of rubber trim that have appeared in the drivers footwell. I'll looked on-line and can't find any images and they are too small for a part number. At first I thought they were from the little drawer under the day but cannot find a hole they would fit in. Any ideas or are they destined to live out their lives in a pot in the garage? No prize other than kudos and a virtual beer. Pound coin for scale. Thanks
  12. Bit of an odd one this so seeing if anyone else has encountered it. Last week I needed to dial 999 from the car (scroats throwing things from motorway bridge ). iPhone 4s handset connected to retrofit MDI. Tried to dial from the MFSW using the 'dial number' option. Call failed and bluetooth disconnects. Reconnect, try again with 112, call fails and bluetooth disconnects. Disconnects from MDI, try again and still fails/disconnects. Dial from handset and select output via BT, all works. Forget and re-pair, nothing changes. Check phone logs and only call from handset show. All other calls, including dialling 121 for Voicemail work so doubt it is handset and not network. Now I don't expect everyone to dash out and try calling 999 (really, don't!) and it's going to be a bugger to test. Any ideas?
  13. After a false start earlier this year when trading in my MKII just didn't feel quite right, I think I need to have a good look at the L&K. If nothing else, it has the 1.8TSi but yes, the brown interior does pose a question mark. Need to see in flesh.
  14. I wouldn't touch it with someone else's barge pole.
  15. Yes, just pops up as a separate item on the configuration tool. Dread to think when it'll be delivered though.
  16. All things being equal, off to dealers next week to place an order to replace the 1.8 elegance MKII Elegance hatch 1.4 manual Bi-Xenon headlights with AFS Cornering front fog lights with black surrounds Taillight assemblies with diodes (LED) Heated front seats Space saver spare wheel AMI Still undecided about colour. Either Metal Grey or Brilliant Silver
  17. Cheers all (including penguins). I've been using the anti-mist Autoglym glass polish with out much noticeable effect. Now have 2 of these bad boys in to trial. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002OC2REY/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 May well pop into Ridgeway today and see about getting some figures before deciding to move up to a MK3.
  18. Well, the ashtray isn't full yet. The MK2 fan does seem to be all huff but very little puff, even on full demist
  19. My MK2 Octavia can be rather bad at misting up on the front and rear screens, especially when the weather changes from mild/wet to cold/dry. The fan does clear it eventually but not as quick as I'd like. Is the MK3 better/same/worse at misting up, and the fan any better at clearing it? Looking at Elegance 1.4 so no heated screen option. Thanks
  20. It's all done now and pretty impressed with it. Much tidier for just charging never mind better playback than via BT. Wish I'd ordered it as factory-fit now. C'est la vie.
  21. Having big hands didn't help I suspect, they're covered in little cuts and abrasions. Will fit a longer lead from the glovebox to the the driver side tomorrow (postman reliant) to go with by Brodit.
  22. Yes. I guess that slims down the available space.
  23. Fixed but had to cut the multi block on the new fly lead so it would fit into a void on the drivers side. Just need to route a long iPhone lead when it arrives.
