If you work on the 'formal' solution, you can put the base speaker in either the front of the dash in the middle (where the Canton system has its base) or you can put in the space where the spare wheel lives (a SEAT/Audi option). Speak with @SashaGrace or look towards the end of the Sasha's VRS thread in the Octavia 3 section for more info.
The centre dash speaker in Canton is not for bass and it's also a rather small speaker. Assuming you could even find something to fit that location, it would be a terrible place to put a bass speaker.
The canton sub is in its own enclosure and located in the boot to the side, which works very well.

They look like the Xenon headlamps to me. Does the car have a levelling adjuster dial near the headlight switch or does it have a blanking plate? Xenons are self levelling so has a blanking plate in place of the halogens levelling adjuster dial.

What was it about the outgoing VRS that made you decide it was "just not for us"?

Looks quite smart!

Had my VRS estate a week now and loving it, still getting used to the infotainment etc and a manual gearbox again. I've not had any issues with the software or assistance systems, fingers crossed that continues as I've not done a lot of miles yet. I came from a 2019 Audi A4 Black Edition and I was expecting a drop in quality in the cabin, but I have been pleasantly surprised at how good it is.
How are you finding road and wind noise between the two? I've been in B9 A4s and they seem a lot more hushed inside than my MK3, even the 2.0 TDI was pretty quiet. Not driven a MK4 yet to compare.

Mine is going into the dealership next week for an oil service. I was quoted about £130. I can't imagine an independent will charge much less given it takes nearly 6 litres of oil, plus labour, overheads and vat etc.

Not sure how wipeable alcantara is to be honest, as I think a fair bit of the “leather” seats config is alcantara, but you know what you need, so ignore me if you’ve already factored that in. 👍🏼
It's less of an issue because it's virtually all leather (or fake leather) everywhere (seat backs, rear centre seat base/armrest etc) apart from the centre bit which you sit on. The kids are still young enough to be in car seats so the non easy wipe bits are covered whilst the bits they touch or spill on wipe down like new in seconds.

LOL. I could only wish...

Love it! Looks great. Look forward to future updates on this one

Cloth only seats is a big issue for me. I have 2 young kids and being able to wipe down both the back seats plus their feet marks on the back of the front seats from my MK3 leather is great. The idea of buying a 30k car and having to put covers everywhere seems crazy and not one I'd entertain.
Hopefully a leather option or half leather at least is coming soon, or the MK4 vrs is off the cards for my next car in the next 3-6 months.

Rallye Green or Dragon Green. Something similar to BMW's Sunset Orange would look fantastic.

Looks fantastic! Best colour and DG seems to be quite rare on facelifts so far. Think you've made a great choice there and the other one clearly wasn't meant to be so you could get this instead.

Posted in the Octavia thread but congrats, especially on the colour which is fantastic! Let the retrofits begin...!

Wow you finally did it!!! Congrats on the new car and thanks for all the inspiration and advice for our Octavias. I still fancy a Superb Sportline next so I will be following the next thread with similar interest

The Superb has gone.
We've stuck a deposit down on a BMW 330i M Sport Plus. Hopefully getting delivered this week. While it's down on power, it's an ex demonstrator so it's got all the kit, including all of the M Sport upgrades (wheels, brakes, lsd), along with electronic tailgate, laser lights, tri-zone climate control, heated seats + steering wheel, virtual cockpit, Harmon Kardon upgrade, reverse assist, adaptive suspension, rear charge points, heads up display, unlock and start the car with a digital key on your phone phone, leather interior, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay. There's probably more I've forgot.
I'll miss the Superb, but we'll move on.
Lovely cars the new 3 series. 330i seems to be an excellent balance of economy and performance too. Be a cracking car that and hopefully one you have better luck with.

Welcome! VRS looks great in Race Blue. Agree it doesn't seem that common, most dealer stock ones seem to be flat grey, dark grey, white or black.
-
It works very well on my 63 plate. You should have the symbol lit orange on the cluster if it's turned on but not active. If I recall there are two settings relating to lane assist and both need to be on to get the full assistance/correction.

I am currently debating whether to spec Canton in the new car, all the ones I've looked at so far in dealers just have the standard system and while it does sound decent its still nowhere as good as my Canton in my current Mk3 as to be expected.
Just need to justify if its worth paying the extra £590 for!
If it's nowhere near as good as your MK3 then that sounds like perfect justification. Couldn't imagine spending 2-4 times what my current VRS is worth and ending up with a worse sound system.

If stuff is working then it seems like a bad idea to change the coding to what you think it should be. Isn't some of the stuff set by adaptations rather than long coding, so whilst something might not be set there, there may be an adaptation on that module where it is set instead.

It's a no from me. As above the VRS colours no longer seem to be green and red but just red so I'm not sure it works.

Dealer prices include dealer perks which you don't get if buying your car at the end of a lease or buying privately. They aren't really comparable.
Approved used warranty, roadside assistance, A comeback if there is a fundamental fault with the car. Easy finance etc.

My hatch needs a bit more of a nudge to lift the boot rather than the struts doing it by themselves. Not sure if the cold weather makes it worse?

Airbox Screws
in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Posted
Afternoon all, hope you are having a good Easter.
Does anyone know the correct part number for the air filter box screws? EA888 2.0 TSI in case the other air filter boxes are different.
Changed my air filter earlier and a couple of the screw heads are a bit rusty. I've found WHT002087 which looks to be the right screw but the wrong head - standard ones are a torx not posi head. Worst case could use these but would prefer the correct torx head ones. Any help appreciated. Cheers
