  1. It's in Car>Setup>Mirrors & Wipers if I remember correctly. There should now be a new tick box menu item allowing you to choose whether to have it enabled or not. And the Mirror adjust knob has to be in the Passenger mirror position. I'm not convinced it made a lot of difference as it doesn't lower much, plus it doesn't return to it's original position - you have to use the door switch for that, so..... ho hum.
  2. Have you enabled the function in the Car settings in the infotainment? Access Control 2-Menuesteuerung Spiegelabsenkung. Value=Active ...is the coding for placing a menu item with tick box in the Mirrors and Wipers section.
  3. They also cover your freshly washed & waxed Brilliant Silver bonnet with a lovely covering of Brilliant Screen Wash Blue globules.
  4. Yeah sure. Next you'll be telling me there's no carburettors, distributors, dynamos, kingpins etc. Pull the other one!
  5. I wouldn't expect there's a software-based way of doing it. Unless there are new fangled ways of wiring indicators, the noise you hear would just be contacts opening and closing in a relay. Try mounting the relay in an old Heinz Baked Bean can.
  6. You're welcome. I'll just stick with whatever will play, usually .mp3. It's all music, innit? If I have something that won't play but I really want it, I'll convert it.
  7. Silly question maybe but have you switched on Pro? Press on the 3 parallel lines top left of the home screen, Press Settings and then there's a "switch" to turn on Pro. If I remember correctly, this is when you'll be asked to enter your activation code.
  8. According to my Amundsen manual, .flac files are supported although I've always favoured .mp3. I've loaded a test .flac onto a USB stick and will report back - if you've not already tried it.
  9. ^ What TDIum said. Top left of the screen there are Tabs, if you touch the Folder tab you should see your folder listed.
  10. I left mine with the dealers at 9am and went home (about a 30 minute bus ride). They called at 1pm to say it was ready. I wouldn't expect all dealers to be the same though - differing workloads etc. but I thought 4 hours wasn't at all bad for a largish job given that it's annual service took the same amount of time.
  11. I've done the same on mine. A load of albums onto the card plus a folder with individual tracks which I named "Misc" and it shows as such in the list on the Amundsen. Sorry, that was of absolutely no help whatsoever, was it?
  12. +1. Mine had only done12k miles when it developed an annoying pulsating from the front n/s. Dealers tesst drove it with me and took it in under warranty. Findings? Duff n/s bearing.
  13. Had to go out and check mine as I rarely use the satnav. It's as it says in the manual, in the Navigation Settings under Manage Memory and after pressing Delete User Data, I get 5 options: Last Destinations Destination Memory Entered Towns Home Address Flag Destinations I did do the latest maps update but i don't know if that would also have put more options in the settings.
  14. Looks like a cheaper and simpler alternative for anyone wanting the black grill surround too.
  15. It's not peculiar to the Vrs and/or the 2litre. My 1.6TDI Elegance does the same, usually starts on the 2nd crank but occasionally it might take 6 or 8. Doesn't bother me much but as it's having a service on Monday I'll mention it.
  16. The app has a "Garage" where different cars can be stored by inputting their VINs (or deleted) so I assume that it's transferrable.
  17. In the configurator, silver roof rail are a £155 option, not £4k+ !
  18. So, for roughly £6k less than the cost of adding ACC and electric seats - you could have another car? Have I missed something here? :S
  19. "Be there between 8 am and 1200." they said on the phone/email & text. Fella arrived at 8.04am and was done and dusted by 9.05am. Lovely job, OEM screen and everything tested and working as it should. Replacing a screen has come a long way since the last time I saw it done though. No cracking or breaking of the old one - all out in one unbroken piece.
  20. Found a 4 inch crack in my windscreen on 10th March so phoned the insurance Glass Line who said they didn't have a screen in stock but would phone me when they had one. Yesterday I got a call to say they now had the glass and gave me an appointment - 31st March. Is a 3 week wait the norm for an 03 screen? They're hardly an uncommon car after all. Luckily, the crack is on the nearside and doesn't interfere with vision.
  21. Yeah. It also had bumpers. I mean solid great chunks of thick metal girder front and back. Put a turret on top and it could have doubled as a tank, it certainly drove like one! When I see what Beetles are changing hands for these days it makes me want to cry. There was less wrong with it than the one Mike Brewer bought on Wheeler Dealers for £1600. It was still running too - but being young, the 1600E was seen as much cooler.
  22. First car was a 1964 Austin A40 Farina. Cost: £15. Insurance: £81 TPO. The front nearside wing was quarter wing, quarter rust and half metal tin Michelin tyre pressure wall chart! Then (after the floor fell out of the A40) a '65 VW Beetle - free from Dad + £40 for new brake pipes. Great car, went all over the highlands in '75 and down to that London and on to Cornwall in '75. That was scrapped (AAARGH!) because the back wing was dented by a drunk on the M8 and I had the chance of a 1970 Cortina 1600E. Then nothing for years as I had a company van and no spare cash. 1978 Fiat 128. Nuff said. Eventually scrapped after engine no.3 threw a con rod. Also, the heater motor went backwards and blew air out the vent in the bonnet instead of into the car! Winter was hellish... 1987 Lada Riva. (Free from Brother-in-Law) Nothing - Nothing could be done to get the emissions below 3 times the MOT limit! Eventually scrapped. 1981 Austin Metro. Terminal rot. Scrapped. 1987 Peugeot 205 1L. Wouldn't pull you out of bed so, eventually traded in for £100) 1997 Daewoo Lanos. (Fitted more rear springs than tyres!) 2005 Fiesta 1.25. Nothing much went wrong with that one at all. 2014 Octavia Elegance 1.6TD More lemons in there than Mr Lemon's Lemon Warehouse..
  23. Thanks for that, although if I'd known that it would come up as "Best Answer" instead of "Solved" I wouldn't have pressed the button. Makes it look as if I'm blowing my own trumpet!
