Wheel Bearing (Puller) Tool Recommendation
I find it easier to take the hub off. I then drift the old bearing out using a square lump hammer as a drift, leaving the original ABS sensor in place. Dremel inside and seats to clean up and install using a vice to hold on the bench. I put the new bearing in the freezer for 24hrs, lube bearing and casing up and install with similar tool. ABS sensor doesn't require changing then. I used to install them the old fashioned way of bearing in the freezer and hub in the oven, you can push them in by hand, but have to renew the ABS sensor.

Bye Bye Roomster
Well our trusted 2007 Roomster 1.9TDI PD, BSW Engine has bit the dust! 195,000 miles, original clutch, still good engine and gearbox. Bought in 2015 with 90,000 on the clock, had been used for towing a caravan. Self serviced from our purchase, always used higher spec oil vag 507. Usual running repairs, discs, pads, springs, front bearings, starters, batteries, ball joints, drop links, inner tie rods, shock absorbers and track rod ends. Failed MOT on dreaded tin worm! Three holes on outer sills. Could repair it with new sills, but still have the other 2009 Roomster. So will use her for spares. Best car I have ever owned for reliability, never broken down. Wish her indoors was as reliable!!

very stiff shifting
I've just had similar problems with our Roomster. It turned out to be the plastic gear selectors in picture above. Couldn't tell with them in place, had to take them off and waggle them by hand. One had cracks and excessive movement. It's surprising how slight movement can cause loss of gear change.

How to remove anti-roll bar stabiliser bushing?
I have Roomster (Same as Fabia) and tried to replace ours. The bolts remove from the welded nuts and metal cover can be removed by levering with a screwdriver, bush can then be removed from anti-roll bar. Problem was could fit new bushes to bar but could not push clamp on. So just greased up and put old ones back on. Elsawin procedure is to strip the sub frame off and remove anti roll bar. Talked to someone since who replaced his by using longer bolts to pull the bracket over the bushes. I haven't tried it yet. Hope information helps.

Sump plug stripped
Best sump plug washer to use is a doughty seal (used on high pressure hydraulic pipes). I changed both ours to these seals on first oil change, never been changed since, covered 50k and 100k since first oil change. Gorilla mechanic had been at one of the sump plugs, with slight swarf from sump thread's. I only torque them to 25nm to avoid any stress on threads, never had a problem since.

Throttle pedal
They only do it intermittently, they have never thrown anything up on the diagnostics. Just gently lift the pedal with my foot and they return to idle.

Throttle pedal
Both our cars do the same and have done for several years. Just gently hook your foot under the pedal and lift it. It's usually does it intermittently.

BSW reliable ?
We run two Roomsters with BSW engines, ones on 131000 miles (2009), and one on 191000 miles (2007). Always used vag 507 oil and changed every 10000 miles or two years. Still going strong. We don't hammer them, just cruise at 60 mph.

Battery light flickering.
Check the charge output directly off the alternator to confirm alternator or wiring problem.

Battery light
Just done my regulator on a Skoda Roomster 1.9tdi pd. Charging light came on and stayed on. 11.6 volts output when tested, brushes were 7.5mm, serviceable to 5mm. Bosch alternator, regulator and brushes combined £26 on eBay. Cheaper than £200-300 for a Bosch alternator. If charge light stays on, as suggested by Breezy Pete check brushes on regulator before righting alternator off.

Oil leak
I replaced washer with a dowty seal, never replace it. Now on its ninth oil change. Always use a torque wrench on sump plug. Too easy to strip threads! Other Roomster we have has had the gorilla mechanic on it! Sump threads are slightly stripped, so only tighten it to 25n/m.

One of mine is the same, suspect damp in the electronics in winter. Could take the cover of the driver door panel and warm the circuit boards with a hair dryer to confirm.- Fabia ABS issue
I've had intermittent ABS faults before when changing bearings and sensor, it was due to bad connection on sensor plug to loom. Check connection and clean with contact spray. Could be the reason for intermittent working.- CV joint and new rubber boot or just the rubber boot
Or purchase a stretch boot and use a cone without taking the joint off.- 2006 octavia 4x4. Replace tensioning pulley
Alternator belt tensioner.- Oil Sump / Pan Hole From Turbo Pipe
It's not the engine mounts, all ok. Turbo pipe was resting against sump and lettering on plastic pipe rubbing against sump, with running vibration. Probably slightly misaligned from new. Cable tied pipe back a couple of millimetres to give it clearance.- Oil Sump / Pan Hole From Turbo Pipe
Anyone come across this before? Hole in side of sump from Turbo Pipe rubbing. According to service history, was repaired at 76k now 100k. Going to try same repair with JB Weld New Sump if not successful. 2009, 1.9tdi pd engine.- Car completely dying (zero power)... Full details below - any ideas please?
After battery clamps, check earth to body work connections.- Road noise / droning sound / wheelbearing / ABS failure
Check the abs connector. I have had the same problem in the past and when the connector was parted it threw up the fault. Check everything is clean and tight on it.- Gear shifting issues
If it is high mileage, 120 - 150K, gearbox oil change can reduce stiffness / notchyness, if none of the other suggestions work.- ABS light coming on...
I have had the same fault code on the front of the other Roomster we have. Lived with it for several months until it cleared itself. Came up after changing bearing, renewed sensor twice. Fault was being caused by the connector, I think it was bad pin connections, worth a check and clean.- FRONT WHEEL BEARING TOOL
It is possible to drift the old bearing out of the hub, clean the seat up. Then heat it in the oven for a couple of hours, leave the bearing in the freezer overnight. Lightly oil the bearing and it pushes in by hand. Seat with a light tap with wood. Holding ring then has to be pushed in with a screwdriver. Downside is you have to remove the ABS sensor, which usually means a new one. I did our last one with this procedure, still going strong after 50,000 miles until I took the car off the road.- Rear Wiper Wiring Diagram
Thanks Wino. I will trace and test when we get a dry day. - Electric windows
