  1. My experience is exactly yours. I've had a tuning box and 2 remaps. No change to mpg at all, but a much better drive!
  2. Yes - spacers are fine. My set-up is 18 x 7 1/2 et 51 with 225/40/18 tyres. 15mm spacers up front and 20mm spacers at the back.
  3. That doesn't show that they will fit, it shows you how much closer to the suspension and how much further out they will poke. Looking at those figures it's a definite no. To put in in perspective I run 7 1/2 x 18 et 51 with 15mm spacers on the front and 20mm spacers on the rear. This is just about the maximum you can go before you start to foul bodywork.
  4. Congratulations on your purchase! I'm afraid it's very unlikely that those wheels will fit.
  5. Hi John, This should answer your question and firm up what others have suggested. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Mohawk/M112.htm
  6. The decibel readings on the tyres mean almost nothing. They are registered externally. I changed from 16's to 18's. The tyres I fitted were rated 67db and were VERY noisy. This is why I went down the route of adding sound insulation to try to help. From reading a lot on here the Superb doesn't like the 18's too much. I noticed a drop in MPG as well as the increased noise level. On the plus side it looks a lot better IMO. The insulation I bought was very cheap, about £20 for a large roll, and did help a bit.
  7. I took my 2014 Superb 1.6tdi Greenline for it's first MOT yesterday and was offered the 'fix'. I declined it as I like my car just the way it is. My car passed with 1 advisory...'emissions too clean to test'! Oh the irony!
  8. I found mine quite noisy when I bought it. I bought some fairly thick insulation and stuck it to the underside of my carpet mats and the boot mat. This got the noise down by a couple of decibels and was cheap to do. It's also worth having your four wheel alignment checked as that could have an effect on how the tyres wear and create noise. Thirdly, check your tyres. Mis-matched brands, un-even wear or nasty budget tyres can cause extra noise. Dont give up! They're good cars.
  9. Hi. You can't go to far wrong sticking to 7.5" wide with an offset between 45 and 50et. A lower offset figure would mean the wheel may stick out too far.
  10. Did you get it remapped? If not, definitely do it!
  11. A nice result. I gained exactly the same figures from a Superchips re-map. Like you say it completely transforms the car! Interestingly the 1.6tdi in standard guise runs at 122bhp as opposed to 105bhp although mine never felt very sprightly at all.
  12. Hi. They would fit just fine. The difference in ET would mean they protrude 5mm further out that your wheels now.
  13. Drive more gently, more mpg! Besides I remember having a big tank on a 1995 5-series, it would top £100 to fill up!!
  14. Mk3 Alloys fitted, they were too good to refuse!
  15. So I finally got around to fitting my newly acquired Mk3 alloys to my 2014 Greenline estate. I think the colour combo works beautifully, I am very pleased!
  16. Nice! You could probably push them out a bit wider with spacers. I'm running 20mm spacers on the rear of my Greenline with 7 1/2 x 18" et 46, 225/40/18
  17. Hi, look what I've just found on Shpock - the boot sale app, I thought you might like it: https://en.shpock.com/i/WO0V4_qo5Fm7BJ_6/?lft=
  18. They do look like a cheap VW 'style' replica wheel to be honest
  19. Yes, same fitment in terms of the hub, the ET offset might be slightly different but it won't make too much difference.
