  1. There are two series of 3 x hooks along each side of the boot. Another 3 along the bottom. The two long nets have 6 fixing hooks which link into these 6 hooks. That gives you a vertical net along each side of the boot. The larger net is the floor mat. It has 6 hooks which use the lower hooks/eyes so the net covers the floor of the boot. See page 108 of your owners manual for diagrams.
  2. Sorry wasnt at home when the goods arrived; have thrown away packaging so cannot check
  3. MIne was the previous edition so can't comment on the new model out this year. Summary of my 3 years would be: Great petrol engine and autobox; smooth as baby skin. Great economy with enough oomph for me. Average 39mpg. Terrible ride, hard as nails. Felt small inside; all black interior and typically functional rather than prestige. Dealer didn't want to deal for a replacement and as you suggest couldn't come up with a deal anywhere near the website examples. I understand the current version has addressed some of those points. Skoda dealer much better, better PEX and the Superb III is an E class equivalent with a better ride, better spec and for a lot less money!! No contest even for the new model C Class.
  4. Thanks. The wheels are the pegasus anthracite that come std with the L&K. I wasworried they would be a bit too 'boy racer' for an old geezer like me. So I must admit I was surprised just how good they do look. I think they give the car much more presence than silver. Close up they have a burnished metal effect. Still less than 500 miles so the dirt is the penalty of living in the country. Loving the car. Due to go on long journey (300 miles each way) in week or two and looking forward to comparing how it performs compared to the merc c class that I gave up and the S type jag that SWMBO runs. One thing for sure it wont need filling up so often!!
  5. Being reminded that the virtual pedal for the boot will respond to anything not just a human foot. Frightened me out of my wits when it suddendly opened because the hose had gone under the car as I washed the car !! I was bending down to clean the rear bumper and nearly fell/jumped backwards into the puddle behind me. Life with the Skoda Superb is such an adventure
  6. I got my mudflaps and one or two other little bits on Thursday after ordering late on Sunday. All the way from Czech in less time than from the UK and at about third of the price inc delivery charge (£/euro is very good at the moment) All oem kit where expected.
  7. A few pictures of my Rosso Brunello (otherwise known as Rooney Red in our family). Taken in first decent light for weeks. Gives an idea of how the dirt shows and in the front on picture you can see a decent representation of the brown leather.
  8. Markab. See this thread for simple upgrade to LED indicators. Makes a great job. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/379073-put-in-my-rear-led-bulbseasyhappy/ Pete
  9. Being able to sit in the car and watch BBC News after arriving 30 minutes too early for my appointment at the GP. I never thought I would use it but am impressed with the quality of feed/picture. I guess that now makes me a nurd
  10. Rebelred. I just ordered these. I think they are the ones that sooty meant. http://www.phoenixautobulbs.co.uk/pr/581-led-canbus-py21w/
  11. 3 more piccies of the brown interior here. Shows the brown quite well but over emphasises the grey/black as I had to colour tint to get a decent match on the brown. Last post here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/377448-rosso-brunello-lk-est-is-mine/
  12. I have found that the brown/black is nowhere near as noticeable in everyday driving. Pictures emphasise it and showroom lighting also highlights the contrast. On more than one occassion I thought the top dash is not black but a brown shade of black if that makes sense. Whether that is colour splash from the brown interior or the bronzy tint of the heated windscreen I am not sure but you simply don't notice the black/brown contrast anywhere near as much as when looking at it in a showroom. Point is that it doesnt look anywhere near as contrasting as you would think from photos. The beige, on the other hand does contrast and I think makes some of the harder plastic bits look cheaper. Another tip. If you expect heavy use then (slightly) distressed brown leather will always look better than distressed beige. If you have a rear end like mine that is an important consideration
  13. I have brown leather in my L&K but I have rosso brunello exterior so cannot help with the exterior match. Would like to just put a ticket up for the brown leather though. I didnt choose it but the more I use the car the better the colour seems to me. In retrospect I think the beige interior clashes far more with the black elements. Plus the brown won't be so difficult to keep looking good. All my colleages who have seen it say they like it; not commonplace interior and doesnt look 'old hat' in the way they anticipated it would. hth
  14. Wind, what wind Didn't notice it at all. We have had some pretty strong gusts today. Earlier on I was driving quietly along but could see the trees etc bending and then a break in the hedge. Braced hands on wheel expecting some impact--just carried on serenely. Doing about 60mph on good quality A road. Least affected car I have driven for a while.
  15. Yes agreed. But BSD/LA etc is std on L&K with £100 option for smart assist. Light assist is not shown in the brochures as available on the L&K. I have BSD/LA etc but no LED and no smart (or dynamic as Columbus refers to it). Thats the conundrum for those with L&K who thought they had ordered smart assist as the £100 option. I am not fussed about mine as my original order was for an SEL without either. I am just puzzled as to how an L&K turns up with an option that doesnt appear in the brochure and doesn't make any sense cost wise (£250 v £100). Initially I wanted to highlight to others that you need to check carefully what you/the dealer have ordered and what turns up. But I dont like unsolved mysteries which is why I started the topic. I am very clear in my mind now that smart/dynamic assist uses the camera to read the road ahead and adjusts the main beam by blanking sections thus leaving more of the road ahead lit by main beam. So, opposing traffic the left hand edge is open, the right edge is blanked out. Folllowing traffic, the left hand edge is blanked thus not illuminating the car in front whilst the right hand edge can still be on full beam. Or somehting along those lines. That is all achieved, allegedly, without blinding other drivers. AFS with light assist on the other hand has the variable patterns (which is what you really need to improve over standard lighting) but simply dips the main beam when required (i.e vehicle in front or opposing traffic).
  16. Brocky. Do you have the extra LED whisker lights in the front headlamp. When you go into car set up on columbus you will see options for 'light assist' or 'dynamic light' assist. I dont have either the LED or the 'dynamic light' options. That is what started my confusion. I also expected to have smart assist but didnt get it. I got light assist. However, I now think that the only difference is that dynamic assist keeps the full beam on but masks certain areas as it identifies other vehicles. If you watch the video linked by Didorx at #6 you can see that when following a vehicle the main beam stays on but is masked to only illuminate the outside (offside) of the road. That doesn't happen with light assist, that system simply switches back to low beam. However, all the AFS functions I noted in my O.P. should be there. One way to see it is to switch off your lights. Start the car and the switch to auto. Watch the light pattern in front of the car and you should see the light patterns change a bit as the AFS sets to the relevant pattern. There are some conditions where it is overridden. Rain/fog and eco mode are I think the releavnt ones. However, see pages 71 et seq in the owners manual for details. hth Pete
  17. Thanks for the replies. I found this on the VW site linked by Langers2k. This is the best explanation I have read and it makes perfect sense to me now. "The system with variable road illumination allows the main beam to be left on continuously without dazzling oncoming traffic. This is possible thanks to a masking function which can partially dip the main-beam headlights. The information on other road users and the street lighting is captured by a camera on the interior mirror and relayed to the Dynamic Light Assist system. This significantly improves illumination of the entire carriageway." So with AFS and light assist we get variable light patterns and a traditonal auto dip/main beam arrangement. With dynamic or smart assist we get the above. It makes the option prices for an L&K even more odd really. Some have been charged £250 for light assist and others £100 for smart assist. I was chargd £100 but only got light assist. Hey ho, the wonders of brochure versus production standards. thanks again for making it clear.
  18. I am still confused, following on from my earlier threads, as to what is what with the 'light assist' and 'dynamic light assist' lighting systems. These are the two options appear in the owners manual but only light assist is available to me as a selection. The brochure refers to light assist and smart light assist just to confuse matters. AFS I understand as variable light patterns. Those listed in the owners manual are:- Out of town. City mode. Motorway mode. Rain mode. Fog mode. Dynamic cornering. Then there is travel mode and eco mode which basically turn off the AFS. This is standard on the SEL and L&K ? Or is it just some of those variables? 'Light assist' I think I understand as simply providing auto main beam?? So what is 'dynamic light assist'?? I have picked up from my previous posts that it includes the additional LED lights in the front headlamp unit but does it actually provide anything else above the AFS and light assist? Anyone know for sure?
  19. The Skoda check says "We wish to confirm that your vehicle with the Vehicle Identification Number you submitted, is not affected by software that may cause discrepancies in the values for oxides of nitrogen (NOx) during dynometer runs." So no new info there.
  20. Simply Clever. Not so sure just at the moment. I must have done something ****-eyed in downloading this update or the process is absolutely crap software. 10.30. Started download. 10.50. tmp file saved. Instruction to start download. 23.15 YES 23.15!. Download finishes. Instruction to start unpack. 0049. Unpack complete. AND I still have to get onto the hard disk in the car!!! That all sort of feels like there was no compression at all but then I am not that IT savvy so who knows. I can now confidently arrange routes to places as diverse as Iceland, Belarus. Bosnia-Herzgovina. Moldova. Romania. Russia. Turkey. Ukraine and many many more. Whoopee. That will blow my 10k annual mileage but who doesn't welcome an adventure To say I am not impressed would be an understatement. Why on earth can't we select the countries we want to keep up to date?
  21. Thanks for the offer Nick but probably easier for me to leave my sd card with my local dealer and pick it up later. I was just interested to know if anyone else had this problem. I have a relatively high speed connection for these parts so the file size shouldnt have been a problem. thanks again Pete
  22. I am having some difficulty in downloading this update. My PC downloads a .tmp file of 22GB at the speed I would expect from my connection but then it starts to download whatever else (the data files?) at stupid rates that I haven't seen since dial up days. Last attempt said it would take 24 hours!!! Anyone else had this or am I doing something wrong or missing something in my PC?? thanks in advance Pete
  23. Maybe they don't need to sell the car; it sells itself
  24. Thats the best laugh I have had in a while. If only it wasn't so important to many of us. Someone can't be bothered to find the person who knows-- methinks.
  25. GuzziDibble. Wanna share the method with all us other dinosaurs?
