  1. Mine does the same, but does use oil. Got flashing management light and misfiring on idle badly yesterday- But fine when revved and driven hard. Checked the plugs to show this.........
  2. Yes, I've just been checking prices of discs online...... I thought I was searching for Bentley Turbo parts when I saw the price....! Think I'll be going down the 312mm route!
  3. I'm looking to do the same. Will any of the VW platform 312mm set ups work on the fabia? Also have many people done the 334mm upgrade or is it a bit pointless on such a light car? Cheers!
  4. It probably would do, worth a try I guess. I'm leaving it as it is for now, see how it lasts over a little while.
  5. Dead easy mate, Take the plastic engine cover off first, the you'll see two m10 nuts holding the heatshield on. Take those off, then remove the three torx bolts on the front of the manifold cover. Be careful if they're rusty! I gave the heatshield a good scrub with a brass wire attachment on a Dremel to clean it up, getting rid of the crap on the face of it. Then wiped it over with cellulose thinners and sprayed it with Halfords very high temperature paint. Took a wander over to my local branch by pure chance today and they had in a few colours- such as metallic red... Hence being a tart! I gave it about four coats leaving 15 mins between, then after it dried an hour or so bunged it in the oven to cure- slowly took it up to 120 degrees for an hour. The less the wife knows about that the better However, I have probably gone overkill on the job! I'm sure any decent automotive paint will work just as well!
  6. I'll get a picture up once it's dried and back on the motor! Only thing is its drying matt, what with it being high temperature paint. Looks good in sunlight though!
  7. I haven't seen that one. I was contemplating polishing it, but it's the daily driver and I would get fed up of having to keep it buffed.... So I've gone and painted it red.... Seen as I have gone with the luminous snot green/ red theme on the car!?!
  8. Great stuff, cheers boys! I'll get on the bufty tart routine this weekend!
  9. Now I like them! What paint did you use? I was looking to us the vht flameproof stuff, but don't know if that's a bit overkill...
  10. Right boys, where to start- Has anyone painted the outer faces on thier Vrs manifold heatshield? If so was it successful or stupid........ Just wanting to tidy the heatshield up as its looking tired and the rest of the engine bay is mint!
  11. Hi, I don't suppose anyone knows what size/where I can get a set of rear brake caliper carrier bolts? The existing torx ones aren't in good nick and I'd like to get some new ones before I risk butchering the rusty ones! Cheers!
  12. That's what I said about a big FMIC, it was 'better value'..........
  13. I've been looking into one for mine for a while. Looks like it'll work out cheaper to go with a specialist exhaust builder! Does look to me that the only difference is the exit pipe from the back box is a fair bit longer than on the hatchback.
  14. No worries mate! Looks like we've been after the same info anyway. Just let me know when you've found someone doing buy one get one free on r32 calipers
  15. Hmmmmm, decisions decisions now....!? Time to trawl eBay for r32 bits me thinks! Thanks again everyone!
  16. Thanks! No need for spacer blocks I take it?
  17. Just wondering what brake upgrades people have done? Seen as standard aren't too great! I know some people use brackets and the Porsche calipers, but has anyone done any other things? Also has anyone's touched the rears? Cheers!
  18. Don't suppose anyone knows about a stainless exhaust on a Vrs estate? Probably will just go for custom built, but in looking/ measuring things up- the only difference seems to be the length of the exit pipes from the back box!?
  19. My thoughts too! I'll still be getting one as it'll have handy info either way.
