  1. Hi, I need to change a sidelight bulb and a quick look at the lighting unit would suggest it is not a straightforward bish-bosh job. Can anyone provide a decent "How-to when Xenons are fitted" please? Car is Octy vRS Mk1 55plate. PS - I did already search but closest I got was this and it didn't answer my question. Thanks in advance
  2. Rich, did you ever get this sorted? Mine's off, I've checked the fuse and its still off. Tried with the window switch in both positions and nothing. Skoda dealer said "There are 2 fuses for it" but couldn't tell me what other one (besides the one identified in the handbook) I should check. I'm stuck and facing a European drive without my SatNav....
  3. It doesn't work regardless. But in my car, the switch never did make any difference.
  4. I always have the rear windows disabled and the socket is (until now) always live. I use it to power my SATNAV and phone chargers. First thing I did was check the fuse which is intact and then I tested the heated mirrors and they do get warm. So it is safe to assuem that power is reaching the fuse box at the very least. I'm wondering if the wire could have come loose underneath the socket itself but without a Haynes manual I have no way of knowing how to remove it to check. Any help is appreciated. JT
  5. Hi, Since yesterday I have no power to my cigarette lighter socket. Bit Ironic considering yesterday was the start of the smoking ban. Anyhow, I have checked the fuse which also serves heated seats (not fitted) and heated mirrors. The heated mirrors still work so it would appear that power is getting through and past the fusebox. So, I'm wondering, does the ciggy lighter have a relay and if so, where the heck is it? Any other pointers would be appreciated. Cheers JT.
  6. the egg - walking away (tocadiscos acid walk mix)
  7. Not so in my case, I was told S.A. do it for 24hrs to start with. All I had to do was request an extension which I did....
  8. With the Dell Inspirons its worth giving the fans/heatsinks a blast of air or a whizz with the hoover once a month just to keep them clean. Cleaner heatsinks means cooler chips and that can only be good...
  9. When it comes to work laptops I pay the money and get a 3 year onsite NBD. If its for myself I'd live without it and spend the money on upping the spec. Mind you, work laptops are bashed about whereas mine are loved and cared for.
  10. You're paying for (up to) 8 Meg... You're getting 3.5Meg down and .35 Meg up. Any idea what you ISP quotes your upspeed as?
  11. I'm on it.... My fault for charging in and not paying attention. Thanks for advice.
  12. I installed the GUI. I'll start again....
  13. Its a pretty naff interface/set-up/program considering the global involvement. Sadly I've just lost 5 hours of work due to trying to get 2 running. Its now started again. :(
  14. Hmmm, tried that, says its already running...
  15. Well you see that's the failing in posting it on Briskoda, cos everyone here is clever
  16. Here's a cynical view.... Visit a few car forums. Post a few random posts Wait a week or so Post a "I clean my car with brake fluid" Sit back and watch people try it for themselves.... Of course, it could just be "tip of the week" but I'm not about to try it....
  17. Is there a quick and dirty way to do this? All my home PCs are either dual core or hyperthreading processors. PS - Thanks for explanation
  18. Just started doing this on my new Core 2 Duo but it seems to be only using 50% average of the CPU(s) How come? Can't I make it go faster?
