  1. Thought I should update the post in case others suffer the same issue. I got back to skoda saying I wasn't happy with their offer of 10% and they said they'd see if they could do any better. After almost 4 weeks of weekly updates from them saying they were having discussions between themselves they finally got back to me and RESULT - they're covering 100% of the costs! THANK YOU WINO for your help. Also this result has partially restored my faith in Skoda. It finally went to the dealership yesterday, they said it could take 4 days. I'll update the post again if there is more to add, but hopefully this is the end of it! Thanks again WINO, you saved me £1400 there.
  2. My A/C stopped working while the car was sat on the drive during the UK quarantine. I got it regassed and it worked while driving home. However the next day it was not working again. At that point I took it to my nearest skoda dealer to diagnose. Initially they said a pressure sensor needed replacing as they couldn't get it to work at all. 2 weeks later and after that's fixed they tell me they cannot see a leak, and they'll put a lot more dye in and for me to run it for a few weeks. Before I can even pick it up the next day they've told me they can see a large amount of the dye in the undertray under the dash (I think this is accurate, I can't remember exactly their phrasing here) and so their diagnosis is a failed evaporator unit in the dash unit. They then quote me £1800 to fix it. They also warned me they have no idea what they'll see once they get the dash up so it may be the evaporator itself won't need replacing and a be a cheaper fix, or it may be they say it'll cost more if it's something even more disasterous.. I've now spoken to skoda customer support as well and they've said they're willing to take 10% off the price of the part, and a quarter off the labour costs. I think this means i'll be more like £1300-1400 (and that's if they don't find something even more terminal). They've already had £250 off me for the initial diagnosis and 'fix'. What are your thoughts on this? I bought the car new, had it serviced the first 3 years at their dealership and it's only done 40k miles.
  3. I'm debating whether to cause a stink at the dealer - top of my priority list is I want the air pressure issues sorted. I doubt the tyre pressure changes will resolve it, so I need them to be on-side to help sort it out - it's hard to even prove there is a problem for them to fix. As a side note - the master technician or whatever he was called had no idea what I was talking about when I brought up pressure build up issues (me knowing full well about the 30+ page thread on it here). Said he thinks he remember once a long time ago of there being a hatch with the issue that needed the boot stops replaced to fix the issue. So it appears I have a dealer that will deny any knowledge of anything ever being a problem with booming/pressure issues. Asking them to redo the PDI is a neat idea.
  4. Yes Ken, so a failure to fully carry out the PDI check? Makes me worry what else they didn't bother doing :( I've had it 4 weeks and hadn't physically checked the pressures myself. Only driven it half a mile since they fixed their mistake, I'm expecting the TPMS warnings might go off on my way home tonight - or does it only detect differences in rotation between current tyres?
  5. Been getting the odd funny ear pressure issue with the car (got it new last month). Took it to the garage for them to adjust the boot slightly (I'm hoping loosening it a bit will help) but first they checked the tyre pressures. Supposed to be 32psi on my 16" wheels. They were all 50psi! They've not modified the boot yet, we shall wait and see what difference this makes. 50!?!?!
  6. Mine was build week 9. Was at Emsden March 22nd. Uk 1st April. Finally picking it up this Friday the 15th (felt like a long final 2 weeks wait) Took a pre-existing build, so my desired smartlink addon had to be done at the dealers, which I was assured multiple times would be done before collection. Got a call today from the dealer saying it won't be done for collection day - he didn't know there was a 2 week wait between him getting the car VIN and requesting it, and getting the code back for activation. Grr...
  7. That sucks. I'm part exchanging mine this week, and last weekend I found someone had smashed my rear windscreen overnight. And then Autoglass managed to leave shards of glass in the tailgate that move around inside every time I open and close it, so waiting for them to fix this before I do the part exchange. Pain in the arse.
  8. I got a quote last week of 2k off a deal on finance on carwow. When I enquired further he said it was including the 1k dealer contribution in the quote. Felt that was a bit cheeky and confusing, as some of the other offers had less than 1k off, so they weren't including the dealer 1k.
