Longevity improvements? 150 Tdi
Hi, 1) vacuum-oil pumps generate rattles when cold. 2) water pumps tend to fail on 60-70k km 3) there is DPF sensor which tends to fail due to being placed very close to the DPF (melts at some point after 100k km Good luck

Strange engine sound
@Peter1178 @BATI2TA - I'm sure first tine I've heard it was after first change of oil. Not sure what was the factory one but the new one was Castrol. I've changed afterwards few times Castol and Shell..no diff. Those are only approved here by the local dealer. Can you please shed more light?

Canton. The age old debate.🤪
@TheUltraRunner - thank you! Did you mean small spare wheel can be combined w/ Canton (which is pretty OK for me) or it can be also done with full sized spare wheel?

Canton. The age old debate.🤪
Hi, in any case before judging, wait for awhile so the speakers will set in. For O4 does it mean that you can't have spare wheel at all, or it is positioned in the center of a spare wheel?

@razyel nice thread. Please keep on posting regarding the new disks and the stage. Are you sure the rear disks are 272 stock?

Octavia oil pump noise on cold morning.
You are on the right track. Please share yout next steps, I'm interested as well. Sounds like broken, already 4 years in my car. Once the warranty is over I want to replace the pump as well.

Turbo & Injectors upgrade on 150hp DSG
@forinta thank you, appreciated. I have strange pedal feel, grabs good in the beginning and around middle I feel pedal went hard and like missing any braking assitance. Also simulating it in parked state...starting to press, feels assisted and around half...hard. Those brought me bad feelings when accelerating and braking suddenly hard. Just like a have a brake vacuum gone. Can you please share if you had similar and if this is something that brake components can fix. Cheers

Turbo & Injectors upgrade on 150hp DSG
hi, can you please share your experience and how it changed the car? Thinking about this step at the moment (60k km). Are there any drawbacks? Did you feel you need to upgrade the suspension, tyres or breaks? Thank you!

Strange engine sound
@Skodilakrs1 we are all aware of the issue. One thing is not clear : is it dangerous? And its not clear if new is installed will it develop the noise again.. Do you know?

Strange engine sound
@nikvuksa - I did not, yet. Might change it with new if I keep the car when the warranty finishes. Yes, its terrible - like something is totally not right...

2016 Octavia VRS Diesel Strange Engine Noises
@simonds3135 first one is 100% vacuum-oil pump. This is common noise for our diesels. There is a technical bulletin and wont be changed under warranty. Skoda calls it cosmetic and non harmful issue. Mine has it from brand new, developed it around 15k km. Since then I'm searching and asking, it can be heard on brand new as they've shown me. Unfortunately asking around I found a russian guy who replaced his and the new one developed similar after awhile. Very discouraging to be honest. FYI its only 2.0 TDI in Octavia from our generation. Once the temperature reaches around 80 deg it disappears. Louder on the right side as on our video. Vacuum-oli pump (its combined one). Hope this helps.

Lots of regens
I have a post here from 2018 with screenshots. Failing regens outaide the mentioned km and time for completion, as far as I know can be due to : faulty EGR, faulty fuel injector, faulty pressure sensor
-
Lots of regens
@Motion I've meant the lack of heat. Yes heat is what turns soot to oil ash, you are right. At 180km/h engine produces a lot of heat, but also the wind is a lot. Not sure which is more. This is one of the reasons DPF is possitioned at the far end of the engine bay, closer to the exhausts and far from the cooling wind.

Lots of regens
@J.R. usually I use the VAG DPF to see the schedule and when it's finished. I've detected it being ~16km, even when driving on B roads. BTW I've never saw the DPF icon, just the regular regens.. where on idle..its trying and gives up (start stop becomes avail) BUT the icon says regen is scheduled for next start. @langers2k is right...Oil ash can't be zero. No way, if not brand new.. not sure what is here the issue.. @Motion the RPM does not seem to affect the regen. I've done live stats .. the load of the engine does affect it - like aircon, mostly its affected by hills. There is a say that above certain km/h its doing passive regens (not the actiive we are discussing), but I can't confirm. If you ask me the heat dispersion can be an issue at 180km, can't really advice if there is mechanism to prevent this OR the heat generated is enough for regen.

Lots of regens
The regen needs 16km to complete. Also staying still does not help.

2020 RS245 rattle / vibration noise
One vote for fuel pipes. Very popular issue in Octavia III. Take it to the service and asked them to fix them. They should be very familiar.

Mapping TDI advise
hi, thank you first of all! I believe you've answered me already, I was afraid of much more added torque in lower revs. Maybe keeping them till 1700-1900 rpm the same and spin up after those revs. I'm looking at Revo st.1 when my warranty is over soon. Not sure how this will reflect in the DPF build-ups at all..

Mapping TDI advise
@Vtec9000 can you please share experience for 150 TDI remap. Mainly I was looking if its safe enough for the turbo, flywheel, etc. How much was the gain, did it affect torque in lowerer revs or only higher revs?

Rear hissing noise
don't worry, pretty normal. Mine is the same

Hatchback vs Estate
1. Aerodynamics of the liftback are little better than those of the estate. We did drag raced few times equally equiped cars and after certain speed liftback goes little ahead due to better coefficient. Tested with petrol vRS and regular diesels. Equal gears as well DSG vs DSG, manual vs manual. 2. Liftback has better look to my eyes 3. Sound isolation in every estate is worse than sedans due to the tunneling sound effect 4. Octavia has very big boot but relatively low weight capacity. Meaning if you don't transport paper boxes or something that requires space vs weight then it's more likely to hit the weight limit first rather than the volume limit. 5. Main advantage of the estate is the additional head room above the back seats
