  1. is anyone after a used Bosal detachable towbar? my superb is going at the end of the month. its easily fitted. i'm a novice and fitted in c.2 hours in 2016. invisible when the neck is removed. good condition, only lightly used. includes both keys and carry case. collection swindon. c.£150. does not include the wiring.
  2. just to update on this. i've been fairly vocal on my annoyance by Skoda Customer Services and the dealership network when i first complained about my issue, so much so that i requested the paperowrk to start the Voluntary Termination which i can do from my May/June payment. my car went in last week for a regrease of wishbone bushes and i believe a new pair of bolts. that didn't cure the issue, so they have now started to replace the steering rack. i have been very impressed with my local dealers and Skoda Customer Relations since i complained to Skoda about how annoyed i was that i'd have to drive the car for 3+ weeks with a grinding noise and they didn't seem concerned to get it in quickly. they have now put me in to a VW Sharan for the duration of the repair, and have even confirmed they will address another warranty issue i had on the gearstick with delamination of the silver cover. i think its safe to say that i never bonded with the superb as much as i have other cars, but after doing 300 miles in the Sharan over the weekend, the Superb does driver very well and my SE-L model is significantly better equipped than the VW SE-L equivilent. i'll need to decide what to do over the next couple of months as to if i keep it longer than i had planned, or change back to volvo. i'm now on the fence.
  3. good luck with that. the lady at Skoda customer relations who handled mine said that she'd sort a replacement car for me whilst mine is being sorted as the dealer only offered a Fabia which wasn't suitable. they want to keep my car in as they wouldn't put their name to it saying it was safe to drive until they replace the steering rate (after the bush greasing on mine failed) and i was pleasantly surprised to hear that they had already submitted a request to VW's loan car dept (Mobex) and 9am this morning a 6 month old VW Sharen arrived for me to use for the duration of the repair. keep on at them. i wouldn't want to drive it with a dodgy gearbox.
  4. glad to hear you're having a bit more success. mines in today for their fudge on the bushes - can't see that a regrease of the bushes and new bolts will stop my grinding for too long. i'd have thought it would have been simpler to replace the bushes. just seems like they are doing the cheapest fudge to get them out the remaining 6 month warrenty period rather than providing a lasting fix and its taken them 10 days to get hold of the grease. i suppose its a bit like their attempt at repairing your gearbox rather than replacing. my bush problem will unfortunately will be a problem for the next owner as the car will be going by the end of this month.
  5. i've a 2wd 190 dsg estate. 22k on clock. around town i'm mid 30's, mixed driving will get 43-45, and a long steady motorway trip of c.70/75 will achieve a maxumum of 48-52 depending on conditions. if i go 80, then it drops to mid 40's on the motorway.
  6. +1. and insist upon a replacement car until its resolved. once is unlucky. three times on a 5 week old car completely unacceptable. does it go into limp mode? if so, reject on safety. i wish you luck. i've found the dealer network lacking. its taken mine 1 whole day to inspect a grinding from steering rack/wishbone, now i have to wait 9 working days for them to get the parts and book it in for a fix which will take another full day. 9 days for some parts is acceptable, but 9 days to wait for them to supply a tub of grease so they can grease the bushes is ridiculous. thankfully i'm voluntary terminating my PCP this month so it won't be my problem. ps - when my car was without problem - its was an okay car which got me from A-B in a nice manner - but when problems occur i've found the resolution awful compared to other manufacturers.
  7. i use a Thule Towbar Bike Rack. I cannot fault it. i have the 4 bike version of this. Bike sits behind the car so no noise, no danger of falling off or cracking rear screen, and best thing is it tilts so i can still access boot on long journeys. i only had the towbar fitted for this as i originally bought it when i ran a Volvo XC90 and it was too high to easily lift the bikes onto. only downside - it makes the car a bit long to get into a normal parking space when stopping for breaks.
  8. UK car - driver side affected for me - near the B pillar area. i found the noise coming from mine is worse when driving with a winding aiming towards the drivers door. i was driving north to south and there was a southwest/westerly wind. i haven't even bothered trying to get a skoda dealer to drive it to replicate the noise - and i know they would not take my word for it. they usually need to have the car for a complete day.
  9. i've just seen your problems with the tailgate. in addition to my other problems which i listed in the thread i started, i also had the tailgate problem for a period of time. at one stage it was only shutting sucessfully around 10% of the time. i assume yours is an estate too? have you tried shutting it without closing the load cover? have you checked to ensure that all plastic trim around boot edge is secure and fitted properly? apparantly the issue with my car was to do with plastic trim fouling the shutting - only by a millimetre or so, but enough to stop full closure. good luck in getting it fixed.
  10. i'm stunned too. i'd have thought they would have just replaced the gearbox - i expect the cost in labour is probably higher than them replacing the box then refurbishing the old one and then selling that on.
  11. just PM'd you his contact details. it took a bit of trail and error to find the correct email format, but after success i received a reply from his PA and then a call from Customer Relations the following day. i have to add that the lady i've been speaking with at Customer Relations spent around 40 mins on the phone with me initially, and then another 10 mins after she'd spoken with my local dealer. Have to say that whilst my issue is not resolved, its nice to have a someone taking ownership of resolving it. hopefully she sorts your problem.
  12. just to update this. dealer has now inspected the car. the steering rack which was identified as being at fault by Skoda Assist (and got me very concerned) now appears to be diagnosed as a bush problem - which is what i originally suspected (hence why this thread is called wishbone bush). skoda dealer want to grease the bush and fit new bolts - which i was surprised about - i thought they'd just replace the bush/wishbone rather than grease the bush. still, as i won't be keeping it much longer it won't be my problem if it starts again in 12 months when the grease dries out.
  13. my rear vent broke too - came off in my oldest son's fingers - thankfully he is old enough not to put in his mouth - but others may not be lucky. i gave my son a telling off, accusing him of breaking it, but then saw it appeared to be common. skoda uk agreed to replace mine under warranty last year. agree with you about the poor customer care from Skoda - Skoda UK and my local dealer are pretty poor compared to another brand which i've had for 15+ years prior to the skoda. the service desk of my local dealer is just damn right rude. i've just dropped my car off today. the general feeling i get is that the customer is a pain in the ass. thankfully i'm at the Voluntary Termination point on my Skoda finance so will be getting rid of mine over the next few weeks. i emailed the UK Director - Rod Mcleod last week about my views and to explain why i am terminating and will not buy another Skoda (or VW, Seat or Audi). i received a reply 40 minutes later saying he'd read it, and was passing it to Customer Relations who i received a call from 21 hours later - i missed their call, so called them back, but still now awaiting their return call to discuss my issues and problems. i almost changed my 2015 SE-L Superb for a new Sportline or Kodiaq last November when mine was 2 years old - but decided to keep for another 12 months as i'd have needed to put more cash into the deal than i had wanted. i explained to Rod that due to my poor service that won't happen so they have lost another £31000+ sale, and that as i am Voluntary Terminating (UK Consumers Rights when 50% of finance agreement paid) they will lose approximately £2000-2500 based on the current trade in value of my current car against the finance outstanding on the contract. Just wanted them to see what poor customer service will cost them from one customer. Did you pay for any of yours on a credit card? in the UK we have Consumer Laws which means if we pay more than £100 on a Credit Card, the Credit Card company is jointly liable for the fault - called a "Section 75" - so even if only £100 of the £31000 price was paid on a card, the card is liable too. I have now lined up a new Volvo V90 R-Design on a PCH which is £40 per month cheaper than my Superb and no upfront payments. Good luck sorting your problems.
  14. i've decided to voluntary terminate my PCP agreement on this car - which thankfully is available in 3 weeks time on my next pcp finance payment. this is primarily due to Skoda's "Customer Service", or lack of it. the noise of the steering rack sounds dreadful and has got worse since last week. i've just completed a 1500 trip to and around scotland and back (family wedding). none of my local skoda dealers were prepared to view the car before i went. Skoda assist did view and verbally said in their opinion it was safe to drive but i'd need to take it to a dealer. the earliest my local Swindon or Gloucester dealer could see the car for investigation work was 3 weeks, then another 2-3 weeks before they'll have the part to fit (if its not available in the UK). i have an appointment booked for tomorrow with a dealer 30 miles away, but i can't be bothered to do 2 x 2 hour round trips to take the car for diagnostic then another trip for repair. so they can collect the car as it is. All Skoda Customer Services said to me in a message when i raised my concerns on safety was ""if you still feel as though the vehicle is unsafe then we recommend that you do not carry out the journey". not what you are expecting when complaining about the noise which you've been told is coming from the steering rack before a large journey. a large family estate would have cost me £400 to hire for the week which i was not prepared to swallow given i spent so much on the superb. all they needed to have done to keep me happy was give me a Superb courtesy car for my trip whilst they dealt with mine. i'll be going back to Volvo which i had prior to this Skoda for the past 15+ years - which between our 2 car household has been at least 5 x S60's; 1 x V40, 1 x C70; 1 x V70, 1 x XC90. whilst i'm sure a V90 probably won't be 100% problem free, i have previously had excellent customer service from 2 local Volvo dealers, and Volvo UK who have even given a "goodwill" payments of £500 on 5.5 year old car when a component had failed. just need to decide whether i get a banger to run for 3 months whilst i wait for a new build, or get a nearly new next month. Adios - good luck with your cars.
  15. mine had this issue - slow/not fully retracting. i complained about mine on the first service. they lubed the runner which helped, for a bit. i then complained about it again. dealer got it replaced it under warranty in the end and now working okay.
  16. all i want to know is if people are getting higher prices than their guaranteed future minimum payment - which skoda finance estimated when they launched the model c.2.5 years back. if they are getting more than the GFMV i'm likely to have more from the car at the back end when i trade in so it could be worth keeping a bit longer - if they are only getting the GMFV or offered less, it makes sense to walk now rather than paying the next 12 months which is dead cash into this current car. i'll then go stick my cash into another new vehicle. (and before anyone says that by VT'ing i'm may not get another VW/Skoda/Audi finance - i know that is a risk which i am happy to take)
  17. i'm not factoring in the cost of the new car. i'm just referring to the likely equity if i keep it for the term and sticking another £4.2k into this car in the hope there is a chance of equity at the end (v's cancelling now and walking away with nothing). if anyone who is at the trading in stage now - are they getting more or less than the original guaranteed future minimum value?
  18. thats what i thought... i got a quote on a new Kodiaq and Sportline 4 months back and was unpleasantly surprised trade in price was already £1000 under the finance at that time. hence why i'm thinking its daft to stick another £4000 into the car when i am unlikely to get any of it back. (i initially thought that 2nd car prices would rally a bit after the £ dropped against the Euro as i thought new car prices would increase a bit - but that does appear to have happened).
  19. as these cars are starting to come up to 2.5-3 years old, and no doubt started to get traded in, has anyone with PCP's found they're getting offers higher than the final payment on their PCP deal? i took mine out over 42 months, and is due to expire May 2019. My Voluntary Terminiation point is May/June 2018 and i am seriously considering getting rid now as i don't think the additional 12 months payments until May 2019 will put more equity in the car. if there is a chance that i could have a sizeable amount of equity in the car, i might be tempted to keep for another 12 months, but it would cost me £4200 for the next 12 months which i doubt is unlikely to turn into equity. then i have a final payment of £12k. thanks in advance.
  20. Dealerships i spoke with didn't raise a concern over it being rejected by warranty. If its not covered under warranty then the work won't be done and i'll VT the PCP even earlier.
  21. Skoda Assist chap has just left. has checked all bolts. was unable to stop noise but said its safe to drive. he thinks it'll need a new steering rack. bit of a joke. both local dealers are booking 3+ weeks ahead if i need a loan car. managed to get one 35 miles away who can look at it next week.

  23. hi, sorry, was difficult to film and turn wheel. i chopped the video down so i could upload it. the clicking starts at c.5 seconds and goes click click click - this is whilst going from full right lock to full left lock and continuing to continuously turn the wheel left.. the sound seems to be originating from the rear bush of the front wishbone - almost to the centre of the vehicle in line with the front axle. i couldn't get my head fully in as wheels need to be on ground for noise to happen. when lifted onto stands, noise disappears. i used to have a mechanics stethascope for these types of things but i couldn't find the wretched thing yesterday. i had an audi s6 many moons back during a dry summer, the bushes always used to creak - but considering we've had so much rain and it looked pretty damp underneath yesterday (no sign of stuck stones). there appears to be slightly more movement in the bush on the side when the noise is louder noise than on the other drivers side - only a fraction though.
  24. have also read it could be sub frame bolts. i think they might be connected in the same area. Local dealer said they couldn't look at it or sort it by COB Tuesday and advised i contact Skoda assist. Skoda assist are due to come to me at 2pm today. hope it can be sorted as i don't fancy taking the 2nd car on our holiday. the lady on Skoda assist did mention a courtesy car but the paperwork suggests this would only be for 48 hours a replacement "vehicle" could end up being a Ford Ka so i don't want to rely on that. i couldn't upload much, but this is the sound of it. no video as the phone was sat in a slipper on the road so it didn't get damaged. 25. Hi all, ive got a November 2015 190 day estate. was out in it today and started making a horrible grinding noise when steering wheel turned left. Most noise is in 2/3s of steering travels from right lock to left lock, so probably the bit most used. no noise turning right. have just got it up on jack and stands and noise goes. springs and suspension all okay. Track rod ends all look tight. when dropped down onto wheels noise starts again. think I’ve pinned it down to the front near side trailing arm Bush. Bit more movement when steering left to right than on the equivalent on the offside. car has only done 22k. question 1. would this be a warranty thing? question 2. I’ve got a 1500 mile trip late Tuesday onwards.. It’s pretty annoying, but will it affect safety? question 3. My closest dealer normally booked 3 weeks ahead. What’s the chances of them fitting it in tomorrow so I can take it Tuesday night (being a biggish job and part on shelf?) ? I need a big family car as it’s a big family trip. i intend to voluntary terminate my pcp in 2 months so if they class it as wear and tear I’ll be not having it done as I expect it’ll be 300 quid min of work. Ta very much in advance.
