  1. thank you chaps. i couldn't find that page when i was searching earlier. i better find out about the Freedom stuff then.
  2. Hi all, as the title says. Is there a page specifically for skoda sales? looking to sell my 2 yr old SE-L DSG 190 estate, so thought i'd try here before autotrader. many thanks. Stu
  3. i hit a pot hole 15 months back - car in front swerved to avoid, but i couldn't as it would have been unsafe. ( i could see half a mile down the road, just not the nearside tramline from where i was positioned). hit the pot hole. tried the ACC 2 days after, and it was unavailable. coincidentally i'd just fitted a towbar, so assumed it was connected to that, so i had to get it realligned at a cost of c.£250. i've read its quite common, and not covered under warranty. i halflike my Superb, but not enough to buy another. after 11 years of Volvo's i'll be going back there as soon as i am able to get out my current contract.
  4. excuse my error. I clicked the link and it went to the racechip. i didn't realise it was a seperate component to the Pedal tuning...Is this pedal tuning better than the "Audi" pedal fix which can be done by VCDS, as i found very little difference doing that fix to my 190 dsg. Thanks.
  5. whats the general feeling on these chips? I've had proper remaps done before on my current and previous volvos which have increased power/torque by 20-25%. all done via an OBDII download/upload, with good results from a Swedish tuning comapny. Paid the necessary insurance surcharge of £50-70 for privilege. i've previously gone to MTE for volvo remaps as there is a good track record of reviews and no engines blowing up like some off the shelf remaps. are these race chips as safe, or reliable? How do insurers tend to view them? Are they classed as a power mod increase, like a remap? the 190 dsg i've got feels potent most of the time, but i'd like a bit more mid range grunt.
  6. my little sods broke the horizontal slider on mine last year. reckoned he was just adjusting it... i took it to the main dealer - said its not good enough quality. replaced a day later with a new one under warranty.
  7. 190 dsg se-l estate. 18k on the clock, reg in Nov 2015. on a motorway cruise at 70 over a trip 30-40 miles i can get 50/55 mpg. but that is nursing it carefully. on a normal day to day usage - a roads, town trips etc - again careful driving, i usually brim to brim at c.45mpg. if driven fast on the motorway, usually down to low/mid 40's. wish i'd gone for the 150 now, or a petrol.
  8. i did a vcds scan last night. few errors, but none relating to that date. wiped them all. i'll see how it goes over next couple of weeks. i expect its due a service soon, so will mention it when its in with the stealer.
  9. yep. i really felt like i did when i was 17 and had a 20 year old £500 fiat which used to cut out. not what you'd expect from a £30k car, and thankfully it was a slow junction otherwise i could have had someone in the back/side/front of me. i'll run vcds later and check for codes.
  10. i had a problem yesterday with my 2015 Superb 190 dsg. pulled out of a roadside parking space - car was reasonably warm. indicated right, to turn into a junction 90' to the right. the auto stop kicked in, just as an ongoing car flashed me to turn. i hit the throttle and went to turn - expecting the engine to fire back up - and bugger all happened. dash came up saying "manual restart required". i'm stuck in the middle of the road - queue behind me, and preventing cars turning out the junction for at least 90 seconds. i put it back to "Park". but the ignition would not fire the engine back up. i opened/shut door, removed key, kept trying to restart, and only after about 90 seconds (longest 90 seconds of my life), the engine started and car then drove normally. interestingly, the auto stop/start didn't kick in again after that - i kept it on to try and replicate is more controlled environment, but it fully behaved. has anyone else had the same issue? i'll stick VCDS on it later to see if there are any codes. thanks
  11. thats on a superb estate. i asked for bright "ferrari" red, or bright (golf R) style blue. the wife would never agree to that. now have to see what my local dealer comes back on price for a Sportline model in a bright colour. it makes you wonder how these car shows wheeler dealers/supercar rebuild/classic car rebuild etc can find it in their budget to do this over a full respray. i suppose they do a lot of the labour, but its still expensive.
  12. think i might have to shelve this idea for the moment. his work looks amazing on the cars on his website, and he removes door handles/mirrors etc so there are no visible film lines. the cost though would be c.£2000+vat give/take depending on the film and coverage required. if i had a £100k car, its a no brainer to change the colour, but on my car currently valued at c.£20k, this kind of money would put me into a car 2 years newer and i could spec the colour i wanted. might need to give this idea a miss. :(
  13. wow, when you have a look at his gallery, there are a number of £100k+ cars in there. If its good enough to go on those, then its good enough for my superb! think i'll drop him a line, and hopefully persuade the wife it'll be cheaper than swopping the car
  14. i'd be very interested to hear about costs on this too. i've a '65 plate estate in business grey. now fancy the red like on the sportline, but wary of cost and quality compared to paint. if i did that, i think i'd also swop the rear bumper valance to the same as the sportline. currently waiting to hear back from dealer as to what the cost would be to hop into a sportline.
  15. precisely. At the time i'd heard that a recalibration was c.£450, so was relieved at £250 - so didn't fancy arguing. At the time it was uncommon too, as i'd not heard any others experiencing the same. Now it appears more common, so wish i'd argued my case. i wonder if i had rear ended someone when the front assist was not working, if the insurance company would have had a gripe with skoda, as no doubt the insurance category is determined by the safety features helping to reduce rear end shunts?
  16. my Nov 2015 SE-L Exec 190 DSG had this problem after owning it for 6 months / 6000 miles. My local Swindon Skoda dealer didn't have the equipment. VW and Audi dealers weren't interested in even listening to me to see if they would do it. Had to travel to the Bristol dealer - same company as the one which i bought it from brand new - and £250 lighter it is now working. They refused to entertain a warranty repair, and reckoned it just went out of calibration. Not impressed, but 1 year later (touch wood) and i've not had any issues, but each time the washer fluid warning light comes on i panic just in case its the same issue. Thank you reminding me of this - i've just enquired about a new Superb sportline from the same dealer - and considering they charged me to recalibrate a system i'd have expected to last longer than 6 months, i'll have to remind them of this when negotiating.
  17. rear bumper removal is a doddle. few screws around the rear of the rear wheelarch, and inside boot (from memory), then easily lifts off. hardest bit is the wiring - took me hours to do as its so fiddly, in particularly connecting to the wiring loom under the glovebox. secondly, I had to remove the Adblue tank to fit my towbar - which is a PITA if you've just refilled it as its bloody heavy to hold/suspend whilst doing up/removing the bolts.good luck with it.
  18. same happened here. Got it replaced under warranty as i argued it should take more than an 8 yr old boy knocking it to damage it.
  19. thank you Penquin17. i was thinking the same. unless it was in for engine/gearbox warranty work where Skoda were expecting to foot the bill, i thought its unlikely they'd bother looking.
  20. hello all, my 2015 190 dsg superb is going into the dealers over the next few weeks for a couple of warranty things - non responsive screen when really cold; fan sometimes stays on a lot (although this might be DPF, as has stopped over past month when i've done more miles). I'll get them to do a service at the same time, as its not yet had one done. I made a couple of changes on VCDS - Audi pedal/keeping rear LED's on/couple of extra menus in the Dotmatrix screen/off road on Columbus. Would any of these changes be likely to affect a warranty claim, so should i revert to standard before it goes in? Thanks in advance. Rog.
  21. i've had this occur a few times this winter in my Superb SE-L which was registered in Nov 2015. I updated the map software a few months back. only way i could get the system to function was by pressing power button for 5-10 seconds, then it rebooted. only happened when temperature was around freezing. i've not done anything about it yet, but if it continues i'll let the dealer know.
  22. hi, i've got a 2015 Se-L estate. the boot shuts 95% of the time as expected - the only time it does not do it consistently is when doing the school run at 8:30 in the morning. i can remove the backpacks from the boot, shut it on at least 3 or 4 occasions then give up and give it a manual shove. any other location, or time of the day it shuts as planned. parking area for school is levelish road. there are no visible obstructions. any suggestions on how to fault find this - its so intermittent i don't fancy having to convince the dealer of the problem.
  23. noticed my load cover wouldn't retract properly this morning in the -6'c temperature. Electronic boot closure would also not shut correctly. :(. annoying that its happened now, as its only just been to garage for a couple of warranty repairs. would be interested to know how everyone else gets on if they report their issues to skoda.
  24. afraid i cannot comment on the trim or led question, but i did fit my MY2016 SE-L with an aftermarket removable Bosal towbar - with Westfalia electrics. i had no factory wiring. THe wiring i used was https://www.pfjones.co.uk/skoda-superb-towbar-wiring-kit-13-pin-2015-onwards-305408300113.html, the job took me about 3 hours to fit the towbar, but the wiring took about 7-8 hours. the fitting knocked my adaptive cruise control out, so i couldn't recalibrate that myself, so that cost me c.£250 to get that sorted. the towbar coding was easy, but i spent hours trying to get the cruise control working again without sucess. even vagcom couldn't get it working so it had to be recalibrated. in all, i reckon i spent over 40 hours coding, recoding to get it all to work in harmony. the wiring into the existing loom is an absolute pig as you have to disconnect certain wires from the connecting blocks to piggy back off of. i was quoted c.£1000 to have a dealer fit. i probably spent around £600 on parts plus vcds, plus another £250 for the cruise recalibration. in hindsight, if i knew the time it would take, i'd have spent £1000 getting the dealer fit, or an indy to do it for c.£600. An indy i later spoke with said the wiring is one of the worst hes come across. i'd never try this again after the time hassle involved. sorry i cannot answer the question on the trim/led, but hope the above experience gives you a bit of foresight on the problems i encountered and unless you're an expert in the subject it might be worth passing it to a specialist totake the hassle away.
