  1. Hi Carl, Thanks for that. Over Xmas I hope to get to the dealer for a look and will see if I can connect as well. Anthony.....
  2. Hi, I have the Superb II Elegance 170 CR Tdi with the Bolero touchscreen radio with full bluetooth connectivity to my existing iPhone 3Gs. I have previously used the iPhone 3G successfully in this car with the Bolero radio. I am being tempted by the dealer to trade in for the same model (170HP) with the Columbus sat nav system installed. Will the iPhone work with the Columbus e.g., phonebook download, full bluetooth connectivity? Thanks, Anthony.....
  3. Hi, I have seen some other threads on the original iPhone and the 3G version not working with the Columbus head unit, but will the iPhone 3Gs work with the Columbus? I am mulling over a trade in and the new car would have the Columbus unit but the bluetooth phone connectivity is extremely important to me. Thanks, Anthony.....
  4. Hi, As the proud owner of the expensive 170CR Elegance (I had added park assist and rear door blinds as extras to it.), I was contacted by my dealer regarding the price drop and extra spec. He will gladly supply the new version (sat nav/park assist) with rear door blinds for €5500. I am due a 30k service in January and new tyres. I have been plagued with a rear sensor problem, numerous trips to the dealer. Whats your views on that offer? Bryan, sorry to hear about your job. Best of luck! BTW. Heated rear seats were part of the original Elegance spec. Regards, Anthony.....

  6. Hi, I am currently driving a Superb II 170HP Elegance and was contacted by 'my dealer' today regarding a trade in. The price has dropped by €5K in Ireland and the spec has been improved to include Park Assist and Sat Nav in the Elegance. The spec sheet states "Columbus navigation system with dynamic module (map software CD not included)". Where can the maps for Europe be purchased and how much do they cost? BTW, the dealer is looking for €5,500 to trade up after a year. Should I be tempted? Thanks, Anthony.....
  7. Hi Gtec, Still working OK. However, I have not washed the car since as the weather sucks really bad and haven't been brave enough to face the cold. Anthony.....
  8. Hi, I collected the car on Wednesday after the garage changed the control box. So far so good, but I am paranoid about its next wash. I will definitely avoid too much pressure in the area of that sensor. When the problem is present on the car, it makes no difference if I take it out of reverse a thousand times. It just will not go away. I hope that its finally sorted. Regards Anthony.....
  9. Hi, I have a Superb II 170hp Elegance and have had a rear parking sensor problem since the day I picked up the car. It is the second sensor from the left and beeps continously as if the car is in very close proximity to an object. It initially began with the odd solid tone and the display on the radio would show that red band close to the car graphic to indicate close proximity. It then became a constant problem. As soon as I put the car in reverse the sensor would activate. I took it to the dealer who changed the sensor and the problem was back before I left the garage. They made up a wire loom from the sensor to the control box and that solved the problem. They ordered a factory loom and fitted it a few weeks later. They washed the car as a courtesy, I sat in, engaged reverse and the sensor was on full tone again. Went home and after a day or two it began to work fine. Was careful washing the car until last weekend when I washed that area with the powerwasher and now the problem is constant again. The dealer has ordered a replacement control unit and will fit that tomorrow to see if that will help with the problem. Despite using the powerwasher on all the sensors, it is the same sensor every time. Has anybody had this problem? Has anyone any solutions? Is changing the control unit a waste of time? This is taking from my enjoyment of the car and I want it sorted. All help apprecaited. Regards, Anthony.....:(
  10. Hi Bagpuss, I was contacted by my dealer last week about a recall regarding the fuel tank or filler. I didn't take too much notice once they said it wasn't urgent and it doesn't cost me. BTW Have you tried your windows with the method I got from the importer.? Regards, Anthony,,,,,,
  11. Why could they not leave it alone like the Octavia II, set it once and forget about it, safe in the knowledge that it worked everytime whether the car was locked or not. Some things should be left alone.. Regards Anthony.....
  12. Hi, As it was a beautiful morning I decided to try the rain closing option in the real world. I put my faith in the technology and in the fact that an Irish summer would guarantee rain within the hour. My faith in the weather was justified. I have just survived a monsoon and more importantly, my windows closed when it rained. As I ran through the rain to the car and pressed the unlock button I feared for my leather interior and dreaded the thoughts of all the windows opening as they had during my hosepipe tests. Low and behold, they stayed closed. It appears that if it is still raining the windows stay closed and if it is not raining/hosing they will all open. God be with the days of my Datsun 120Y that had so many leaks I used to have spare socks and shoes with me but the freedom it gave was worth any pain. Now in middle age I want everything to make my life easier and my windows to close by themselves. Regards Anthony......
  13. Yes I should try that. Considering the summer we are having, I wont have to wait long for rain. I don't understand! Why should opening the windows automatically when I unlock the car be of any use to me when I could see that they were already closed? Best wishes, Anthony,
  14. Hi, I am aware of that feature and it requires holding down the unlock button. What happened to my windows was after a 'regular' quick unlock. I tried this a few times and same result every time, opened all 4 windows 30-50 mm. Regards, Anthony,
  15. Hi All, I have been in contact with the Skoda importer in Ireland and they have been very helpful. They contacted the main works for the answer which was the same as everyone else here has got. Its how the system is supposed to work. However, there was one word in their reply that struck me. "The system is reset after the car is unlocked". I had never tried the system with the car locked as it had worked on my Octavia regardless of whether the car was locked or not. After work I grabbed my trusty hose-pipe and tried out the new advice. I ticked the box for rain closing in the convenience sub-menu, partially opened the drivers door window, exited and locked the car. With great anticipation, I began to hose the windscreen around the sensor. After some "hosing" - the window closed. Aha, result, I hear you scream. Not too sure about that!!! I then unlocked the car and as well as unlocking the doors, it opened all four windows by 30-50 mm. That meant after entering the car I have to close all four windows. I am to report back to the importer on Monday. I will give them the results of my highly complex experiments and see what they have to say to that. Best wishes, Anthony,
  16. HI, I cannot believe the first comments on Tarrants and am surprised that people were treated badly. I have just ordered my 6th car from them. My wife is on her 3rd Fabia. Never had a problem and would be very slow to leave them for the quality of aftersales care they have provided me. Example: Sent the head mechanic 60 miles to my house to check the car when the electrics acted up. Sent his son out at midnight to help me after the security stud stripped while changing a flat tyre. Personally, I could not recommmend them enough! Always very happy. Anthony.....
  17. Hi Bryan, It will probably be in March. There is an 6-8 week wait. Anthony,
  18. Hi Bryan, That is the car that changed my mind. I was the first behind the wheel after it rolled off the transporter. They were still washing the 'delivery goo' from it when I arrived. It does not have the park assist or the sun blinds on the rear doors. Other than that it is the machine I will be getting. I need to put a hitch on it as well which costs a small fortune. Eamonn Tarrant will be dead happy. That's the 7th car I have bought from him and my wife is on her 3rd Fabia. We are a happy Skoda household. BTW - Based in Ballyduff, North Kerry. Happy Christmas to all. Anthony
  19. Hi All, Decision has been made and order placed. Made the mistake of testing the Superb with 170CR Tdi engine and loved it. Have ordered an Elegance in black metallic with cream leather, black floor carpeting, park assist and rear door blinds. Will not have it until March 09 due to waiting list, but cant wait. Hope I have done the right thing!!! Thanks for all your help as always! Anthony,
  20. Hi, I am leaning very strongly towards a Superb II Elegance 2.0CR TDI. I have a 15 month old and am wondering should I get the rear side window sun-blinds or the sunset glass option. Is the sunset glass much darker then the front windows? Does it make the car look odd eg should it all be dark or should it all be regular glass. I am buying a black metallic car? Is it as effective as the sun-blinds for keeping harsh light of the baby? I don't want to get the glass and then find that I need blinds as well. The cost in Ireland is:- Blinds €191 Sunset glass €262 Anyone got a photo of their car with sunset glass that they could post or send to me? Thanks Anthony
  21. Hi, Is Steel Grey an official UK colour option or are members just calling it that? In the catalogue in Ireland, the colours are:- Satin Grey Platin Grey Anthracite Grey Which one of these are 'Steel'? Anthony
  22. That would be the real deal!!!! Thanks everyone for all the help. I just received New Superb brochures in the post form Skoda Ireland. It looks pretty sweet. My biggest problem with the Superb would be massive depreciation. The old model did not fare well here when it came to trade in time. Has anyone got a problem with the quality of seat fabric on 07 Elegance? Mine has discoloured in places and looks quite cheap. All other Octavia's I have had did not have this problem. Car has only 40K miles and clean clothes worn always. Thanks Anthony
  23. Hi, Is the L&K available with a choice of leather seating? The brochure I have shows a very light grey leather. I cannot imagine that this is easy to keep. I have a 13 month old who likes to wreck all he touches. Would it be wise setting him loose on light grey leather? What are the seats in the RS like? Are they as comfortable as regular seats? Are they easy to maintain? I have 5 bad discs in my back so comfort is an issue. Would the ride be too hard in the RS considering the crap roads in rural Ireland? Thanks Anthony,
  24. Hi Chris, Am I correct in saying third pin from the left, top row? Anthony,
  25. Hi, Need to fit a car kit to my wifes Fabia. Which pin should I connect the radio mute cable to? Thanks, Anthony,
