Sasha’s Octavia vRS
Amazing modifications and a few of like but a practical question before I do anything and with 88 pages sorry if you have answered but how do you get on with insurance? It must be an enormous list to declare so I assume it needs a specialist provider?

Order Placed!
8 to 12 pretty accurate at the moment from our experience. Our car in country now and so depending on how long it’s at port it should be around 10/11 weeks for delivery. Pretty quick really.

2020 RS245 rattle / vibration noise
Yep totally common. Mine 245 does the same and every car I’ve had with soundaktor does the same. The nature of the vibration it produces to amplify the engine sound makes the dash vibrate sometimes as well. In my prefacelift vrs there was a bulletin as the soundaktor came loose but it’s just a bit rubbish really. Keep it in normal and it won’t do it.

Low frequency 'boom' in cabin
Agreed. It’s so much quieter than prefacelift and feels so much more sophisticated. I had a horrible time with my prefacelift vrs and worried about coming back to the fold but my fears unfounded.

Vrs 245 black gloss gear lever surround replacement
Hi all The gloss black dsg lever surround plate is badly scratched and previous owner looks like they tried to clean it but made it cloudy as well as scratched. I have minimal technical skills and wondered if it’s possible to get a replacement cover and if a skill less individual like me could fit it rather than a garage. If it is possible to change any idea on finding the part number 👍

Low frequency 'boom' in cabin
I’m glad you’re happier but must have cost a lot to achieve this. Thankfully my facelift dosent have this issue like my pre facelift 👍

Do I need to change both tyres?
Funnily enough so far I haven’t noticed any handling or traction issues with the tyres as they are with 4mm difference. I wonder how much electronics help these days?

Do I need to change both tyres?
Good idea but it’s a space saver spare so in the end I’ve ordered a new tyre. It’s so close to new I think it’s worth doing. I imagine only 1 mm difference so hopefully it will be fine.
-
Do I need to change both tyres?
Cheers both. I can get the same tyre and all 4 will be the same brand and model so it sounds like that’s fine in the circumstance with so little wear on the other front.

Do I need to change both tyres?
New to me car has one front tyre at 3 mm and the other front is 7mm so seems previous owner had a recent new tyre on one wheel. I know normally you change both fronts but with the tyre almost new at 7 mm do you think it’s safe to just buy one??? cheers

Damaged glove box front replacement
Hi all my 2018 vrs 245 passenger glovebox has very deep and multiple scratches that I only noticed when I brought it home from the dealer. looking on eBay I can buy a replacement but they all say 2013 to 2018 but looks the same as mine. Is the vrs the same colour as the rest of the range and there a way I can get a part number to check it’s okay? cheers all

No driving mode selection?
This is really odd. I’d agree to ask dealer to show you how to add it. The drive mode selection is really a key part of a vRS As it allows different wait of steering , throttle response and sound and the dealer has sold the car on this basis.

Low frequency 'boom' in cabin
The DEI Boom Mat Spray On Foam Sound Deadening / Noise Reducer likely achieve the same. The trick is changing the resonance frequency with sound dampening/sound absorption which won’t really on the messy foam application. I certainly wouldn’t feel confident with foam as a DIY job but happily apply the alternatives in the places Tonis T describes.

Low frequency 'boom' in cabin
Hi Michael This one has significant sound deadening properties and is fire retardant. Soudal Fire & Acoustic Expanding Foam 600ml B2 As an alternative this may achieve similar properties DEI Boom Mat Spray On Foam Sound Deadening / Noise Reducer - 18oz Aerosol The alternative is to use closed cell sound deadening foam sheets that you cut into strips and likely to be just as effective and less messy. Worth discussing with car sound proofing companies such as the sound deadening shop etc. Henkel Uk distribute the Terason www.carrepairsolutions.co.uk/en/products/body-protection/acoustic/teroson-pu-9500-foam.html

No no no no no 😂

Meteor grey vRS - what colour alloys?
I used to be queasy about black wheels but it’s pretty standard and works so well against the black pack details making the car look harmonised. I don’t think you can go wrong with straight lack on this colour as it’s a lovely contrast. Worse case scenario is you try and then change colour again. I think you will like the black once you see it in the flesh.

PCP ending with 2k equity
Well financially if you can afford to buy outright that’s IMO the best option and then should you want the mark IV next year all your options are open. Any refinance on the car an expensive option .

VRS 19s to 18s or vice-versa
Nope no DCC. Roads were bad too as I wanted to check. We all have different comfort levels but to me if felt better controlled and comfortable compared to my Leon. Much better than my prefacelift which I thought could get a bit rough. I was sold as I’d been a bit unsure until I drove it. What a car it is😀

VRS 19s to 18s or vice-versa
I drove the 245 with 19inch wheels with standard suspension on rough country roads. I was amazed at the ride comfort compared to the same on pre facelift I’d owned and no different to my current Leon Fr on 18 wheels. The 19 look so much better and fill the wheel arches.

2018 VRS 245 DSG test drive hints
Loved the test drive but a deposit was put down on it just as I arrived of which they were very apologetic and immediately found an identical car that’s coming in next week. I am told it’s an April 2018 245 edition rather than a normal 245. The car I tried had fully electric heated seats and front as well as rear sensors. Is this standard spec as I’m confused by different 245 models and can’t find spec sheets for it? cheers

2018 VRS 245 DSG test drive hints
Lovely thanks all for the advice that’s great and I’ll keep this in mind tomorrow. Car was registered in May 2018 so this sounds like it could be free of the gpf but I’ll try and find out.
