  1. I’ve test drove the new Peugeot E 208, I like it’s style, especially the interior! It drives nicely, steering is quite light however it gets a-bit heavier in sports mode. Because of its instant torque it feels fast & road noise is very low. I am thinking about test driving the Citigo IV to compare the difference, as the Citigo is around £19k for the top spec including the grant and the Peugeot is £26k including the grant. Difference should be noticeable, we’ll see!

    1. EV cars become competively priced with existing Petrol cars.

    2. The boffins develop battery technology to get long range at affordable price.

All I ask is: EVs should cost no more than their existing Petrol equivalent & travel the same distance on a full charge as we get out of a full tank of Petrol.

like all new technology, the prices are always ‘way out’ but they’ll eventually come down in price and be competitive. I reckon Tesla will be the first to offer an affordable EV, and to be fair, they’re nearly there with the Model 3 which is the most sought after EV in the UK currently! Price for a Model 3 in the UK could be anywhere between £28k-£32k depending on country taxes / import duties, which really isn’t that bad, especially when the car can be updated over the internet when there’s new firmware (for example, Tesla released an update to all owners which increased battery performance by 5%) -  I don’t recall seeing any other manufacturer doing this!

  3. It’s usually the newer phones which don’t work correctly with the Citigo, it’s like they don’t wanna stay with the times and move on.

I was struggling with the Skoda app for the Citigo (Move & fun app?) with a Samsung S8+, just kept crashing and wouldn’t open the app at all. however the previous Samsung (an S6) connected perfectly and also worked correctly.

I do however think the Citigo would benefit from a touchscreen Infotainment screen, maybe they could use the fabia’s?

    Skoffski,

Another advantage of Petrol powered cars is - I can easily carry 2 gallons of Petrol in the boot of my car just incase I run out of Petrol miles from a garage.

(Highly unlikely I know, infarct it's NEVER happened to me).

Can EV owners carry spare batteries to plug in if they run out miles from a charge point.

    No, of course they can't!

    They are shafted!!!

No, but theoretically speaking, they could carry a generator to charge themselves on the go :D

I know i was driving a brand new Ibiza FR Sport DSG just a few weeks back.

Then i saw it driving behind me with another driver.

Lights up and down slow compared to the road and that was on dipped beam.

Maybe try seeing what your car lights look like as it drives towards you or follows you.

    ?

Has nobody been flashing you or putting full beam on early as they come towards you if you drive country roads?

The odd flash now and again, nothing uncommon, usually end up flashing back, just to make em aware it ain’t full/high beam! Had a Leon follow me, but due to the rear view mirror automatically dimming it didn’t bother me one bit. The lights that annoy me are the SUV LED lights, they don’t seem to have the right beam angle at all, always seem to shine directly into the cabin.

    Not an EV,

just a 1.0 litre  Petrol Hybrid as in the coming soon Ford Fiesta might interest some.

    PS

    Re headlights.

Other than Land Rovers i have never driven a passenger car or van that does not have full beam that can light up the road ahead safely at legal or over legal UK speed limits.

Had plenty with pathetic Dipped Beam as needed to use to not dazzle other road users.

IMO some of the new 'Dipped Beam' lights on cars are a total PITA.  A case of see and what does it matter if other road users are dazzled.

It used to be & still can be badly or illegally modified cars, now it is brand new cars right out of dealerships / off the production line.

Some can be due to no Headlight check at a PDI and the first the badly set lights are picked up on is after 3 years on the road and at a MOT.

LED headlight beam level is automatically set, it works by the load in the boot. It does it every time the ignition is turned on.

I agree, retrofitted or modded LED lights won’t, and they’ll be giving the wrong beam level.

Anybody out their got anything to say on LED headlights.

We all know that Halogen headlights are very much a thing of yesteryear now & in my opinion never ever provide adequate headlight power for night driving.

But then, we had Xenon lighting that provided an extremely penetrating blueish/white beam.

I was very impressed with those.

However, they were extremely short lived on new cars & all manufactures are now changing their lighting to LED headlights.

The motoring press say the beam given off by LED headlights is even superior to  that given off by Xenon headlights.

Is there anybody out there who have owned separate  cars recently fitted with Xenon & LED headlights & can they give use their opinions on both types of lighting, telling us which they believe to be the best type of headlight?

My Ibiza has full LED headlights and they’re far superior to normal halogen lights that my previous Citigo had. They provide a wide beam angle, light up the road very well, enough so that I don’t need to use high beams on unlit roads! I’ll always want a car with full LED headlights from now on. 061A42F3-5950-459A-A595-AAFA4FE23644.thumb.jpeg.e8b26aae708ef71b92ad497aaa82f496.jpeg

I have tried one, I took out the new Mk2 Nissan Leaf on a 20 mile round trip.

I drove very well but still rather disconcerting to observe the range indicator visibly reducing by the minute.

And bear in mind, that's driving probably the most advanced EV family size hatch available on the market.

I’d class the Tesla model 3 as a family car and is way more advanced than the Nissan Leaf. The leaf would come second in my opinion however.

So, you haven't got anything to say about the points I make?

You have NOTHING to say about how Electro car mileage between charges is drastically reduced in Cold Weather due to Electric Batteries being inefficient?

You have NOTHING to say about families in the North of England just living above 'the breadline' not being able to afford to Lease an Electric car costing them £250 out of the weekly budget, or even buy a 2nd hand, 1st generation Electric car costing £12,000 that does 59 miles between charges!

It's all they can do to keep their kids in shoes, a shirt on their back & keep their only luxury, a 8/10 year old Petrol car on the road that's worth £2,000 to £3,000  part ex against another 'old banger'!

Cold weather isn’t a problem for electric cars, they have the technology in them which allows the batteries to heat up while still on charge before you head out, meaning zero loss of charge before you set off on your journey. Just like you set the A/C before you head out, so it’s nice and cool on a summers day or nice and warm for cold winters day - all controlled by your smartphone.

Being someone who loves their technology, I seriously am considering an electric car after the current car finance finishes. A Tesla would suit fine

hello please be patient with me ......
have just nipped over form the yeti section (have a 1.2TSi 2016 outdoor) as the wife is thinking about getting a citigo.
I know nothing about them, we're looking for maybe something 2014/15 petrol
ideally she wants a reverse camera, low RFL tax, any tips or advice/warnings ?
are they all with timing belt as opposed to timing chain ?
    many thanks

Hi! As far as I’m aware, the Citigo doesn’t have an option for reversing camera, nor front parking sensors. However, you can get rear parking sensors as a fitted option which also shows on the centre radio screen when reverse gear is engaged.

upto a 66 plate Citigo you’ll have £20/£30 road tax

DAB radio is worth it if you use it

auto lights / wipers is a nice comfort feature.

My citigo was (still might be) for sale in North Yorkshire - you’d find it on autotrader with a dealership in Seamer ;)

  11. Traded the Citigo in for an Ibiza. The difference is amazing, road noise is pretty much non existent!!

I’ll still be around to help anyone out with tech issues related to the Citigo if any should arise!

  12. Yeah as @sportq says, most likely be the rear shock absorbers - check for leaks, check rubber mounts & you could try bouncing the car on that corner, to see if it “absorbs” the bounce.

...With it being a knocking noise which is happening occasionally, it sounds more like a perished rubber mount.

a question for Citigo owners as in a subject line:

    AUTOLIGHTS function Stock vs Afermarket.

    Please share Your findings.

Im asking as I have retrofited them to my Citigo. Mainly, I decided for this mod because of Coming Home/Leaving Home feature. I just find it cool. As You may expect, I bought one from AliExpress. Didnt cost a fortune, so if they wont work properly - I wont cry over spilled milk. First of all, fitting. It is plug&play altough the way chinese unit fit is a bit questionable i.e. bit loose or not 100% round. Luckily for me, I have received one with green backlighting - oh well, it is a fairly different shade of green :wondering: After Enabling relevant feature under VCDS - configuring aftermarket unit is a bit of a fiddle by turning knob back and forth. To be honest, apart of reseting the unit i did  NOT manage to set anything as desired. My goal was, to have dipped beam used for CH/LH possibbly together with fog lights not to mention about the duration for how long the lights remain on...

Maybe Im doing something wrong and Im not following the chinese-english instruction properly?

How CH/LH feature work on the factory fitted citigo's? Anyone?

I’ve factory fitted auto lights on my Citigo and what I do is leave it on auto all the time. This means CH/LH works every time.

When i unlock the car and it senses light levels are low it’ll put the headlights on for approximately 15-30secs

if you want it to do it when LH you have to leave the left stalk push back (as though your leaving high beams on) for it to work.

Thanks! So glad I've speeced this love having a digital speed readout. Has it got a set of buttons on the right-hand side or do you change it on the actual binnacle button?

    It’s on the right stalk.

    Coolant temp

    engine temp

    speedo

    range

    miles

    consumption

just to name afew of the different “modes”

Strange coincidence...I ordered an Ibiza early October and specified March delivery...and they said "that SHOULD be possible".

What build week did they specify for you? I was originally given week 3 for build and week 5/6 for delivery. Now it’s turned out to be week 5 built with delivery week 7/8 - pick it up on the new 19 plate week 9.

That's one hell of a long wait! I'd be having major itchy feet right now!

Sure is! Estimated delivery was today, but unfortunately didn’t go to plan!

That's the lead time they're looking at at the moment but have said it could be later, in no huge rush but hopefully, all goes to plan!

Wow! Skoda’s fast! I ordered an Ibiza mid October and it’s only just been built today. Delivery 1st March for the new 19 plates.

I've put a deposit down on my Citigo today, hoping for mid-March delivery! Was going to go for 60ps but they did the same price for 75ps, got a great deal.

Roll on March!  Thanks for all the advice!

That a factory order? If so that’s a very good lead time!!
