  1. I'm looking to replace my MIB2 Amundsen screen with a MIB2 Columbus (5E0919606) I've seen a screen on ebay but the item description states "Only screen, no frame". Would I need a frame for this replacement, or will I have one from my existing Amundsen?
  2. My car's in the dealership getting this issue fixed today - £250 for the microswitch replacement. Apparently not every gearbox is compatible with the switch replacement, there are some that do need the unit replacing for a much higher price.
  3. From what I read the supersports are an ultra-high performance road tyre intended for Golf GTI / BMW M3 type level performance cars. There are higher level tyres (Supersport R and RS) which are even higher level and from what I can tell almost a trackday tyre, however the normal Supersport is very much a road tyre. Had they been £20 more than an Asymmetric 5 I wouldn't have bothered, but they were actually about £2 per tyre cheaper.
  4. I found the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport slightly cheaper than the Asymmetric 5 a couple of months ago when I needed new tyres. The Supersport is a newer, higher perfomance tyre so I was surprised that it was cheaper. I've been happy with the performance so far, although I haven't exactly been pushing it to the limits.
  5. Thanks, I had assumed the lines came from the head unit (as there is no way of sending the steering wheel to the camera) but that makes sense. I'll stick with the static lines for now.
  6. I've got my camera fitted now, and the image is great. I've noticed that the distance lines on the screen don't move as you turn the steering wheel though as they do on my wife's Volvo - they always point straight up. Is this normal on the Skoda system or is there some additional coding that I need to do?
  7. sounds good to me - I checked that they had the right tools to program, and have made a note of which coding blocks to change in case he needs a point in the right direction!
  8. Thanks for the recommendation - I've seen so many kits available so good to know this one works well. I've just placed an order myself, I'm not brave enough to tear apart my car myself (and don't have VCDS) so I'm paying a local auto electrician £60 to fit and code for me.
  9. I've taken my Octavia to France a couple of times. The lights on the VRS can be adjusted through the menu system for right or left side driving, there's no need for reflectors. Crit'Air sticker is only for certain areas of France, but Paris is one of them. For €3.62 it's worth buying one just in case you want to go into a Crit'Air zone. https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en I also found it very useful to set my digital speed display to KPH.
  10. I wouldn't get a dealer to do this, go to a towbar company instead. Westfalia get very good reviews, they will also be able to code the ECU for towbar use. A quick quote from their website suggest £609 to supply and fit. https://shop.westfalia-automotive.com/
  11. I'd have to drive a VAQ and non-VAQ car alongside each other to properly tell, but it supposedly greatly reduces understeer. It's not just an emergency thing, but sends more torque to the outside wheel during cornering etc. If you're going for higher power, I'd suggest getting a car with the VAQ.
  12. The engines all remap to similar levels, but only the PFL 230 and FL 245 have the VAQ diff, which might be of interest if you're looking for higher power and performance.
  13. Sadly nothing - when I mentioned it to my dealer they told me they had applied a firmware update, but it does still happen occasionally. My workaround to stop my music being interfered with is to set the maxidot display to something other than music information.
  14. Is that the normal handle size? I'd be tempted to do this mod, but don't feel up to taking a dremel to my car!
