  1. Sorry to read of your issues and hopefully you'll get a fair solution to this very unsatisfactory situation soon that'll allow you to trust and enjoy driving what I and many others believe are a great car. Fingers crossed for you STEMAC
  2. Just checking belt n braces question 🙂 ApertureS is right, time get it scanned for codes and hopefully you'll get a good lead as to what the issue is. If you don't have one, maybe consider getting a HEX -V2 or-NET device and get associated VCDS installed, great for diagnosing issues and also for lots of other maintenance jobs and other tweaks too. Good luck, let us know how it goes please?
  3. Did you try a second different key, does it exhibit same issue?
  4. We had similar issues on our previous S3, there is a simple reset of the seat memory module using VCDS that sorted it. If you don't have it then it's worth getting, if not ask about on forum for someone local to you that would be willing to do it for beer tokens 😉 it,
  5. A couple of suggestions to try before chasing possible ghosts in the various CAN, LIN & other buses: If you have not done it recently, (last 4 years, or possibly less if car has start/stop), get and replace it with a new good quality battery (AGM needed for start/stop) - I've had similar problems in the past which were cleared up with a new battery. Also, maybe fully disconnect the dash cam and tow bar modifications, temporarily to aid diagnosing your fault On top of the 2 suggestions above. I'd invest in a HEX -V2 or-NET device and get associated VCDS installed - super useful for diagnosing issues and all sorts of other tweaks become possible. Good luck and let us know how you get on please 🙂
  6. Cheers John! Great to meet you earlier and thanks for the easy transaction. Mick
  7. Ours suffers occasionally with same symptoms, and originally only after swapping from my wifes to my driving position (She is 5 foot 2 & I'm 6 foot 3), but never after changing from mine to hers. I have captured video & scans of it occurring and the list of error codes is horrendous and hits almost all systems making it pretty much impossible to tie down to 1 ecu on any of the many affected sub-systems. Now it is starting to happen when I make a minor adjustment to my seat position whilst driving. For our issue, my thoughts are that its an issue with the under seat harnesses or one of the several components or ECU's under there. So once we get back from our hol's in Italy in a week or so I'm going to have a careful poke around among the under seat harnesses to see if I can force the failure and hopefully get some direction to solving it. Will let you know if I get anywhere.
  8. Update on this topic: Adblue injector replaced by local Skoda/VW/SEAT garage & covered by insurance (518 CHFs), adblue range displayed as 15000KM - all good for 6 weeks :-) Then last weekend after only doing 250 KM's I got the "Error: AdBlue (DEF). No engine start in 1000km" message. I looked under bonnet and replaced parts cable was chewed through again!! Luckily the insurance came good again and covered repair at another 518 CHFs and will not increase my renewal cost this time. You can get ultrasonic rodent repellent devices but they can upset all the local wildlife and we have a dog so don't want to do that so have now cleaned out the garage and will be parking Superb in it, in future. What I find odd is that we have a 2007 Land Rover Freelander 2 which has also always been parker next to Superb in the past and has never suffered an animal attack. Not sure why - more use of recycled plastics in newer car maybe? Any insights or thoughts from the community please?
  9. Brilliant inspectorman, Thank you - very much appreciated! I have this kind of damage covered on my insurance (martins are the usual suspects) so hopefully get it sorted soon
  10. Thanks and sorry I should have said, I tried full number F01C410125150508103509c but google says "Your search - F01C410125150508103509c - did not match any documents."
  11. Hello to all, I have the air quality sensor failure issue so went to take a look but noticed that an animal of some kind has chewed through some other cables and their sleeving in engine bay of 2.0 TDI 190. If I can ask you to take a look at the photos i've included, I'd really appreciate any &all help identify what the part is please? Thanks in advance :-)
  12. Hi All, After updating iPhone 7 late last week I've been having same issue, just seen that there is another IOS 13.xx update available now so will try update tonight and try pairing in car tomorrow
  13. @Zenbasses no worries man, i'm also well ready for the weekend! @RK5 Not an easy situation situation - I take it it is out of warranty? I was lucky, I bought it from a Skoda dealer and they gave me an addition years warranty. The good thing is that its happening often I guess, so it should display the issue often. I made videos of it each time it happened and also made a date time log to back it up. Skoda really should bear cost of the update/fix as it is a reasonably common & well documented problem across the whole range of their cars with these kind of screens, but I can imagine they'll try to get you to pay. If they won't fix it for free then maybe contact SKoda UK and try them, they have been known to help out sometimes. Good luck!
  14. @Zenbasses Not sure if you missed it but my issue was sorted long ago in Feb 2017: @RK5 I don't see where you are located, what's the temperature when you experience the issue? Before the SW update it was happening around freezing and below. What month & year was your car built? Maybe look at and post a screenshot of the SW/HW details displayed in the System Information screen?
  15. Hi All, So its more than 2 & 1/2 years since the software update and not a single re-occurrence of the non-responsive touchscreen. The 0848 build was produced by Skoda Engineers and applied via a disk update at the dealers, unfortunately I wasn't allowed a copy of the code files. @Zenbasses I very rarely connect phone via USB unless we're doing a long European trip or driving back to the UK and never had it connected when the issue happened, so no not a phone interfacing issue, the issue was definitely caused by low temperatures. In a previous job I worked for Denso on the SatNav & infotainment systems units and in car integration for PAG (Premium Auto Group - Jaguar, Land Rover & Volvo) + Ford, Toyota & Saab vehicles. The early head units (available tech 10+ years back) all suffered to various degrees with responsiveness issues until the screen & other calibration constants were finalised, this would sometimes go up to and beyond launch depending if enough units had been produced and enough being properly tested in all conditions. Hope this answers your queries.
  16. Traffic reporting system is a standard called TMC, in UK it is piggy-backed on Classic FM and unfortunately its only as good as the latest data updates and how long they are persistent/remain active - nothing to do with the Skoda head unit: Take a look: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic_message_channel#United_Kingdom
  17. ACC on my Superb in Switzerland has a top limit of 160KMH, motorway top speed is 120KMH. I find that the slow down/braking & acceleration rates when in fast moving traffic is much smoother in comfort mode also aided by use of a longer distance setting from the car in front also allows the ACC algorithm to use engine braking more effectively before the need for it to use the brakes.
  18. In Switzerland there is a specific clause for rodent damage to internal components, when I first saw it on the insurance form I thought it a bit strange so asked and it seemed it is a common issue by all accounts (particularly martens). So jump forward a couple of years to when we moved into our new home and a short while after one of the turbo hose gnawed into by a marten of some kind late last year on our Superb, very please I did tick the specific box on the insurance form!
  19. Hi FixxaH, I have the 190bhp diesel SCR DSG and have not had this problem myself and I'm sure if any forum members had had this issue then it would have been posted about already. A quick trawl on the net turned up this: "My new Skoda Superb 2.0ltr diesel has an Adblue tank and after 4000 miles of economical driving (54 mpg) the warning light came on. I therefore filled the tank and expected the light and mileage warning to go out - oh no. The car has been with the dealer and Skoda Technical for 5.5 weeks and still it is off the road. Don't buy a car fitted with this technology." May not be of much help but came from this UK site: https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/company-car-tax-advice/news/drivers-warned-over-diesel-exhaust-fluid-refill-3/ Seems you are doing better than the guy who posted on honestnjohn as you still have your motor! Good luck with the dealers to get it sorted.
  20. I agree with Penguin, winter tyres M&S (or good all seasons) make a huge difference in grip due to compound performance at low temperatures and the tyres ability to get rid of ice and snow via the additional multiple narrow slots in the tread: , From personal experience even a 4x4 with Summer tyres will have real problems in cold temperatures in relatively small depths of snow. As well as our 190 dsg 4x4 L&K Superb estate we run a Land Rover Freelander 2 which is very capable in most circumstances we've encountered. But once returning from Italy over the Alps early in Summer after changing back to summer tyres we got caught in a dump of snow and had to pull over and wait for a few hours until it was cleared as taking some of the hairpin bends even at very low speed was too much of a risk with the family and dog in the LR. In the UK I never used winter tyres but since moving to Switzerland and encountering some pretty extreme conditions I'm a real convert.
  21. Hi there, In Feb 2017 I bought a 2015 Superb 190 Diesel DSG L&K estate first registered here in Switzerland in Oct 15 which was a Skoda dealer manager's car. From your list the only one I've had done is the head unit software upgrade for same reason as you - dealer responded very quickly as touchscreen non-responsive at cold temperatures - which happens a lot here :-) I have not had a single occurrence of it being non-responsive since the update to software version 0848 in Feb 2017 - I would be really interested to know what the software version was after your update please? I agree with the others here, it sounds like you picked up a "Beta" early build version, going back a few years when I worked at Denso in the UK the early build cars (Jag's, LR's & Volvo's) always required additional follow up attention and occasionally we were even required to support at dealers to get to the bottom of problems. I hope your luck improves with the car or alternately perhaps you could sell it on and use the funds to buy a later build Superb or any other motor you may fancy.
  22. Hi SwissRob, I agree with a lot of what you're saying above and it's good to link up with a fellow expat in CH! A good while back I worked at Denso in Coventry for a good while where we looked after the SatNav & Infotainment systems that went into Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Saab & some Ford vehicles. The time, effort & cost taken to eliminate problems including the phrasing and pronunciation mistakes was huge. The various SatNav systems cores software were based on the code from Japanese systems however the UK local team of Systems, Software, Voice and Test Engineers modified/tested the upper code levels to be compliant to the appropriate UK manufacturers vehicle specifications. We put massive effort into this both in the labs and in real & test vehicles on the road with generally good outcomes in English - not sure about how good the translations where in other languages but we did use foreign language natural speakers to do validation work - I think this step may have been missed when creating the VAG system. I tend to drive the Superb with the sound off when using SatNav but have noticed issues when it was turned on. As well as you question about how good it^s phrasing sounds/works in other languages I would also like to know if the same issues occur in Audi, VW & Seat with the same system fitted, if yes then VAG are being very lazy if no and specific to Skoda then maybe its Skoda being cheap :-)
