  1. In simple terms: Do not set your phones to automatically switch on bluetooth which will pair with the car once fired up. Decide which phone you wish to use then turn it's bluetooth on manually to avoid getting it wrong.
  2. No change in rpm when my DPF is regenerating, not sure if a Skoda is the same though.
  3. NB: Service level & main agent in the same sentence, not often that happens! My local independant (5 min walk from home) charges me £40ph, the main stealer (25 min drive from home) is £65ph, guess who I use? I've always thought Skoda to be superior to Vauxhall in this class of car, just a shame Skoda don't make an alternative to the Zafira type of mini mpv (not the Roomster it's too small), I'd certainly buy 1 then!
  4. I never switch my boot light on, it's how I top up my food cupboard weekly with the 'dropsies' from the punters at Asda lol.
  5. I hoped they used 'skates' when they recovered it then! As Fordfan said, I presume there will be some kind of manual overide, sure 1 of our regular Skoda mechanics will pop up to inform us!
  6. Just my 2p worth, would anyone buy a car of this type/cost without seeing the colour in the flesh? Different for me, I can only have White but to choose a colour from a swatch seems just 'wrong' to me.
  7. I always make sure I don't restart the engine with the lights on, pull onto rank, switch down to sidelights, move up rank 12 times in an hour, finally get a fare then with engine on switch back up to dipped beam, changed 2 dips & 1 main in 14 months so far!
  8. Just a quick thought, is the a/c on? Have known the revs to be irregular on idle if the climate control is doing its bit!
  9. Apologies, that was me, I'm not a Skoda owner at the moment so unaware of the exact terminology!
  10. Changed my last spare H7 yesterday & need to buy some more today, might well pop along to my local factors & see what they can offer but the BOGOF seems tempting!
  11. If you can prove you placed your order as a result of being told the vehicle has hill start as a standard feature, then the vehicle is delivered minus this aspect, you can reject the vehicle as being 'unfit as described' which is different to 'unfit for purpose'. In laymans terms: If you are sold a light bulb which the salesman states 'will light up your kitchen' then you get home but find it doesn't 'light up the corner' but the bulb is in fact working correctly you can return it as described above. Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979, the goods should be:- - Of satisfactory quality - Fit for their purpose - As described You have proven the 'as described' was not adhered to so there 'should' be no problem rejecting the vehicle. As said before, take it back, leave it with the dealer so you are not at risk of damage & not adding any mileage to the claim. I was hoping 1 of our resident dealers might have offered an opinion on this topic, James where are you? Sale of Goods Act Quick Facts - BERR is also worth a read, I wonder if I've been here before?
  12. Is the car 'fit for purpose' as ordered? Unfortunately yes as hill hold was NOT specified, an expensive error however misleading the salesman was. If it were me I would not relent as it seems to be 1 of the major reasons you purchased that particular model, I would return the car to the dealers with a letter stating your intentions to seek further avice before making your decision. The SMMT UK motor industry Consumer advice, Regulation and Compliance Unit, Customer Services Committee, Mechanical Breakdown Insurance Committee, Vehicle Safety Defects has some very helpful advice on their website, well worth a read!
  13. Had my dpf replaced at 23,000 miles, the joys of 95% urban motoring! Glad I didn't pay the bill, cost Kia UK £2k!
  14. Do the maths at 45k a year on 95% urban cycle then I'll be even more interested!
  15. Slightly off topic! Spoke to an owner driver last night with a 1.8t Passat (05reg) & he gets 24mpg as a cab, just about what I imagined him to get & some way behind my 30+, both are manuals so with the DSG (just to get somewhere back ot!) you would lose at least 4mpg on predominantly urban work. Yes the DSG/Auto has a comfort benefit & I would never deny that but as a business proposition I couldn't afford 1, well not til I'm 60 & semi retired anyway! PS: My mileage to 1 year old on my Carens was just over 40k with year 2 expected to be higher as I have a part time driver for weekends now, it doesn't take much to work the maths out to see why petrol/DSG/Auto doesn't work for me!
  16. As GK said above, don't pay for them but make sure you get them as part of the 'closure' to the deal. I would not have a car without front mud flaps, the muck that gets generated up underneath & also into the door sills is way worse without them.
  17. Hope you get on better than I did, the mirror meter I tried was awful, for several reasons but worst of all the front seat passenger couldn't see it!
  18. IMHO how about simple 'driveability'. I would not go back to petrol through choice, as a high mileage user it has to be diesel for me. I prefer the torque & general characteristics of a diesel, especially when towing. You will never end the petrol/diesel debate, no matter how hard you try, just be happy with your personal choice! PS: Will the poster who constantly knocks diesels please desist, it really has no place on this forum, your entitled to your opinion but not to constantly mock those of us who choose an alternative, thanks!
  19. The later models with 138bhp are a completely different kettle, I have 1 of each & even though I've remapped my Mk2 up to 140bhp it's still nowhere near as nice to drive as the Mk3. Thanks for the heads up though, think that's probably enough about Kias on here, we may get shot lol.
  20. Was this on a pre or post 2006 car? The pre 06's were pants, gearbox was a well known fault, the post 06's are a completely different setup + I have a 100k warranty & intend to get rid of before that!
  21. It's not an ideal solution but put the seat to its lowest setting & right back before entering & exiting, less wear that way, as for how long is suitable I can't comment!
  22. Regular complaint amongst the cabbies down here along with the DSG boxes failing around 60k miles. Just for your interest the DMF failed on my Kia Carens at 30k so it's not just Skodas with the problem however Kia gave me £600 compensation for my downtime, something that Skoda never offered me during my ownership of 3 Octys!
  23. My original Octy had a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty, I've always questioned why SUK removed that, they sold a hell of a lot of Octys to the cab trade just on that alone!
