  1. I know this had been covered so many times with no real answer I've been told it's only the Miltek that makes the noise due to the downpipe design however some people say it's due to decat and back box delete, I have both to go on the car and want to know if it should make the noise... some hate it some love it but it's the closest we're going to get to turbo chatter on a diesel.. apart from the VKLR boys
  2. Sorry for the lack of replies. Correct the car did sell and not to me! However i have bought a standard 2004 Fabia VRS in Black well I say standard.. 24 hours after I bought it I already whipped an S2000 Filter on it and bought an exhaust system + decat. I'm glad I bought a standard example now as it reminded me how much I enjoy making a car my own and not someone else's... today I found out how much of a bastid the downpipe bolts are from the turbo and how hard it is to remove standard system!
  3. The car sold today for 2200!! Surprised me to be honest! Now onto the next one!
  4. Yeah mods don't add value; if I ever sold the 106 (never would now) then I would split it to make the money back.. opposed to trying to sell as a whole. Like I said apart from the shell the car is no longer a 106 really. I would like to go from scratch but it's the cost more than anything on a daily
  5. Oh no I understand exactly what your both saying! I attend a lot of car shows throughout the year. The VRS will be a daily/show car where as the 106 is built for purpose ... all 10k I've chucked into it are for a reason, however to get the VRS to the level I want I will be spending quite a lot which isn't too much of an issue as will mainly be visual mods with the odd power increase just so I don't downgrade too much power wise from the 106, as even stage 1 fabias I do leave standing, so at standard form I can imagine myself getting very bored very quick.. the reason I say about the 2260 the short time I knew the fella he did tend to exaggerate or porky quite a bit.. which I completely forgot about until I got reminded think I am going to leave it purely because the guy coming to look at it tomorrow is gonna go two ways, if he shows and takes it, car is gone, if he shows and doesn't take it, why didn't he take it?.. "Standard" VRS is fine although I would really like one that's been mapped as it saves a bit more money!
  6. I think it was a 2260 not 2269.. never heard of anyone running a 2269 without a hell of a lot of work! And his budget isn't that high lol
  7. Rebate has arrived... VRS time!! Shame there's none standing out to me apart from this one! what would people offer for this car if they was in the situation.. now the big turbo comments are worrying me lol however it was was run on low boost with injectors for correct fueling etc
  8. Thanks for your kind words guys! yeah that's what I'm waiting for.. see if the guy takes it could end up a blessing in disguise if he does or doesn't. The visual side of the car is what's really drawing me in as it looks really smart! I'm fussy! I've currently got a red car and it winds the s#@t out of me.. lacquer peel is the worst! Ideally I'm afte black, the Mrs has a 220bhp R53 JCW Mini Cooper S with the Aero kit but she's gone for the stealth black on black look and when it's clean it's very very smart, best colour IMO... which obviously reflects on the price!! Seems the black ones (with exception of the LE Blue) fetch the most money i know buying a modified car is usually a no go, I sort of know the fella he was part of a car club I'm a part of for a while, would hope he wouldn't rip me off which makes life a bit easier knowing the guy, all the black ones on the market seem to be around the 2k+ mark and most around the 150k miles mark too, if I was buying a standard example I wouldn't want to spend that much so I got some spare cash for mods
  9. This is what I'm trying to come to the conclusion over.. he reckons someone is coming to look at it tomorrow for 2200.. this will certainly tell as if he walks away most likely I would too! I'm waiting for my tax rebate to be paid in this week for the car hence why I haven't got it yet, was only going to to look at the car once the money is in my pocket opposed to looking/wanting not having the money and potentially loosing. If it's a dog walk away, simple as. The comments about the VKLR worrys me as could potentially have internal engine damage .. if I know the engine is sound I will buy the car, but I'm trying to get as much knowledge as possible so I'm armed when I go look at it. So from the people on here, 2k is too high yes? Aim for around 1500 if everything is okay?
  10. he's just come back to me saying the FSH is covered upto 170k miles which is a good thing I guess meaning for 170k it's been relatively looked after!
  11. Sorry mate your right, my mistake! Should check before I post yes thats very true... is there any way of noticing a cracked piston etc without tearing the engine apart? Any tell tale signs etc? As for the head gasket I will do what you said regarding the pipe squeeze and filler cap!
  12. To the guy who said about having the high lift cam etc for the turbo.. after further investigation it does seem like he had the lot! So looks like no expense was actually spared for the big turbo ... found photos of manifold, inlet, cams etc. So looks like he done the job fairly properly, if I'm honest I've been friends with him on Facebook for some time and haven't seen him venting about the Skoda causing issues etc ever! So could genuinely be because he has bought the A4 he wants rid, hopefully that's the case anyway! He managed to get sponsored by a company fairly local called Tune Automotive who done all the work on the car, which leads me to believe it should of been fairly looked after through it's life as if it's one of their cars they would want the car done properly to showcase it, if you get what I mean?
  13. Thankyou sepulchrave ill most definitely make sure I do that!! Anything else i should be looking looking out for? I'm new to world of diesel but is it possible to see mayo under the oil cap like the petrols when the head gasket is going? May seem like a silly question but I want to check 11 points out of 10 to make sure I'm not buying a dog! To be honest I have seen by his Facebook he's replaced quite a few parts on the car for genuine parts.. E.G genuine Skoda lower arms/bushes etc which is nice to see, I believe the VRS' do have problems with the P Bush but he's replaced them with genuine items which is always good.. most people settle for pattern parts and not OEM parts which is always a plus to see!
  14. So the idle being lumpy when cold could be internal engine damage? Ideally like you said needs to be driven.. what sort of things am I looking/listening for? As I don't want to buy a paperweight!! Looks visually smart though! But that means nothing. I know He's done all the work himself it was a standard example when he bought it.. Facebook trawling
  15. I might offer him low money 1300-1500 and see what he says, if not walk... worse comes to worse could easily make my money back on parts but 2k is steap considering! yeah that's the one vklr are ball bearing that's what he said, he did defiantly have the nozzles and stuff but recently sold them as I saw him selling them on his Facebook page! The head etc I'm not so sure about! Shame as it ticks all the boxes in what I want spec wise the correct wheels and the look of the car is exactly what I want my fabia to look like.. just one already done saves a lot of time and most importantly money!
  16. Not too bad actually ... Company's like flux/sky etc are pretty reasonable with all the mods sometimes works out cheaper than a standard example if you look for a modified car insurer! The 106 is exactly the same I pay 700 a year; 7 years NCB and 7 years held, however they are expensive to insure as there's a GTi badge on the car
  17. Is that common on these then is it? Will it be the plug that's cross threaded or the sump? If it's the plug not too much of an issue as I can replace for a couple of quid but don't fancy retapping the sump and risk getting swarf in the sump
  18. That's correct he did have a big turbo on it, he said it was GTB2269 VKLR for the last 8k miles but took it off as the turbo is going on his Audi, I have no idea what the flashing brake resistor is for I did think the exact same So the standard clutch; what can that happily take without slipping and too much stress? A remap? Hybrid turbo + map? Or is a remap your sort of limit for the standard clutch/DMF?
  19. I know exactly what you mean which is why I've posted on here.. i asked him him about the banging hard cut, as it sounds chavvy he sent a video and it's the banging From the exhaust as it hits the hard cut, it's quite a loud hard cut limiter. It was mapped by derv tec, I thought they offered decent maps? The only thing I'm worried about is buying a standard example getting it mapped to like 189 like this car is and the clutch starts slipping where as with the helix this car has fitted 3 weeks ago I know I'll have no bother, how do the standard clutches fair up against remaps? What's the max BHP I could get out the standard clutch without issues? Say I went for hybrid in the future etc? I dis think that about the loom and crank sensor like why did he buy them but not put them on the car? Why are they included.. but tonne honest I do overthink things my old man has drummed that into me!.. is 190bhp the sort of max your get out the standard turbo with a map then? Looking on ebay all the black Fabias are around the 2k+ mark with the odd exception as standard form.. hard decision
  20. Yeah I understand what you mean, he has owned the car for the past year and half, he's had a baby so bought an Audi A4 B7 for more room and a bit of an "upgrade" he was running the GTB2269VKLR turbo (think that's what it was called) for a few weeks then decided he wanted the A4. If I post the spec list on here would you guys comment if 2k is worth paying or give me a guide line on what I should aim to pay? Spec: Fabia vrs No swaps!! £2000 if gone by next Friday!! 21. Not what I'm looking for at all; I'm looking for genuine advice. Obviously I'll be parting with the best part of 2k for a high mileage VRS, the reason I posted was to see how these engines fair with high miles. i was looking at spending 2k on a VRS but it's purely a daily which I will modify; the parts this car has on it I would like to do if I bought a standard example obviously costing me alot of money that I want to be putting onto the track car opposed to the daily. The only thing I probably would change about this particular fabia engine wise would be a larger turbo apart from that everything else has already been done. i didn't want to jump the gun and spend 2k for a car whos engine that lasts 200k before serious issues are prone to happen, I'm merely stabbing in the dark with these cars as I know literally nothing about them, hence why I came over for the advice on here. It's good to get feedback from more experienced owners of these cars instead of jumping the gun and buying a 3 legged racehorse and have a better idea of what I'm getting. Like I said I will need to look at the car in person to make a judgement based upon seeing the car in the flesh and trying to knock him down which obviously I will be doing. dont get me wrong I really want the car, just the mileage threw me off a tad! If im honest no "hot hatch" top of the line variety will of been driven carefully. My GTi for example, it lives in the redline on the track, I rebuilt the engine over xmas period as it decided 30psi of compression was the way to go and chopped and change every part on the car since I have owned it back in Jan 2014. It seems these PD130 engines are bulletproof to a sense. Last thing I want to do is buy a standard example, get it mapped (probably one of the first things I do) then have to part with a huge amount to replace the clutch if it starts slipping due to the extra torque etc - after having 8 boxes and 9 clutches over 3 years in the GTi it's fair to say I've had enough of changing them lol. Anyone who's familiar with the MA gearboxes they are made of chocolate and tend to go bang quite frequently. Sorry about the essay but I'm not after anyone to put me off as such but more to put my mind at rest before parting with 2k and someone says jeez your brave 180k miles etc etc
  22. He's told me the wheel bearing needs replacing aswell as sump plug as weeping.. not too much of an issue but realistically how much should I pay for this car? 2k is bloody high .. mods don't add value etc
  23. Short journeys are the killer mate, I drive 6 mile round trip to and from work, and it just drinks! But it's uncomfortable now for the road and the roads are so bad it's ruining everything; 2k is a bit strong correct I will try and drag him down on the price or walk away especially with that mileage but it's got all the mods etc that I will be wanting to do to it in the future so in reality saves me money in the long run!
  24. So it's worth a go? Or at least a look?
  25. The 106 has a single seat, satchshift cage and a dash.. no sound deadening no interior carpets/trim etc and returns roughly 15mpg, I'm currently running it on the road as a daily as it's silly and I've simply had enough of it; it will still be used on the track but I'm after more comfort and certainly more MPG hence going down the VRS route!
