Skoda Fabia 1.4 MPI possible Driveshaft issue?
Ah brillitant, Thanks for the info lee very helpful! So, that link that you sent me for ebay it looks to already have a new nut included. I've just watched a few videos on youtube, and its doesn't look too bad famous last words.. update: right, I've ordered both these, the joint kit and the braket with those 3 bolts, also a cv joint puller off amazon, I'm hoping my clic r type pliars will do the job for the ring clamps. I might as well do it the same time i do my discs & pads(there here waiting), I've just looked in my socket set (halfords advanced 150 piece) and it does contain that 12 side socket and the walls look thin ish, if its too big ill buy a 2nd one, i aint grinding my kit :P lol thanks again, updates to follow, photos, as i do the job.

Skoda Fabia 1.4 MPI Rough Idle!
Slightly off topic, I wonder if I'll get away without doing this too, as only 1 fan, and no AC, On a positive note them breather pipes seem to have done the trick, it's idling lovely now, I'm guessing it's because the large one was blocked, seems slightly poker too. Not sure if I mentioned it but got one for £25 on carparts4less

Skoda Fabia 1.4 MPI possible Driveshaft issue?
Hello all, only me, again... Right so i figured i'd try and line up my next issue, basically I was driving home from work around a month ago or so, and I noticed this knocking noise, when turning right I would say, Like a clicking, knocking noise? It sounded like it was coming from the back passenger side to me, anyway the wife took it to the garage that morning on her way shopping for them to take a look, (they took it round the block) they reckon it was the LH drive shaft, and quoted around £240, however when she brought it back and I went to work that night it didn't sound as bad, and on the way home this noise dissapeared, now my wife reckons it's back again, intemittently when turning she says, and she reckons its coming from the front left, I am still driving the car to work, and i have not heard it since.. so, does this sound like a driveshaft to you guys? if yes, is it something that needs sorting asap or will it wait? also, any ideas of the driveshaft part number as i cant seem to find it on autocarpart or carparts4less, and eBay all parts listed are showing not to fit my car. update: just spoke to the wife and she reckons, if you turn the wheel all the way to the right hard lock when turning, it will happen again, i'll give it a try on the way to work tonight shes pretty worried to drive it, so it's something I'm going to have to prioritize. also it's only happening when coming to a turning. one again many thanks for all the help!

Excellent, much appreciated, many thanks ! I didn't actually take the inside panel off, as I didn't need to, so I didn't break the seal. Also I noticed my speaker as also popped. Doh

Fabia mk1,Manual Door Locking
Brillitant, looks nice and easy, Hey Lee, you wouldn't happen to know the size of the top grub screw would you? the top one T20, Like a plonker I went too far and let mine fall inside the door. you can buy them on ebay not sure what M size it is though, i could take the passenger side out and measure it but i run the risk of loosing 2 or am I possibly looking at a search & rescue operation? or do I just pretend that i never lost it and its all good, argh! this will bother me, athough I know the 2nd screw under is more then enough to keep it in! haha also it you were right the panel is bolted not riveted, not sure why i thought it was O_o Thanks

Fabia mk1,Manual Door Locking
ah cheers mate, well anyhow it turns out that its not the internal lock issue, but the actual lock barrel as siezed, so going to return the lock i brought, and i've just ordered a lock barrel repair kit, see how that goes. Anyone had any luck with these? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Door-Lock-Repair-Kit-Front-Fits-Skoda-Fabia-Mk1-1-4-5-YEAR-WARRANTY/174017453798?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 I know I could buy 2 new lock cylinders, but I really dont want an extra key.

Rear wheel bearing.
Ah right ok I thought they were like universal kits, sorry. When I googled it, looked like a toolbox with all different sizes. Looking at that part the outer diameter is 72mm, and a width of 82mm, wonder if this as anything to do with which kit you get.. I'd too be interested if anyone knows a cheap kit that'll work for this car.

Rear wheel bearing.
Think TMB said you need a Gen 2 bearing tool kit to get the front ones off, the back hubs just tap off with a hammer. Something else I'd like to buy..

Skoda Fabia 1.4 MPI Rough Idle!
do you mean the radiator fan switch? - I think I had a leak there before, its on the other side, where the electrical cable plugs in, it's dry as a bone that side now.. there is nothing down that side I don't think, it feels as if the fins are rusted I'm guessing the head gasket had been gone for a couple of years judging by the state of the water in the system, maybe this contributed to letting the radiator erode?

Skoda Fabia 1.4 MPI Rough Idle!
Well I've just changed them both, When taking the big one off the rocker cover, the metal hole was rammed full of black soot, like coal, so that's done, see if it makes a difference, not started it yet. also... I've just noticed the coolant as gone from max to min, over a week ! no cream in the oil cap, but upon running my fingers across the bottom of the radiator I have a leak, at the bottom left if your looking from the front of the car, where the metal fins meet the plastic, its not a lot but if defiantly explains where that little bit went, oh well, there's another job I've got to do, I'm gonna save my coolant this time because that was expensive! - is it an easy job ? just undo the hoses and it pulls right out? , it really is never ending, I've never had a car with this many problems lol :/ the £'s are well adding up. I'm fully committed now . Bah!

Rear wheel bearing.
Yes mate new out the box there is play, not sure after the nut was torqued, it was a long time ago .. Think they came with new lock nuts as well.
-
Fabia mk1,Manual Door Locking
Yes, it looks a right pain.. I've ordered that new one.. just hope it's the correct one. He made that lock barrel look really easy, I remember trying to get mine out before that time the key went hard to turn, and it wouldn't budge. I even lost the top grub screw in the door, hopefully this will be my chance to retrieve it with a magnet.

Rear wheel bearing.
Ah brilliant, thanks mate that will be my next job after sorting the door. I replaced my back wheel bearings when I did the drums and shoes as they was wobbling, but to be fair so did the new ones wobble it's obviously just how they are? Lol they just slide off though Maybe not wobble but the two parts slide slightly horizontal
-
Rear wheel bearing.
does it require a slide hammer? I was thinking of investing in one of these, because it seems like my drive shaft is knocking now, and I might need it to pull it out as well?

Fabia mk1,Manual Door Locking

Fabia mk1,Manual Door Locking
damn I'm having quite a bit of trouble finding one, even on Skoda parts with my vin number in, nothing is showing up, all my local scrap yards will only sell a door now. anyone know a good part site where I could put in my vin number? update: after 1 hours of searching I appear to have found it I think, under a different part number (apparently the part number is superseeded?) it is the 2 pin connector, (non central locking, right hand drive, front right) .. how complicated it is. 3B1837015BR there's one for £50 pounds on eBay. I'm pretty sure this is it, I emailed them and they say they think its correct, but it it isn't send it back for a full refund. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Front-Right-Door-Lock-Actuator-Mechanism-for-VW-Transporter-T5-2003-on/113241792566?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 I've spent so much on this care lately, and now the drive shaft is knockin! O.o

Skoda Fabia 1.4 MPI Rough Idle!

Fabia mk1,Manual Door Locking
Brilliant, thanks mate, now how am I gonna get the door open to take the panel off.. lol next problem
-
Fabia mk1,Manual Door Locking
Nope, nothing at all, its key only, no power windows either, I'm sure it was riveted last time i had the door panel off, that's why I didn't go further, but I'll have another look. Having to get in the passenger side and jump across, it's a right pain ! lol
