  1. I'm seeing a blank post? Toot, if it's any consolation, I had Octavia with that exact wheel, the torsion beam setup makes the car have horrible ride.
  2. For local use, as long as you have driveway space to charge it every night, EV's are more convenient and cheaper to run. Very easy to integrate into daily life. I don't think you'll will need to hire a car to try it out. That's because until you get home charge point installed, you may find it more hassle due to having to run a cable out of the window. The truth is, with home charge point, it's a matter of plugging it in when getting home and wake up with your expected range every morning. Don't need to think about range and don't need to think about charging.
  3. 6 sort of is the minimum these days....... especially on trunk roads. Decrease the required stalls per location and there should be a lot more "hubs".
  4. Hence posted in the England thread. Worth bringing those missing ones to the map owner's attention, data source isn't always reliable and nothing beats real user experiences.
  5. There is now apparently 200 rapid charging hubs across UK and Ireland, excluding Tesla-only. https://www.speakev.com/threads/milestone-200-rapid-hubs-now-open-in-the-uk.177382/#post-3431772 The hubs map: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1DOswN-GODssM2XmKV4oQ9r-mkGcbGno&ll=54.13136950620638%2C-2.8241776258469464&z=7
  6. So all those error codes were caused by parking lock actuator? (is that the automatic transmission parking pawl)
  7. That's one of many fault codes fixed. But I can't see how electric motor ECU no communication with BSI, communication fault with traction battery and onboard charger could be fault of a gear lever micro switch. May be low 12v battery? That's often the problem with EV's not charging 12v enough.
  8. Model Y standard RWD is $47k, but everything is the same as LR AWD and performance except for smaller battery and RWD. So I'd put it around Ford Mach-e Premium RWD. Model Y LR AWD is £50k. I can't see anything comparable from Ford in their trim levels. The extended range batery upgrade is only for RWD?!? Great to see LFP battery used as standard. LFP are very good evolution of Li-on batteries.
  9. 4.5 meters in length, that's probably more of your T-roc replacement than Up. (sorry, mis-read OP) EV's are coming down in size, great to see. Is this the Skoda version of £22k VW EV? (Skoda versions are typically stretched VW car same platform, Octavia is stretched Golf, Fabia is slightly larger Polo, etc)
  10. Dealership trying to con private owner for an unnecessary brake change? why I'm not at all surprised! The sort of scary language when Westway Nissan told me I needed brake disk and pads changed when servicing were excessive to say the least. It sailed through MOT a months later no problem.
  11. 110 kW is no problem with EV's. It'll still feel fast 0-40 mph. Early Leaf just have 80 kW motor, but still fast enough 0-30 mph and fun without breaking any legal limits.
  12. I saw the BYD Dolphin (RRP just under £30k) and the slightly larger Jeep Avenger (RRP £35k 🐵 earlier today. I think if VAG can really deliver on that £22k car in around that size, it'll be an easy winner and a total game changer in the whole EV sector.
  13. I saw the Atto 3 today at FCLive. Its size seems very good, not too big externally but big enough inside as regular car. Not sure about RRP though, they need to undercut the established to gain more mindshare. I'm more interested in the Delphin, its size is even smaller, perfect for city runabout. Again, official RRP is too much, need to be priced similar to Fiesta. BYD stand was super popular.
  14. Haha, yes, I used to do it with Leaf: "50"mph along A10 before M1, then settle down to 60-65mph on M1, everyone I just passed then pass me. Thanks for the update, the golden period of EV early are now over. Now is growing pains as we transition into mainstream. Come back in 2-3 years hopefully things are better.
  15. The BMW 3 series vs 5 series is just a few cm of difference all around. Yet the latter feels like a lot bigger car. When cars are already pushing boundary of the parking space and roads, every mm counts.
  16. Stretch/wait for an Enyaq?
  17. So 4 actually new cars. Let's see...... The £22k VW ID2 sister car? The ID7 sister Skoda Superb EV? Possibly an ID3 sister Octavia EV? What else could it be? Not sure about Skoda version of ID Buzz. More likely to be a small Yeti-sized crossover, because they are popular.
  18. The Dolphin is making its UK launch at Fully Charged live south on Friday. I'll check it out on Saturday and see if it's any good
  19. The rear bench is an excellent idea! At least in my mind where cable doesn't need to be dug out of the boot. But in practice for anyone with child-seat it's a completely wasted space. I hate idea of digging cable out of the boot. I'd much rather have some sort of internal storage so I can get out of the car with cable in hand and ready to plug in. When I had to regularly use the cable in winter on the Leaf, I used to put the cable under the floor mats in the rear footwell, in front of the child seat. Perhaps an under rear seat drawer would be better.
  20. Model 2 wouldn't happen for a few years, then a few more years for RHD market.
  21. It's a price war that only Tesla can afford to participate. I personally don't feel anything for traditional manufacturers who resisted the move to electrification. So I'd say "it's about time! You've chosen.... poorly". UK demand (thus price) is linked to demand in other RHD countries and China. They all come from Shanghai and it's a simple matter of diverting production for Tesla. So we'll have to wait China price cuts plus weakening of demand in other LHD countries. But I think we can be very sure a fire-sale is planned for end of quarter on all "inventory" cars. Not sure how leased vehicle fit into that....
  22. The "SR" RWD MY is a bargain IMHO. It doesn't have any features cut, still just as spacious, it has slightly shorter range that most people only need once a blue moon, it accelerates faster than most people needs.
  23. Anyone going to Fully Charged Live this year? I'm going to the Farnborough (south) one on Saturday. Going with my 5yo son and my Dad. More of a family day out. I'm interesting to check out electrifying home. My Dad is looking to go EV, so he'll check out a few of the cars, see if we can book some test drive. Only cost £18 (25% off) for one senior ticket. Under 12 are free. I got a free whole weekend ticket from Tesla owner's club. I plan to go to the Owner's club own "supercharged" event in the summer, so signing up for paid membership gets tickets for many events for free, may be able to get next year's Fully Charged ticket as well because I signed up 1 year paid membership last week.

It's looking great. Super efficient, RWD, hatchback and plans for estate version! Though a bit expensive...... the £22k car please, VW.
