i'm not talking mates of mates, i'm talking mates of 10 years or more that are avid riders of road, downhill, cross country and jumping that have worked in the industry for years. mates who have raced for years, i have been quite into biking for many years now, over half my life and have raced a few times in national points series(didn't do any good though) and have attended far more races than i care to remember as both a competitor, spectator and support for a mate who raced every race he could. this "local bike shop" is the premier importer in the UK for specialized with a turnover of over £150k a month and they sell carbon bikes upto 10k and over, they know what they are talking about thanks. i'm not quoting faceless reviews that probably have corporate interests at heart somewhere.

you lease it for a year then buy it for feck all, done it with a laptop from work too according to my mates in teh know(nearly all of them work in the cycle game and have done for years) don't buy a carbon bike under £2000-£2500 as it'll be a cheap frame with cheap bit to make up for the frame compared to an aluminium frame of equal value, that and and fall/knock on a carbon frame could very easily be the end of the frame as they don't dent/bend/flex they just break and they can't be fixed. i have an specialized allez elite with some nice wheels on the way, the bikes built and ready i'm just waiting for the voucher to reach me

its not that simple really, its not that some HD channels are pap its down to the individual program, once you get the new EPG you can tell it to show you which programs are in HD and which aren't. its amazing how many programs aren't in HD despite it being an HD channel. things like the series of Dexter on FXHD was in HD and looked awesome.

its just going to be the way you drive, small differences in driving styles can yield quite large improvements in mpg and simply keeping it revving as low as possible (not sayin you do by the way) and keeping it in as high a gear as possible won't get you the best mpg, simple things like not braking and carrying as much speed as possible can make a huge difference. i read an advert for a peugeot 308 yesterday where the official figures were something like 70mpg extra urban but a couple went out and tried their best and did a long economy drive to see what they could do and got 126mpg out of it.

a turbo doesn't have a certain amount of boost it can produce per minute or something, if a turbo produces massive boost low down that has nothing to do with what it does later and viceversa.

swmbo's vectra does about 80mph in second and nearly 40mph in first my works van(09 renault trafic) needs 4th to hit 60 :eek:

diesel is worse by the liter than petrol for greenhouse gasses but the increased mpg means it actually works out a little better but then diesel pumps out way more sulfur and particulates than petrol making it the ultimate baby killer

a brand new £300 MSi wind has far greater spec than that in every except screen size(10") so sadly as others have said its not really worth a lot, agreeing with others valuations i'm affraid.
