Hi folks. Wondering if anybody can help me on this please. I was coming down the motorway on Monday and my eml light came on after I gave it a boot full, so I got home plugged my dyno in and got the following code: p2196 02 sensor signal biased/ stuck rich bank 1 sensor 1. Have tried researching but with little success has anybody had this at all. My car is a mk2 Octavia vrs tdi

I was gonna use mine on my car as I had the eml light come on last wk but as it’s now been cleared by my mechanic who has an expensive machine but if it does come on again il plug mine in just to see if it brings up the same code.

Yeah that’s all I want it for long as it tells me what’s wrong sorted👍

That’s all I want it for mate long as it gives me a code to get the problem fixed. I was unaware of other settings u may have to do so thank u for letting me know. My cars been mapped so didn’t really want it wiping that if these scanners can do that

The name of the reader is vdiagtool supposed to read a series of codes and be compatible with a number of manufacturers. My mums Kia it found a code fine, but others have said the cheap one have been known to disable there cars and cause a lot of damage

Yeah true, just heard mixture of opinions and didn’t wanna f*** my car if the cheap ones are no good il send it back. I did try n scan girlfriends bmw 3 series but wouldn’t even read that

Hi guys. I bought a diagnostic scanner from amazon yesterday was only a cheap one for £30 the question I have is 1 are they really any good and 2 can these cheap ones be used on my car? It’s a Octavia vrs mk2 tdi. Have heard various feed backs on these, I’m no mechanic was just one them things I bought as a diy really.

Update: changed maf sensor and all seems ok car is running better more responsive but don’t know if half of that is down to the fact it’s cooler today as my car seems bit more sluggish in the heat!

Interesting il be having a look at my maf in a short while so mayb needing a change and going bk to Oem filter if that’s the case. I have never re oiled my k&n panel just give it a quick shack twice a year!

Hi gissin. I was thinking potentially the same oxygen sensor il look into it a bit more. I did have my air filter out which was fine (k&n panel). Regarding the maf what should I be looking for if it’s faulty? I do have a spare one if need be

Hi. Just an update for the above, mechanic scanned my car while ago and had the following code: p2196 02 sensor signal bank 1 stuck rich. He has reset and drove home around 6-7 miles and hasn’t come back on. He said it maybe when I gave it a boot full that bought the light on, time will tell I guess

okey dokey il see if I can get it booked in with local mechanic, had heard people say could be battery but did check earlier and it’s fine so il post results when it’s done. Thank you for reply appreciate it👍

Hello folks👍 Earlier today I took my car for spin down motorway as I came of and came back around up the slip road I put my foot down in 4th gear and hit 60 mph put it into5th and the eml light came on and has stayed on since, any ideas what it could be please?!. Car is a mk2 vrs tdi estate
