  1. Well I have just changed the convience module and the window motor regulator/module. Not a jot of difference. Coding job? Main dealer? £££?
  2. Thanks, I've posted them up. Fibreglass wings would be good just for the lack of rot.
  3. Jim, my spanner ability falls well below par compared to you, but I'd be happy to come up and lend a hand in changing out the sump if you wanted. Let me know. Take it easy, good luck with the rally in May!
  4. Thanks gents, that is great information and reassuring that I am hopefully on the right path to getting it sorted. Skinnyman has kindly donated a convenience module to the cause (thanks pal, really very kind; true Briskoda spirit), so I just need to get a new electric window motor module and I should be able to change out both parts and hopefully, just maybe, if I cross my fingers and do a special dance to the Skoda Circuitry Gods, I might, just maybe, have windows that open again. Or not. Time will tell. Best whip off the doorcard - again!
  5. Will the electric windows work without being coded, regardless of whether the modules are straight matches? Any recommendations for who to take the car to for key coding - is it a main dealer job?
  6. I like that, but I'm not sure it has enough differentiation from the Mazda!
  7. It's not South Wales as such (but a good excuse for a run out) - I used Hawk Window Tinting in Aberaeron. http://gavincoles25.wix.com/hawkwindowtinting
  8. The red cylinder head would suggest to me that that is an original Sport engine. Did it come with any manifolds? I note that it still uses the mechanical fuel pump - the Sports had blanking plates and ran electric fuel pumps instead. I have a pair of new front wings in my greenhouse but I was planning on keeping hold of them for my Rapid. They're quite readily available in Czech however, although it is a case of getting them back to the UK. I wonder if there is enough demand for having some fibreglass wings made up? If you do happen to order anything from skopart.de then as a member of the Skoda Owners' Club GB you'll get a discount. Speaking of which, can I share the pics of your car over on the Facebook page as I'm sure it'll garner a lot of interest? Also, do you have the registration of the car? I reckon we should be able to trace some history of the car; especially if it is ex-demo or ex-trophy.
  9. Payment sent for 1 x desk calendar. I forgot to send in my votes this year so I apologise about that, but thanks for all that you do for these calendars. I know how much work is involved in bringing them to market so to speak.
  10. Morning all. I've noticed a few people have carried out modifications to their Skodas so that the boot automatically opens when you press down the middle key. This is on cars without electric tailgates, like this Fabia: I think I've read that it is a case of adding a small spring somewhere into the process, but I was wondering if anyone has tried this on an Octavia combi?
  11. Yeah, it looks like a very good deal to me. I'm shocked by how little mk3s are worth already. :(
  12. As I understand it, if the modules don't match then the car will need recoding to the car? I'm not sure really, I'm just fumbling my way through it!
  13. Thanks. It is really stopping me enjoying the car and of course, having removed the doorcard about 200 times in the last few weeks, a few screws have gone missing so the whole thing doesn't go together properly now. I'm just about fed up!
  14. Yeah, I've managed to unclip the old one. I just need to find a replacement / wait until pay day.
  15. Yeah, my next bet is to change the module that attaches to the wiper motor. I am assuming I can just change the module, rather than having to change the whole motor?
  16. I had what I believe to be quite rare model of a mk1 vRS. I'll take a photo and upload it tomorrow.
  17. Yeah, I'd be interested in that convenience module. I'm sort of the impression that if I change everything that controls the processes then eventually it'll start working?! I'll PM you when I get a moment.
  18. Ladies & gents, I bought the below pictured car recently. It was supposed to be quite a cheap way to get my vRS kicks and help keep the mileage down on my mk3. So far, that hasn't gone quite to plan and I've had a number of issues. I was hoping someone could help me with this as it is really putting me off using the car at the moment. See, when I bought the car it had working Remote Central Locking (RCL) and working Electric Windows (EW) but the driver's door had to be opened manually with the key. I looked into the problem on this here forum and read that the most common problem was the door microswitch. I amassed a good, second hand door latch assembly from YellowCar of this parish and changed it over. This was fraught with rounded bolts and escaping small bits of trim but eventually I got it all back together. Only now the RCL didn't work at all. Nor did the EWs, but the Central Locking (CL) still worked off the key. Hmm.... whilst in behind the doorcard I noticed that the wiring loom in the door had been cut and spliced back together in the past so I sourced a good driver's door loom from Devonputina. I fitted that (easier than I was expecting, but still not enjoyable, particularly in the rain), only to excitedly put it all back together and see that I now had no RCL, no EW and no CL. Bugger. Looking at what to do next I have been advised that it could be the convenience module, located under the dashboard, or another control module which makes up part of the electric window motor. I've also read that it could just be that my key needs recoding to the car. I was hoping that someone here might have experienced something similar in the past and could advise where I should look next. It really is a pain of a problem, especially as we have a dog so I can't really use the car all that much and only for short journeys. Your help and advice is most appreciated. Thanks.
  19. 5% discount too from skopart.de if you're a Skoda Owners' Club member.
  20. I'm not sure, but hello from a fellow Swindon resident.
  21. Your car puts my car to shame :(
