  1. I am by no means an expert in this field; far from it. But it does occur to me that people are comparing living standards today to those of the first ten years of this century when we were on a high. The Government had surplus money and the social sector was massive and booming. That wasn't sustainable. It isn't sustainable. It is also an unfair comparison.

The last few years have been hard on lots of people from lots of different walks of life; but its a worldwide problem. From what I am seeing and experience the confidence is returning to the UK, both on an international level, and at home; and I think that is surely worth something?

    Skoda Felicia 1.3

    2000 "W" reg

    65,500 miles

This is an advert for a Skoda Felicia - one of the last ones on a W reg. Originally registered at Preston Motors in London the car has covered only 65,000 miles and is in good, original condition. It has the higher output 68bhp 1.3 Skoda engine and, quite unusually, power steering. This makes it the most usable configuration of Felicia.

The car also has central locking although this doesn't work on the driver's door. Other known faults are that the return spring on the ignition barrel is dodgy so you have to manually turn the switch back to position two after engaging the starter motor. Also, there is some damage to the NSF (see pictures).

Bodywise it is in good condition with no welding to date and no real visible rust.

MOT expires towards the end of April.

  3. Join the owners club then.

I'd imagine it isn't free to produce.

I'm afraid joining the Owners' Club is the only way to get a copy. As grr666 points out, it isn't free to produce. Despite charging for membership the Club generally only has a small surplus with the majority of the money going on printing costs. But it is only £20 a year which I think still represents good value.

I think you are missing the part we play in the VAG scene.  We are small fry.

Look at the number of modded Skodas out there and comparitively there are not a huge amount.

And most of the younger generation can find out all they want on thier smartphones plus use FaceBook to be in groups and discuss stuff in an interactive way which is prefered to waiting for some paper to drop through the door occasionally.

This is another good point. Try though I might, I can't keep up with Facebook, etc; particularly on a quarterly print run. As it goes that it takes a considerable amount of voluntarily time to put one issue together and we're just not in a positive to offer anything more frequently. What I have done therefore is try to offer something different to the internet so whilst you don't get instant updates, you do get to see the whole story and often (if at all possible) with some nice photos and words.

So yeah, producing a magazine is a time consuming and expensive hassle, but I think it is worth it; especially when you have something which is nice to read at the end of it.

  4. Hi all.

I have a 54bhp Felicia MPi. I've just acquired a 68bhp MPI engine. I wondered if people could help me with the following points?

1/ What are the differences between the two engines? Would it be possible to "swap" some bits from the 68bhp engine to my existing 54bhp? Or is that more work than it is worth?

2/ If I swap the engines over can I use my existing ECU? I have the ECU that came off the 68bhp car, but if I fit that, will I need to change my ignition key?

Has anyone else made this change and can recommend anything?

Thank you all very much. :)

  5. Oh but there is! I'm the Editor of one - Skoda Owners.

Skoda Owners is printed quarterly and distributed to members of the Skdoa Owners' Club GB. It is a 28 page colour magazine and as you rightly point out, it is the only Skoda magazine in the UK. It is packed full of information about upcoming models, technical help, owners car's and reviews of new models.

Skoda Owners isn't available to buy in the shop and is exclusively delivered to Club members.

If you'd like to know more, do let me know. :)

  6. Tuning box is definitely the safest bet I reckon, they work well and are far less likely to bring about any warranty concerns for you mate.

Given I am now likely stuck with my car for a year or two I might well consider a DTUK box as and when its practical financially to get one (rarely is though nowadays!) and cook my 288mm brakes just a bit more haha

I'm worried out my front tyres too! I wore through the first set in 12k!

Aside from all that others have said, you WON'T get better mpg and I defy anyone to prove otherwise. Some people try to justify this as 'you drive it harder'. But actually the fact is you get a bit more power for a bit less economy.

I have a dtuk box and I'm happy with it. I am pretty anal about my mpg and I've documented about 44 average with the box vs around 48 without. Both of which are a disappointing to be honest compared with my mk1 and mk2 diesels which achieved 60 mpg and 55 mpg respectively (ok so they were not the same engines but they did at least give me the same as what skoda claimed, unlike the mk3.

Glad I'm not the only who has had only managed mid-40s MPG. I must admit it isn't as good as I was expecting it to be - though still better than the tfsi I was running before.
