  1. It may be quiet because we have been informed that a fix is coming this month. I was told it would be roughly third week of June. So I'm waiting on confirmation and my car is still with the dealer. Others may be the same.
  2. They should be offering compensation to be honest.
  3. I jsut had a call from Kate Laws who has said they now have a fix for the kph/mph error. It is hoped this update will be able to be applied in 3 weeks and that she will ring in 2 weeks to confirm. She said 3rd week of June it is due.
  4. I get a weekly call on Fridays only to be told that theya re working on it and there is no update. How long can they take to 'work on it'? I mean, surely there has to be a timeframe where they change the hardware instead of focusing on software that is proving so difficult to fix (it's been months afterall).
  5. Well, I've been issued with a 21 plate Octavia estate while my car is kept under house arrest in the garage awaiting a fix. However, the courtesy car has popped up with an "oil sensor error - return to the workshop" error. Maybe the Octavia mark 4 should just be avoided at all costs for the foreseeable?
  6. How does a buy back work and how much of the cost do you get back?
  7. Well, I was contacted by the Stirling garage yesterday (who took my car in) to ask what they were supposed to be fixing because they didn’t know why my car was taken in. So, that's just great isn't it? I've contacted Kate to explain my frustration and lack of confidence in this entire process.
  8. It's West End Skoda in Stirling.
  9. I left my car with the garage (after being contacted and arranged by Kate Laws, like others on here) on Saturday. They could give me no idea if when I would get it back. They said that they have already had a car in for over a month to no avail. I am not willing to leave my car in indefinitely while driving around in a garage car with a £750 excess that is an inferior spec to my own car. I will give them two weeks, and if I hear nothing back, I will contact Kate Laws. No mention of any compensation etc either. Very poor. After getting my slSuperb (which is still great) I had only good things to say about Skoda. But this has really out me off getting another car from them in the future.
  10. This option is not available in the UK.
  11. Anyone else had any updates? I got an email from Kate Laws over a week ago asking for information around the faults I was having. I replied the same day and haven't had a reply or acknowledgement.
  12. I currently have it for free (first year), but overall its as buggy as the rest of the car. Currently, it is telling me that my car is parked 45 miles away. No amount of updates is fixing it......
  13. Apart from that late email from Kate Laws which I replied to, I haven't heard a thing from them.
  14. It gives it to be cold this weekend, maybe check if you are due to get some local frost?
  15. Well, I hadn't had a call etc or anything like that from Skoda. This morning, I received the following email: "We have received contact from honest John, in regards to your ŠKODA OCTAVIA. We are aware of a small number of OCTAVIA A8 vehicles which have reported some interruptions in the functionality of certain driver assist systems, which is being investigated. SKODA UK are always looking to improve the operating parameters of our vehicles during their life span and we understand a software update will be released shortly which should address these experiences. Please can I ask you can clarify the issue you are currently experiencing with your vehicle. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards Kate Laws Senior Customer Resolution Manager"
  16. So should anyone who provided all deails to HJ be receiving a call? I've heard nothing at all.
  17. Part of me really doubts that this is a software issue. if it was, I think it could be fixed easier and quicker. I think it is hardware related - which increases the cost - which is why Skoda is dragging its heals.
  18. Thats the same as what I have now and I didn't buy it in the shop. It was standard.
  19. I think the more people who pass on their details to HJ, the better.
  20. So how does the process work with Honest John folks? Quite a few have provided their details etc. Will they get back to us at some point or? I'm just not sure how this works. Never went down that road before. Thanks.
  21. That's maybe the difference then. I think the rest of us have the wide-screen 10 inch.
  22. My car has been with the garage since Monday (they have been very good) and I got an update this morning regarding my issues: I just wanted to drop you an email with some updates on the issues that you raised below: · When selecting your user account, you get the 'Please be patient' message which doesn't disappear and stops you from using the touch screen at all. This means you can’t access anything such as climate control, sat-nav etc. This is intermittent. Changing user accounts quite often does it. (i.e., my wife choosing her user account when entering the car to load her own settings for driving) I have attached video/images of this. You will see in the images that after an hour, the screen had still frozen and was unresponsive for the entire journey, despite rebooting – This has been identified as a faulty telematics control unit, part requires replacement and testing once fitted. The part required is currently on back order so we do not have an ETA of this at this time. · Airbag warning – this light has came on a few times. I have attached video/images of this – Sent to Skoda UK technical for investigation – This could also be related to the faulty control unit mentioned above – awaiting confirmation from Skoda UK. · MPH/KPH Issue - When using the built-in Sat Nav, I am unable to change KPH to MPH. This means when using the virtual cockpit for sat nav (which is one of its primary selling factors) speed is displayed in KPH and not in imperial values. This is pretty dangerous in terms of checking your speed – Factory are already aware of this issue and we are awaiting a fix for this. · MPH/KPH Issue - The speedometer refuses to let you change from MPH to KPH. Again, I will be using this car in Europe going forward after lockdown (we do trips to France for example), and not being able to change this is hazardous. The MPH/KPH are not compliant with UK regulations: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1986/1078/regulation/35/made - so this would need to be fixed - Factory are already aware of this issue and we are awaiting a fix for this. · Front left windscreen washer. This appears to be much more underpowered than the other one – Still to be investigated. · The car (when you successfully select your user account) doesn't always remember your car settings. So, when I get into the car, select my user, it then doesn't actually load my settings correctly which I have previously selected. Such as lane assist, heads up display settings, etc. So, I need to spend time before I drive away picking my settings again. This is poor as my Superb remembers everything. - This has been identified as a faulty telematics control unit, part requires replacement and testing once fitted. The part required is currently on back order so we do not have an ETA of this at this time. · Sometimes the car doesn't remember the seat/mirror positions correctly and they need to be readjusted. This has been identified as a faulty telematics control unit, part requires replacement and testing once fitted. The part required is currently on back order so we do not have an ETA of this at this time. · Sometimes it just fails to open your user account. You will select it, but it will fail to load continuously, meaning all settings need to be readjusted so you can get on with your journey. This has been identified as a faulty telematics control unit, part requires replacement and testing once fitted. The part required is currently on back order so we do not have an ETA of this at this time. · The faint smell of smoke. Possibly lingering in the air filters – Pollen filter to be replaced & air con treatment carried out. · The motion gestures sometimes work/ sometimes don't – Ongoing investigation, cannot get this fault to reoccur · Sluggish DSG gear changing. When in the lower gears, sometimes it randomly revs very high on second and third gear for no reason. There is no correlation between a cold/warm engine. I have had it happen at the start and end of journeys. I have a DSG in my 2.0 Diesel L&K Superb and I have your new Superb courtesy car which is also a 2ltr diesel DSG. Neither has this issue. Ongoing investigation, cannot get this fault to reoccur · The voice assistant is a PITA. I think her name is Laura? But it randomly turns itself on during journeys despite me never having uttered its name command. Factory are already aware of this issue and we are awaiting a fix for this. As soon as we have any more updates I will let you know. It is now unlikely that we will have the car ready for Monday as Skoda UK & the Skoda factory in Czech are involved, my plan is to keep you in the loan car at this time. Have a great weekend and we will catch up again next week.
  23. Just commenting on this. I have had 66 plate L&K Superb for 4 years now with Canton and it still sounds great. I have a new Octi 20 plate with no canton. I agree, the standard speakers are very poor IF you have previosuly used Canton or better speakers as standard. If you are coming from a car which had rubbish audio, you will find the stndard octi speakers satisfactory. if you are coming from anything else, You will be dissappointed. The Octi is for my wife who is coming from an Astra SRi, She finds the Octi great in comparison to that.
  24. I think those with newer versions don't have the same issues. likewise, those with newer hardware revisions have access to newer software (1788) that those on us on the first revision of hardware don't have access to.
  25. So I got a reply from HonestJohn. he has 5 complaints now. We need more. Folks, get emailing otherwise nothing will be done about it!
