TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
All, I've tried all of this and I get a "please insert valid media" when I put the SD card in. It's not a Skoda proprietary card (but surely shouldn't have to be?), maybe I've got the formatting wrong? Any advice gratefully received.

Just dowloading the files now (although the first one could take a while as MEGA set quotas). The bit I'm not sure about is:4. Check/configure FEE BASED TRAFFIC INFO is set to 1023 using VCDS/OBD11. I don't have access to VCSD/OBD11 so guess I'm still screwed?

Ok so I need to ask (for those of us that don’t get the technical talk). What do I need to do to sort my Amundsen unit (assuming that’s what it is as it take map data from the sad card)?

Ok for those of us who have zero clue what some of the techie answers are can you break it down into layman’s terms

Anything that relies on Trafficmaster for RDS-TMC

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
My unit can use Carplay no issues and no licencing (just works). In other news I spoke to Skoda Customer Services today, the chap was nice but clueless as there's NOTHING on their system about any issues, so does make me wonder if ANY of the calls we've made are actually being logged?

Err isn’t the point that we CANT use the inbuilt sat nav because of this specific issue (or rather we can but won’t be able to route around hold ups)? This that answer has fallen short of the mark

And in the meantime, any Skoda dealers selling used cars affected by this are passing on vehicles with a known fauls. If they fail to inform buyers then there's a whole different set of implications.

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
Thing is it’ll be affecting units that are much newer than this and will still be for sale on Skoda forecourts. Wonder where they stand if they don’t point it out to potential buyers?

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
The matter of charging an interesting one and may well spawn a separate thread when it comes to it. To my mind, this is an issue created by Skoda (or VAG) themselves and should therefore not be a cost passed on to the customer base. It may mean a call to Trading Standards when the time comes

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
It's interesting to note that this message hasn't filtered down to dealership level yet. I just spoke to my local Skoda dealer (who I have to say have been very good and accepted that a diagnostic would be pointless), and they've checked on their internal bulletins and there's nothing. But, it does appear to be a step in the right direction.

@STV16L were you receiving those channels via DAB or FM? Worth noting that RDS-TMC works off an FM signal
-
TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
not quite true, INRIX still transmit on FM.

Yep, from Skoda UK's Facebook channel, not great is it?

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
And now this little gem from Skoda UK (Via Facebook) "Please be advised that this is affecting all customers using this function from various brands. Trafficmaster has switched of this service to Trafficmaster who provided the RDS-TMC broadcast until further notice and there's nothing I can do until they have switched it back on."

Wonder if it's worth going to the motoring Ombudsman?

Skoda Rapid 2017 integrated Satnav not receiving TMC traffic messages.
I've dropped an email to the Skoda UK MD, perhaps a few more along this theme would help move things along? Dear Mr Bowden, I am writing to you as myself and pretty much every owner of a Skoda(and other VAG vehicles) have been hit with an issue wherein the TMC function within the built-in sattelite navigaion has ceased to function. Despite numerous approaches via Skoda Customer Services we seem to be no closer to getting an official response regarding this. In fact the stock answer from Customer Services is to take the vehicle into a dealership for diagnosis, despite this being an external issue (in fact my local Skoda dealership checked and are also affected, including their own personal vehicles and have confirmed there is nothing they can do). The issue appears to be that Trafficmaster, who provided the servers to VAG and also Honda, Chrysler, Fiat and Vauxhall, stopped transmitting RDS-TMC data in the UK (in their words, as it was unsupported). This has effectively cripped the Dynamic Routing function of the in-built sattelite navigation as the system is no longer able to pick up information on potential traffic issues on the route selected. This in turn will result in more vehicles stuck in traffic and the subsequent knock-on effect to the environment. The other RDS-TMS supplier in the UK (INRIX) have confirmed they are still transmitting data but it appears that there would have to be some kind of firmware/map update to allow Skoda vehicles to use this (and, one would assume a licence agreement between Skoda and INRIX). I would appreciate it if you could arrange for someone to provide a definitive statement on what is going to be done to resolve this issue for what will be be affecting tens of thousands of Skoda users currently. For information, my particular vehicle is a Skoda Superb SE Business, Registration *********. But I would encourage you to review the BriSkoda forum online, specifically the following thread: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/512443-tmc-traffic-events-no-longer-being-receivedfirmware-update-required/page/8/ Yours Sincerely,

I think a few well placed emailed to the MD might focus attention (or at least he will pass it back down the food chain to get someone to actually respond)

Here's an idea, how about spamming the managing director of Skoda UK's inbox? Mr Matthew Bowden Managing Director Email *****@*****.tld

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
actually only the one solution (switch to INRIX) as Trafficmaster have terminated their transmissions and I somehow doubt they will reinstate the service. Makes me wonder what kind of contract they had with the manufacturers they were transmitting to, VAG MUST be aware of it at some level as there would have been some kind of termination.
-
TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
Good shout, although the issue here is that VAG didn't/don't use INRIX, they had a separate contract/subscription with Trafficmaster who have ceased transmission of data. What I would be asking is, were VAG aware of this turnoff (given that they would have had a contract with Trafficmaster one would think so) and why haven't they advised customers of the change?

I doubt if a map update will fix this sadly
