  1. Wow, shocked to read that dealers would remove unit with no discussion Andysuew. I am sure our lovely UK dealers would not do that. I have read a few members here say they would not let there phone box be removed. Guys how would you feel if you took your car in for service and the service department said afterwards "We've removed your wireless charging and signal booster, good news is its done free of charge" I imagine once the blocked car guys have been dealt with Skoda will move on to others with this option fitted
  2. If TumnusCats dealer is as useless as mines I would not sign anything, yet. I am sure they will want to get the car sold and in this months figures. My worry would be if that felt I was fully committed and couldnt back out how would they treat me. I am a cash buyer, only paid deposit and feel very poorly served. I would dread to think what things could be like if they had all the money and felt they could deliver the car when it suited them
  3. I am new to Skoda so your comment worries me Xman. Please dont tell me a dream that the dealer actually cared is an "Absurd fantasy"
  4. Hi Guys, I was one of the unfortunate guys who had delivery of there new cars blocked on Friday. Well I am conscious I need to start sharing some good news as the last three days I've been a bit negative about the experience and the lack of information and communication I was getting. First thing this morning the dealer came good. They were obviously feeling really bad about only giving me 1 hours 7 minutes notice on Friday I could not collect my car. In fact I had already sorted insurance and was on my way. This morning the head of the dealership rang me, apologised profusely, explained they had been put in a difficult position by Skoda. But accepted there should of been more contact, even a quick e mail or phone call to say I had not been forgotten. He confirmed I would not have to pay anything for the PT3 option I specified, confirmed what fix was and timescales and said they would be making a good will gesture to cover the inconvenience, wasted day off work etc. I was feeling much happier. Then .................................................................................................... the alarm went off and I woke up. Yes you guessed it nothing, not a squeek. I am sure they are all busy selling cars but please at least pretend to make me feel valued and cared about. I said to someone else I had more effective communication from Amazon about the late delivery of a £30 tooth brush, than I have over this problem with a £38k list price car
  5. Exactly. I am quite shocked about the level of care from Skoda UK and dealer, especially as they only have my deposit. Last communication was with dealer late afternoon Friday. That morning I was given just over an hours notice I could not collect the car, I was already on my way. I know **** happens but Skoda please communicate with your customers, because radio silence is making a difficult situation much worse for me. I think transparency and honesty while not making everything OK may make you feel valued. The total lack of information I am getting worries me. No communication from dealer over weekend, fair enough obviously whole team not in. It will be interesting to see if anyone makes the effort to make contact with me on Monday. If Skoda are not giving any information to the Dealer network that is appalling and puts the dealers in a very difficult position,
  6. Guys one thing that has crossed my mind and needs clarification from Skoda is is the same fix being carried out on all cars. What worries as someone who was due to collect new car on Friday is will we have cars that are tainted as known as having the dodgy phone box fix. I am sure down the line Skoda will fix for cars in production. But what about guys whose cars are built. Will the "fix" cause other issues even if just rattles this problem could give our particular cars a bad name. Effecting future values. Maybe I am being a bit OTT, but when spending over £30k I need to be sure I am not making a mistake in accepting the car. It is particularly hard as I am finding a total lack of information from official sources. Hopefully things will become clearer om Monday
  7. If you are waiting for a Skoda with this option you are probably like me getting very mixed messages on the problem and what is happening. I am not saying this article has all the answers but adds a bit of information if correct. http://www.contracthireacar.com/blog/breaking-news-an-immediate-stop-made-to-deliveries-of-certain-models-with-wireless-phone-chargers
  8. That is my view exactly, obviously they know what the problem is now. Issue a statement to dealers on what to tell us, dealers then tell us, all singing from same hymn sheet. 1 What problem is 2 Is this temporary or permanent fix 3 What functionality is being lost 4 If they intend to compensate 5 Will car cosmetically be different
  9. People who have rain lights fitted on their car. You know the really bright red lights on the rear of your car you can switch on if its a bit grey or drizzly to hinder visibility of any driver following you. If you are lucky and they have to follow you for long enough you can induce headache and cause eye strain. Unfortunately I dont have these fitted on my car, only fog lights Joking aside back in the day there used to a public information film informing drivers not to use fog lights unless it was foggy. Today some seem to see even rear fog lights as a fashion accessory
  10. So much useful information on here which I am inclined to take more notice of that what I am hearing from dealer. Thank you! I know when things happen quickly information is hard to come by and changes by the hour, But it would have helped the situation if Skoda sent a note to dealers as they sent a block on releasing new cars saying something like. "There is an issue with the signal booster, that means it doesnt meet UK regulations, as a result this element is being disabled, wireless charging will continue to work and the car will not be altered cosmetically". The lack of information made the situation worse and the dealers position much more difficult. I was driving to dealer to collect new car when I had the call. So after the shock and disappointment of that call. I was sitting at home after taking the day off work pondering would the new car be left with a big hole were the phone box was? Would a bit a dodgy fix lead to the dreaded rattles I read so much on this forum about? Would my car be tainted in the future, known as one of the Superbs with the crappy phone box fix affecting future value. I know it sounds OTT but when you are buying a car with a list price of £38k issues like this cause doubts. I am told all cars with this fitted will be subject to recall. Must be a difficult position if you have a car with a feature you like and could possibly be very important to you and it is removed for regulatory issues. As we know many of us are very attached to our motors. It was a crap day yesterday, which I was hoping would have been a fun day. Calls to dealer, Skoda UK, writing on here, sorting re insuring my old car. I feel much better today after sleeping on it. I hope again on Monday things will be clearer with the dealer, and they can put in writing exactly whats happening re fix, timescales, loss of functionality etc. Thank you all for the information and advice. I hope if/when I do get my new Superb I will be able to contribute to this forum in a more positive way!
  11. After taking day off to collect the new car, which as you know I am no not. I thought I would post the latest in case you are interested. I am sure this will change in the next hours/weeks/months as the facts become apparent. I spoke to sales guy a while ago. His understanding is fix will not cosmetically alter car, wireless charging will still work, problem is with telephone signal booster and its not working well. So Skoda wants to get this sorted before releasing cars. He is not sure what the fix is, software or hardware. I cannot believe Skoda would create bad feeling, inconvenience to customers because they wanted to improve the phone signal. Then thought Id check with Skoda CS. Basically they said a bulletin has been released to dealers to make them aware of fix, issue is with signal booster and regulatory and technical issues means this has to be rectified. I said will car still have same functionality, he said although he had bulletin he couldn't reveal that information and it would be for dealer to discuss. So this makes me think something will be changing with functionality of car. I was hoping to be driving around in my new car in this sunny weather, rather than writing to you lot
  12. Luckypants you know more than Skoda UK, thank you!
  13. Thats interesting Shootek, maybe the "regulatory issue" mentioned by Skoda CS is valid then? I'm sure all will become clear soon. But in UK doesnt seem very clear whats happening yet. Enjoy your new car!
  14. I would also assume that anyone with a car with a wireless charging box fitted will be subject to a recall to have those removed. How will those guys be compensated for removal of functionality they have paid for?
  15. I have just looked on here a bit more and its not just the Superb, any Skoda with the wireless charging box. I rang Skoda UK and there line is "its done for regulatory issues" when I pressed him he said thats all they have been told. More like a safety issue I would have thought. I had read on here before about concerns how hot they got. Skoda UK said depending on dealers workshop time the fix could be done today. I think fix is ripping out charging unit and fitting plastic tray. Bet my dealer wont be working to those timescales. Its such a shame, all my mates saying what you doing getting a Skoda. I know any brand can and does have problems but a real bad start to the relationship especially on new car pick up day, not many of us have lots of those. On the Kodiaq section, some are talking of rejecting their new car. I feel annoyed but maybe that is a step too far, or maybe not.
  16. Start driving to dealer to pick up new 220ps Sportline this morning. Call from dealer. There is a fault with wireless charging box/signal booster on all new Superbs this fitted to. Skoda has put a block on them registering new cars until fault rectified. Apparently only just announced, so long story short no new car today, dont know when I will have new car. Not a good start to my relationship with Skoda. I guess they must assume really safety critical, or surely they would let you drive away and take it in later for work. To say I p***ed off is an understatement. I guess if anyone picked up a new Superb yesterday, they may be having to get rectified to. I am saying Superbs but may be other new cars with charging box/signal booster. I will update as I know more
  17. My car is being built this week, so hopefully wont be to long before I get my hands on it . I have already started accumulating some bits and pieces to look after/adorn the new motor. Eg LED tailgate lights, new wash mitt, Skoda log dust caps etc. Read with interest some of the advice on here about things to check on collection like umbrellas, torch, locking wheel nut etc. Planning to get a data sim card for Columbus. Any tips for things to watch out for at collection, Bits and pieces I should consider getting in advance of new motor. Was thinking of sticking some music on SD card. Any advice gratefully received
  18. Just set a few mousetraps and leave them set all winter in the garage. It has been scientifically proved mice prefer peanut butter to eating cars. Joking aside, they can do lots of damage to lots of stuff, I am inclined to catch two in one night then nothing for weeks or months. Mr and Mrs Mouse tend to enter together and if a few traps are set they dont survive the night https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aspectek-Mouse-Trap-Reusable-Traps/dp/B00HDVUTZA/ref=pd_sim_86_8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=WY3Z6ZSRRQ9J4XP7ABKD
  19. Hi Tom, Your car looks great! Pleased to hear your MPG is creeping up. I was distressed to read about your 26MPG in yesterdays post as I have a 220ps on order . But like you I would like to add my thanks to all the detailed responses. Hopefully when the I get my Superb I will be able to contribute more actively. But in the meantime big thanks to all those on this forum, I have learnt so much!
  20. Hi Xman, Thats exactly what I would have thought. But this was my experience before Christmas when wanting to use the scrappage deal. Had test drive and wanted to buy a Sportline placing an order late December. The sales guy told me they were warning clients that orders placed then were touch and go whether they would be delivered and registered by the scrappage deadline (I think then it was 31/3/18). I thought that cant be right that if Skoda are late delivering the car I get penalised £4k. So I checked with the sales manager, he confirmed this was the case, I explained I would place an order if I was guaranteed the scrappage, but they could not guarantee so I walked away. Skoda later extended the scrappage scheme and I was able to place an order in confidence. It seems crazy to me that if there was a failure in the supply chain and they ran out of wheels, the customer gets his car late and looses £4k too. But this is certainly what the dealer thought at the time as they were disappointed to not get the order, and were trying to come up with other options to do the deal. I don't think any of this is a concern for Nick or for others with orders in the system. But as we get nearer the 31st May would be wise for others to check carefully with the dealer.
  21. You should be fine Nick as to qualify for scrappage new car has to be delivered by 30th June.
  22. Ordered Sportline 220ps Combi with lots of options on 3/1/18 currently build week 14, and delivery anticipated around 23rd April.
  23. Out of interest just compared Carwow offers with what Car File comes up with. On Sportline Combi 220ps spec I built Carwow was cheaper................ By £26.40
  24. I am not an owner...... yet. On order and should take delivery end of April. I ended up buying cash. Skoda scrappage gave me £4k for my old diesel and Car Wow got me 14% off the list price of a Sportline Estate, with the 220ps engine. I know its hearsay, but one of the sales guys in the dealers told me his boss was getting 23mpg in his 280. I guess driving it hard with "free" fuel
  25. Hi Guys, I have a Sportline Estate on order. Is there an Ali Express or Ebay equivalent to the 35 Euro Super Skoda ones shown in Latestarters post above? I assume the the Ali ones others refer to here don't fit the estate/combi lights as shown in picture above?
