  1. I have these ones from Aliexpress https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32915235840.html?spm=a2g0s.12269583.0.0.253b70b8rvnpVk Shop called JOGON Motorsports store. Fitted them January 2019. Passed two MOTs since then with them and they've performed faultlessly. Cost me £47 back then as well !
  2. I kept the adaptor spout from my previous car, a MK3 Focus and its fits into my Octavia filler neck no problem.
  3. Have a look here
  4. A couple of weeks back I had the same problem. The "front Assist Not Available" message flagged up on a couple of mornings but started ok then went out after driving. After that I hadn't used the car for three days and when I came to start it the battery was so low it wouldn't spin the starter. So as the car had a Moll efb battery and coming up to 5 year old I decided to change the battery. I got a new Varta agm battery. Fitted that and haven't had any more problems. Might be my imagination but the car even seems to be running better now as well.
  5. 3 bar ? That's 43.5 psi. Far too high surely. Must be bouncing all over the road. Probably only the centre part of the tread touching the road. What's the recommended pressures for your model ? In the event of an accident whether your fault or not if the pressures are checked by an insurance assessor they may well look for anyone or anything to point the blame at. And they do.
  6. Thanks everyone for the replies. Much appreciated. Fleece it is then !
  7. I've ordered a new Varta agm battery to replace the existing Moll efb on my Octavia. Should get that on Tuesday and I have an Ancell VD700 scanner/reader that I can us to re-code the new battery. I've read various articles and watched some Youtube videos and some state that the new agm battery should be coded as fleece and others are stating binary agm. Which one is correct and what's the difference ? Is there a difference ?
  8. This happened to me last Wednesday. Got in the car, started it up and it flagged up "Front Assist Not Available". Had this happen once before and found leaves stuck across the sensor so checked that and was all ok. It never came on again on Wednesday so thought it was just a one off glitch. Haven't used the car again until this morning and the battery was so dead it wouldn't spin the starter so put my jump start pack on and it started straightaway so I'm of the opinion that the battery is on the way out and the front assist not available was just the start of it. Once it started and I gave it a good run it was starting ok every time and when I got back I put the charger on to boost it up but have decided to bite the bullet and I've ordered a new Varta agm battery and get it fitted before any other problems throw up. After searching around I managed to get the Varta for £108 delivered from Battery Megastore which seems a good price. Should have that on Tuesday so I'll fit that and hopefully all will be ok.

  10. Might just need the flaps resetting. There's a few videos on youtube like this one
  11. Welcome from another Northumberland member
  12. The price has also come down a lot since I bought mine 2 years ago. Paid £45 then, and they didn't come with the tools. Mine have been reliable though and still as bright and clear as the day I fitted them.
  13. My Aliexprees ones do !
  14. I bought one off ebay a year or two back. Looks very much like the Lidl one. The plastic tube fitted all the way down the dipstick hole ok. I tried to suck out the oil on a cold engine. No joy. Tried again with with the engine up to temp and it all sucked out straightaway. I measured the amount I had sucked out and it was around 4.5 litres so got most of it out ok. I do this as an intermediate oil change then change filter on scheduled one.
  15. Pleased you've had good service from them. I previously used them when they were Silbury without problem. Now owned by Pulman. Took my Octavia to them last September for for first major service just to keep the warranty up. Out of warranty now though. I got a phone call from them telling me that BOTH front shockers were leaking and they'd gladly charge me £320 a side to replace them. I was shocked and surprised at this as I'd had a quick check around under the car a few months previous and the car only had around 26000 miles on at the time. I'm a retired motor mechanic, 71, but can't crawl around like a used to ! I asked if they could show me where they were supposedly leaking but I got a load of bull about how I wouldn't be allowed in their workshop for safety reasons. I paid for the service and left. A few days later when I felt up to it I jacked the front end up to look for this supposed leak and guess what. No leaks anywhere. Dry as a bone. A few days later I got a questionnaire from Skoda asking how I would rate the service I recently had at Pulman. You can imagine what I wrote ! Surprisingly I didn't get another reply from Skoda. I'm assuming Skoda would have informed Pulman but I've not heard anything from them in the way of an explanation. Needless to say I'll not be going back again. Now the car's out of warranty I'll use a local independent in the future. And, to finalise, I had the car in for MOT in January and passed without problem and no advisories. And no mention of leaking shocks. I rest my case your honour !
  16. I've had a remote controlled garage door opener for years now. Not given any bother. It's a 433mhz one with a little remote blipper I leave in the little cubby in front of the gear lever. Easy enough to operate from there and keeps things simple. Mine's a chain driven one. If I had to replace it I'd go for a belt drive one now.
  17. Hello and welcome to the forum. Also from Northumberland.
  18. Just changed the tank on mine a couple of weeks ago. Couldn't see or feel a bag inside mine then on closer inspection saw it was the later twin walled tank and the bag is located between the walls. It might well have gone on for thousands more miles without problems but I felt for the sake of £30 and 30mins work it was better than having a large bill further down the line.
  19. I go back to the early 70s when the RAC started in Harrogate. There's a dvd kicking around somewhere. A bunch of us would kick off at Harrogate and follow it all around the UK. I'm from Northumberland so not far far from "Killer Kielder". Happy days. I'm 71 now but remember it well and still hang out with the same friends from those days.
  20. OK, thanks for the update. I decided to bite the bullet and order one. Not sure how long it'll take to arrive but I'm not in a hurry. I see that Eurocarparts are selling a G13 compatible for £5.99 so might try that https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/triple-qx-purple-antifreeze-coolant-g13-1ltr-523770492
  21. Keep us posted and let's know how you got on. Cheers.
  22. Thanks for that. So I assume that my existing cap would still fit ok on a replacement tank ?
  23. So, is the double walled one meant to be an updated improvement to the previous single walled one with the silica bag or is it just as liable to cause problems ? After reading this thread for the last few days I decided to have a look at mine today. I can't see or feel a silica bag inside so I'm assuming it's probably a double walled one. The tank is marked "mit silikat". Not having any problems but for the sake of £30 it may save a large bill further down the line.
