  1. I have a 66 plate Octavia registered Jan 2017 Octavia. It got in before the change in April 2017. I don't pay road tax. I've been thinking lately of changing the car but in view of the way that tax and insurance is spiralling out of control I'll probably just keep it going until it drops. It's a 1.6 diesel with only 40,000 miles on the clock and easily get 50 mpg local driving and can get up to 75 mpg on a long run. Still wouldn't be surprised if they started charging road tax for mine in the future though ☹️
  2. Have a look here. There's a couple of other vids on Youtube also.
  3. Hello and welcome to this great forum from another Northumberland member 😎
  4. I think a lot depends on the insurer. When I got my Octavia 4 years ago I wanted to have window tints fitted and when I contacted my insurer at the time I was told they wouldn't accept it so I just left it at that. When my insurance was due for renewal I went with a different company and they agreed to insure with tints at no extra cost. I think I've changed insurers again since then and not had the tints knocked back as long as it's declared.
  5. Glad you feel that you had decent service from Pulmans. My feelings are the exact opposite. If you read my post further up you'll see my dealings with them. Amazingly my car has passed a further 3 MOTs without mention of leaking shocks. When needed I now use a very good indie at Blyth.
  6. I'm intending to fit a piggy back fuse connector in the engine compartment fuse box. Is the fuses in there classed as standard, mini or micro ? To be sure I get the correct piggy back connector. Cheers.
  7. Take it through Rufford ford. That'll answer your question !
  8. The plastic wheel nut caps are grey anyway and they all discolour through time. Maybe this is what you're describing as "misty" .
  9. Two years ago while having my Octavia serviced at the local stealer I was informed that both front dampers were leaking and would happily charge me £320 each side to replace them ! I asked them to show me this in their workshop but they gave me a load of guff about health and safety and wouldn't do it. I took the car home and a few days later I jacked the car up both sides and couldn't see any leakage what so ever. The car has passed two MOTs since then.
  10. I had to renew my licence when I was 70 3 years ago. At that time the DVLA contacted me to ask me if I still wanted to keep the licence and sent the appropriate form. I had also just had a pacemaker fitted so had to declare that and get the ok from my cardiologist. It all went ok and I got a new photocard licence, free of charge, without restrictions for 3 years. I also had the old paper licence and asked if they could return it for me to keep for posterity which they did no problem. My 3 years will be up in September this year so as far as I know they will contact me to ask if I want to renew it. It's been well publicised that the DVLA have an enormous backlog of applications so there will be delays and hold ups. Hope it all goes well for you.
  11. Like many other forum members I have dynamic indicators fitted and a) they fit correctly, b) mine has passed 3 MOTs with them fitted and c) they also have the tell-tale in the mirror frame. Quite happy with mine thank you very much !
  12. I got a surprise a few days ago. Keep seeing that s/h prices are soaring so just out of interest I put the details of my car, 2017 Octavia 1.6 SEL, into the WeBuyAnyCar checker. I had to look twice when I saw that they had made an offer of £11,120 for it. I only paid £11,700 for 4 years ago ! Not intending to sell but makes you think 🙁
